C'mon Lukas, a lawn mower is way too dangerous. I was actually after some lateral thinkers to come up with viable alternatives. Mind you if I could remove the injection setup and go back to carbie, I reckon a lawnmower carbie would be a good thought.

I was thinking of a turbo back 3/4" full system with a loflo cat [probably a tabby in a can] as well.............. Has anybody done this???? was it a bolt on fit????
-
Maybe this should go in the wasteland section, but here goes: I'm thinking of getting my car rebuilt with a detuned motor, I've got 300rwkw at the moment and am hoping for 70rwkw when I'm finished. Any ideas?????????? I thought a small turbo from an exa pulsar, and a new 4 pack of coils might be a start [leave two cylinders with nil spark]. PS this is a mental role reversal of what everyone [inc. me] posts. :alien:

I don't agree with the thread on the UK site, oiled foam air filters are a superior filter. And the person [sorry can't remember his acronym] was unaware that HKS foam filters are oiled indicates to me that he is making conclusions while not in possession of all the facts, a dangerous practise. Foam air filters -- oiled -- are usually multilayered and so trap dirt very well without inhibiting induction. They do require regular cleaning, and are engineered to be so treated. The other thread with the filter test, I would be somewhat suspiscious of, many tests are conducted and distributed by competitors that malign other products. I can't verify if this is the case, however the fact that many racing fraternities use and help develop various filters [as well as other auto accessories] reinforces dependability, performance, and function.

Please see my replies in: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=52075 Foam filters are made to be cleaned..................

Fibreglass repair kits - advice?
tridentt150v replied to Skysthelimit's topic in General Maintenance
Anyway, if yr bar is std, it will be IMP = injection moulded plastic. Fibreglass will patch it up, but probably better to take it to a plastic welder and get it done properly. You can also use a good urethane like Wurths makes, this stuff sticks like cum to undies, u can't get it off, and you can shape and mold it as you do the job and afterwards with a bit of WD40/CRC, sandpaper, or polish. It all depends on how badly damaged it is and how big a hole you have to fill etc as to which product is gunna work best. -
Fibreglass repair kits - advice?
tridentt150v replied to Skysthelimit's topic in General Maintenance
The fibreglass only strengthens and webs in the back of the work, you have to use a filler for the front [usually sold with the kits]. The filler is sandable and can be 'shaped' to suit. Don't sand through the filler though, cos you'll pick up the fibres of the fibreglass and you'll have a finish like an old pig. You shold use both products, the filler won't join parts together. -
Spotted Sunday, White R34 heading north on Northbourne, Siver SI R33 in Civic, sounded fat as............ On Monday, Blue R33 on Hume near Bookam

Dude in a Commo went crazy at me!
tridentt150v replied to Veilside R33's topic in Australian Capital Territory
The club/crowbar thing always reminds me of that scene in 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' where the big dude with the scimitar threatens Ford, and he just gets out his gun and blows him away. Crowbars don't equal guns, I reckon the GTFOH [Get the F outa Here] is the best way, otherwise u could end up D=E=A=D, or very second hand. -
I'll be in Canberra, but have other things to do after about 1630hrs, so can make any day meet, but not evening or night.

Air Con Probs..\SPENDING MONEY
tridentt150v replied to SkyGTRline's topic in Australian Capital Territory
Aircon, sounds like the condenser is freezing, this trips the aircon relay and it stops working, then u go 20 mins and it all trips in again [after it defrosts]. But this is only a rough guess, an aircon reco joint will check this out. Thats the problem with the new gases in an older system. Intercooler and boost control, easy stuff, do 'em yrself. May need an anglegrinder for the intercooler [depending on size], you usually have to cut the underside of the steel bumper bar behind the front bar [which is best off the car while fitting]. Most brackets etc come with the kit I think. Boost control/evc is a simple wiring job. Fibreglass can be done by u as well, go to hardware store and buy a canoe repair kit. Don't be afraid to sand back/cut out old cracks etc Zorst a bit harder, unless you have ramps or a hoist. I'd do all this myself, and save the wages for more mods.......hehehehehe -
Quoted $1950 over phone, I'm ripping it out and reinstalling myself, i've already got a boost controller and a z32 afm with blitz front mount and hks pod, bigger injectors, and fuel pump, so the thing stopping the power is likely the turbo. Get it done and then a power fc and ex. cam pulley, should make 240+. Hope to have it all done by xmas, but we'll see. I'll keep everyone posted, then you can decide if it is what you want etc. Also will have my old rechipped [250+km/h] puta for sale soon.

