  1. Actually the turbo was reputed to be invented by a swiss person! Not german and not [as far as I could find] in Germany. "The turbocharger is actually already an old hat. Alfred Büchi, a Swiss engineer from Winterthur, invented the turbocharger and registered his invention approx. 1905 to the patent.Büchi had noticed that conventional burning engines have an extremely bad degree of effectiveness. (while it was to convert a third of the energy brought in as fuel in movement max. the remains disappeared approximate ever with the half) about cooling and exhaust fumes unused "to the open".
  2. Why don't you use some 'knead it' epoxy and fill the hole then drill and re tap a 10mm hole?
  3. I use a stainless steel scourer in the catch can to help the oil vapour condense. I extended the inlet pipe side into the stainless steel, this makes the vapour flow through the wire mesh. THe outlet is unchanged on the top. Only down side is you can't let your catch can get to full [mine never does anyway].
  4. I'm running with a Hks evc and an apexi boost gauge plus my std dash boost gauge works as well. They came with the car, I just made the s/s cup and evc mount on the steering column........have I got boost covered..........yep!
  5. yeah, I don't plan to alter the turbo. If I can't buy an external wastegate model then I'll plate the manifold up and use the internal wastegate.
  6. Awards are all wrong!!! Best Dummy Spit Best 'Oh ho, I forgot to tighten that bolt' Best 'oops!' Best defect Best bourbon/bundy/beer regurg Best 'gay' bit on your car Best 'I didn't say that.....did I? Best excuse for trying to get out of a defect/ticket/across the pits reject etc Best pink shirt [sorry veilside] Please feel free to add as you see fit.
  7. No, I wouldn't weld/plate the turbo. I intend to plate the manifold!! The turbo will be untouched.
  8. Another way of looking at it: I get better mileage out of PULP on my bike, if I have to use ULP I hit reserve 25km earlier. I try to use PULP all the time, cos I can get that bit further [motorcycles aren't made for pushing] and get to the next town. The economy doesn't add up to the extra cost, PULP is more expensive no argument. But the convenience of not having to 'short fill' = being able to make the next town makes it worthwhile.
  9. Rather not do that, just a plate and gasket would do. That way I can still use the mount if I ever want to. Weld is a bit like..permanent...lol. Plus weld on cast would be more prone to cracking with use. You'd have to have the plate made out of similar material otherwise you'd have different expansion/contraction rates between the plate and the manifold. With a plate and gasket there should be sufficient 'slop' to allow for expansion/contraction.
  10. True, it all comes down to $$$$, decides which option is chosen.
  11. How much would it be for them to convert one of these turbo's to an external wastegate housing. Reason I'm asking is I have the HKS cast manifold and my options are to plate over the wastegate mount [block it off] or convert the turbo to external. I reckon the plate over the wastegate mount is cheaper, but then I'm not too sure what this would do to my airflow? DP3 I'm definitely interested though, could be the exact turbo for the RB25. The numbers and specs place it somewhere between the 2835proS and the GT3076, so good performance right in the sweet spot for a road car, minimal lag, adequate top end.
  12. Fluffy dice................ Well actually, think about an exhaust cam pulley and about high flowing your turbo? But with an ecu/injectors/pump/pulley and highflow you'd maybe get around 230-240rwkw and loose $3500...lol plus $4.50 for the dice.
  13. Why are new cars so stereo typical?? Commodore vs Falcon and now Ferrari and Nissan.......... Whatever happenned to the days when you new it was a Chev/kingswood/Falcon/mustang/nissan/valiant/mitsubishi/pontiac/toyota. You couldn't get the cars - or the models [torana, cortina etc] confused even if you had myopic vision. The modern car is designed around a jellybean>>>>one shape but any colour you want!!
  14. The silly part is, because of the way these rat packs are brought up [or the lack of an upbringing?] the only real respect you can get out of them is if you do smack 'em up [jest larke ma pa dun]. Look on the bright side, give 'em 5-10 years and the new litter of 14 year old hotshots are doing the same thing to them!!! The successful ones are the individuals that make 25 and still have thier own front teeth....
  15. DP3, I'd be interested in the 52 trim 3037/3076, I've held off buying a turbo [for several reasons, $$$, hunting down a HKS cast manifold, getting it honed and coated etc], but would be very interested in this turbo set up for my RB25. I can wait a bit longer, but would have to reassess my options if March drags into april into may etc. If Garrett have them out by March, the timing would be spot on. BTW I'd be looking at an external wastegate, but if they are internal then I guess I could plate over the external mount on my HKS cast manifold. But an external wastegate should be no big deal because the changes are on the comp. side, not the turbine side.
  16. I can wait.............they are only worth what somebody is willing to pay!
  17. Arrhh I wondered where the rat with the gold tooth was living!! Now I know. Very nice.
  18. Could be pimp money...........sniff it!!
  19. As my ad says, got it off another forum member. No probs, if I've got it you can take it.
  20. Wasn't having a go at you, I thought manwhore was having a go at us!! I was gunna ask if he was Wylie G Coyote though. Actuarial maths is not required! I think the add says good at maths etc, I reckon it means - solid maths ie you don't have to be brilliant, but yes you need to have a solid understanding of HSC level maths.
  21. You have to gently tap the big lock ring around with a hammer and plastic drift. Hand tightening is not enough. Before you do it, make sure the large 'O' ring seal is correctly positioned.
  22. Thats why I said solid maths at HSC level.
  23. Yeah, sorry, need solid maths and science in HSC or better. Don't need a genius [Wylie Coyote is safe], but can't hide non-maths/science. If you know anyone, anyone at all, tell 'em. It is a bloody good job if you are into 4wd, boat, swim, computer, oudoor/indoor, and have pract. skills like basic electronics/welding/handyman/1st aid etc
  24. I'll give you $150 for the carpet and the steering wheel [i presume airbag didn't go off].
