  1. Small update...raining too much to work on the car outside so not installed yet. The modified one is photographed alongside a Mk 3 Gtr wheel. I think it is anyway, I bought a a heap of series 3 GTR stuff off a guy including factory leather seats and the 'red' door cards, so I'm thinking the wheel came from the same guy, but I'm not sure, its been too long. NB Still looking for the small l/h cover as per previous post if anyone has one?
  2. Still looking! still want!
  3. The s/s backstrap of a wiper blade is just the right size for depressing the tab on connectors.
  4. fuel pressure? most workshops can do that for under $50 or so.
  5. Even stuff you use to clean the leather lounge works fine. You can actually get leather wipes at the supermarket.
  6. Essentially the same process for an R33 wheel. I've attached a few photo's showing the differences between 2 wheels I have. Note that the internals of these 2 wheels are not interchangeable. I have highlighted some of the differences. Hope this helps somebody.
  7. It will keep going.....the USA market is huge, they alone have probably doubled the worldwide demand - so same supply, but double the demand. Coupled to that, the US market is financially affluent - unlike in some countries - its not just a game for the rich. I know one day it will reach its 'saturation point' and they will move on, but that day is still a long way off.
  8. Guys I need one of these. Note they are labelled R and L. I need the left one. These covers give you access to the airbag/horn cover bolts.
  9. Ok looking for one of these to complete my wheel: if anyone has one they are willing to sell? The guy who sold me the wheel ripped me off, also said he would send the part - apparently he found it - this never ever happened. They are marked L and R, I need the left one.
  10. Not sure my working mans fingers could ever bend or apply that detail , he was very good - and extremely patient.
  11. Why not get yours rebuilt? Gotta be a better deal...just need to find the guy that does this. I used to know a business that did it, but I've not used him in ages now, and he is no longer showing up in the yellows or on the net...he might have retired. But somebody out there would be doing it surely?.
  12. Small update...just finished sanding and painting the exposed steel, Does anyone know the year model of steering wheels? The one I had modified has a largish [approx 50mm] side covers. It also has a black airbag cover but grey rear plastic turns out it was black, just a bit faded and dusty. it has an all steel centre. I also have another one that has small [approx 20mm] side covers. This one is all black, but red stitching, with an alloy centre. It is also slightly smaller in diameter. Wanted to get this one modified but I couldn't find it - just shifted into my new address and am still sorting stuff out. Think I'll see if I can put the all black items on my modded wheel, see if the steel and alloy are the same shape and size? Tried that, didn't work, the two steering wheels are different, the back plastic cover for the other wheel is smaller. So now I will have to get a can of black vinyl paint and give the plastic parts a freshen up.
  13. No, never needed to.
  14. I sometimes hit mine with degreaser in a can, then use the hose with a jet nozzle. Then I use soapy water and a brush and rinse that off as well. Then I chamois off all that I can see or reach. Afterwards though take your car for a nice long drive to boil the water away, and it might not all be gone, those spark plug wells hold the water. Had no problems doing this.
  15. And if they replace the heater hoses add another day.
  16. I'll get more as I assemble and install.
  17. Who woulda thought??? In the '80's Molly Meldrum used to wax on lyrically about him......I thought he was the biggest over-hyped non talented uninspired 'next greatest' ever. Thought he and Molly must have been in a relationship or something? But now, after 30+ years, he has finally found some of that much pushed and talked about talent......and its pretty impressive, but his 11 year old daughter is even more so:
  18. New from the Irons:
  19. Does it go away when the motor is warm? If it sounds like its under the timing cover, it could be a lazy lifter. Edit: Just listened and doesn't sound like one, but always hard to tell unless your right there. Try removing your front belts and trying for a few seconds, eliminate alternator, water pump power steering noises etc
  20. 16 years ago and from Russia with Love...good luck with that.
  21. New from Lake of Tears:
  22. No, the water pump is a 'sealed' unit, sealed bearings etc. You don't service it, you replace it when it starts to leak or gets noisy. And if you decide its time to replace it then - if your smart - you will buy a kit that includes idler pulley and timing belt etc etc. There are tutorials in the Tut section detailing the job. And a hot tip, buy a genuine Nissan water pump, they last longer. The chinese/brazilian versions are cheaper but lucky to last 12 months. Also try to get a proper RB25/26 un it rather than the RB30 version, both will fit but the dirty 30 version takes one less mounting bolt....and this is where your water pump will leak first.