Whats happening hear lads/ladies, all of a sudden there are Skylines coming out of the country everywhere, did Australia suddenly become smarter????? Or is it becasue existing members are proactive???? Leading by example. Welcome Nugget_GTR, you are now part of an exclusive network, there are no stupid questions [except for the I was caught doing 180km/h in a 40 school zone, and I blew the bag 0.12, in my mates unregistered car which was defected for 13 items, was unlicensed at the time, I was discriminated against cos I drive an import, HOW CAN I GET OFF ????] We all learn from each other, what one person doesn't know, another will, everyone has a field of expertise [not necessarily Skyline related]. Come to a cruise, best thing going.
-
Yeah, wasn't trying to do that, but it doesn't help. You knew more than me then, I heard that there had been a fatalility, but didn't know details. Just take it easy, don't race, we don't have to prove anything at the lights etc, its a small moment of glory for the cost.
-
Did anyone see the news last night, big bad accident in Melbourne [i think], Skyline involved, didn't look good [but news reckoned two cars racing!!!!!!!!!!!!], not good pr.
-
Nothing wrong with middle aged, not all of us are still wearing 'kimbies'....lol, Skylines appeal to everyone [grey power]. On another note, I'll be in Canberra on Sunday 17th October anyway so thats convenient for me.
-
Ditto the cruise/photo shoot. Wrath........????????? don't u mean wrap, or cape.apologies to the big 'O'.........Roy of cause. I like black skylines, especially whales, but black is class.

Welcome this will make it all clearer..................not: I'm Danny, aka tridentt150v for SAU aka spitter, we have a sort of good vs evil club here, including Lycraman, his able assistant Spandex Boy, the evil Flash Bogan, Madam Lush the oracle [supposed to be able to read the future in leftover beer froth] and spitter the mentor with the loose lips [just don't stand too close if you don't want to get wet]. The rest of you can correct me if I'm wrong....................
-
If you've got a spider problem, catch crickets and then let 'em go in yr car, crickets eat spiders. I did this, got rid of all my spiders, but now I have a chirping sound under the dash and another one behind the door skin..........................................hhehehehehhehehahahahaha Buncha nancy boys.............. PS Been bitten by huntsman, and red back, redback made me a bit crook for a day or so, huntsman gave hot flush for an hour or so then nothing

Wheel bearing, broken valve spring, alternator bearing, manifold leak.

Its to do with the VVT [variable valve timing], if you install a cam wheel on the inlet side, you loose the VVT. The loss then outweighs the benefit. Thanks to SK for this advice. My debt to SK increases by the hour...........................[i'll end up having to sell my body to science just to get enough money to pay him].

No probs, glad to be able to give something back to the forum [on a topic I am conversant with]. Usually I am whinging and asking for help, so its a small change to be on the other side. Remember, don't use just any oil, it must be a faom air filter oil. And don't use any foam, the foam on your filter is an open cell and probably a dual or triple layer one - in each successive layer the open cell size is smaller. Therefore big dirt gets trapped on the outside, medium dirt in the middle, and fine dust is stopped by the last layer. Just make sure your filter is meant to be oiled [not all filters are engineered to be oiled, but the majority of foam filters are]. Get on the www and check out the manufacturers site for details.

BUT.....................tell me you didn't just post your request here Stirlo????????????????
