  1. Yeh the R34GTT comes stock with a front adjustable strut brace which goes from top of one strut to the other, it's a bit ugly looking but it's steel and apparently can be better than some of the aftermarket ones because although they look good the majority are aluminium which meanst they are lighter but generally not as strong. If i'm say... rolling into my driveway at a slow speed and pull the handbrake before the car is completely stationary it kind-of 'rocks' a bit.. hrrm.. I'm thinking after reading all this I might be best taking my car to a suspension place and getting them to have a look at everything and make adjustments/suggestions as this stuff is way out of my 'forum-knowledge field'. haha
  2. hrrm.. thanks heaps again Clutch, unfortunately I don't want to sacrifice any more comfort mainly due to the amount I drive and the roads and carparks I go down. I may get a front sway bar and then post the results in here as to what I find, its not thousands of dollars and worst case scenario I'll be paying for an expensive lesson if it doesnt feel good I'll take it off and know better for future. My car is shocking with grip already (mainly due to sh*tty compliance tires) so that may not be the best option for me (i'll get some nankangs or something when these go bald) Strut braces as in front strut bar? I have the stock adjustable front strut brace/bar and have read across many articles that rear strut bars are useless in R34 gtt's due to the suspension set-up. I think I read something from Sydneykid explaining it in depth. Ultimately I'm looking to reduce body roll, and as noob as this might sound I also have this thing that when I stop my car and pull up the handbrake the car rocks back and forth a bit not sure if its normal but it feels like the whole chassis is rocking on the suspension or something..
  3. Clutch cheers for the info mate, I was looking to upgrade both but I may do the front first and see how she feels then I suppose I could get the back one at a later stage and if it really makes things worse due to lift I could always take it back off i guess. Would it be then safe to say that front and rear heavy sway bars are ideal for a GTR (being 4wd) or have I got this wrong? (suspension baffles me) Mad, don't get me wrong I love the BC Racing coilovers I paid $1250 for the BR ones (not the REAL budget ones) and they were a great improvement over my previous crappy suspension (some no-brander from Japan). They have adjustable 32 point damper settings which I've been told is a little excessive and uneccesary. Admittedly I installed these myself which only took a few hours and I'm no mechanic just like to give things a shot. I haven't had them adjusted by a workshop but I'm tossing up whether to get the swaybar(s) and get it all looked at and adjusted at once rather than going back and forth. My car is a daily driver in Perth and our roads and carparks are absolutely horrible so I do have the dampening setting closer to soft than hard but I've been told this mainly affects how much you feel bumps, my concern is more so with the bodyroll i get on corners which is why i was looking at swaybar(s). Sorry for the essay just really chasing an answer as well mate, hopefully we get more good feedback like Clutchs. Cheers
  4. Hey bud I really hope somebody gives a good answer to this question. I posted a similar question not long ago and didn't really get any responses. I also own an R34 GTT Sedan and would like to do some work on the handling. I've got BC Racing Coilovers and have been told they are ok but the spring rates are a little soft so I still get body-roll. I've been looking for a while at getting adjustable whiteline swaybars. If anybody at all can answer Mad's question please also add whether it is best to buy the adjustable swaybars (and any part numbers if you know them) and also whether it is something that can just be installed at home or if its best left to a suspension workshop to install and adjust. I've been told Mad that if you get the part number(s) you can order them through Repco, don't know if this is the best way to do it though in terms of price etc. Cheers, Steve
  5. Hey mate try http://www.importmonster.com.au/yahoo?auction=yahoo&cat= you can search through their site and it translates to english for you (it's still really hard to understand and doesnt make sense but usually you can get the idea). I've not actually ordered through them before so don't know about costs involved etc but there is info on the site. cheers, Steve
  6. Cheers mate that's awesome, I've not been able to find any comparison as most people at this stage have upgraded the turbo. This is going to be a huge noob question and I expect flaming (please be gentle). From everything I've read the R34GTT is 206kw out of the factory (not sure how true this is as all data points to the r32 gtr being the same so I was thinking this may of been a lie due to power restrictions in Japan =/ ) I'm gathering the 206kw is measured at the flywheel or something because I'd be shattered if all my mods and money and time added 9kw =/ If i were to go on the basis that my car stock is 206kw at the flywheel and I may be hoping to expect 215kw at the rear wheels is there any easy way of determining (even very roughly) how much of a power increase I've gone to from stock. (ie does anybody know the stock rwkw for an r34gtt) End of the day I don't want to be hektik and get a tune just for numbers on a sheet, i want real world response and really love and enjoy my car i'm just questioning this for curiosities sake and with the hope of learning/understanding a little more.
  7. Cheers mate, 12psi max seemed to be the going consensus from all the info I've read so I think I will just ask to make that the max and in all your wisdom I wouldn't second guess it now you've said it also. thanks Nismoid.
  8. Yeh mate, not your problem - if you are really worried just have a read of the contract you signed and it should be pretty clear that once he agrees to the purchase the car and all its associated problems are his whether you were at fault or his poor inspection. In all of this I would have no legal worry my only worry would be that this guy doesnt sound like a mental giant and is already dishonest from the way your story reads I would be more concerned that somebody this retarded knows where you live and whilst he might be threatening with legal action as soon as he finds out he doesnt have a leg to stand on he may take out his frustration on your house. Any threats he makes I would keep record of and just keep a close eye on your place and your car and hopefully he will stop being a douche, grow some nuts and just fix the car himself and deal with it. all the best.
  9. Cheers Wolverine appreciate the assistance dude. The tuner is really good and has a good reputation so maybe it would be best to address these queries with him direct, he's just a very busy man and don't wanna bug him too much with being a noob. On the basis that it could last 1 day or 2 years I think you're right in saying to go with my instinct - 2 years would be cool coz I'm sure I'd have cash for a new turbo by then but if it lasts any shorter than that I could be carless for a while.
  10. Hi All, I have an R34 GTT manual sedan with specs as follows; Stock turbo and internals Splitfire coilpacks Iridium spark plugs Exedy HD clutch and lightened flywheel Walbro 550lhp in-tank fuel pump Blitz turn-flow cooler Cooling pro alloy radiator BC racing coilovers R32 76.5deg thermostat Exhaust from the turbo back with hi-flow cat Profec B Spec II Basically I wanted to do all the supporting mods so that in a weeks time when i get the PFC + handcontroller installed and tuned it should all be fairly safe and it's about as far as my budget could stretch before going the next step of a new turbo and bigger injectors etc. Basically I was wondering if anybody else had similar mods running a stock turbo and how they've found it, what sort of boost you're running and any advice on the best high and low boost settings. I was thinking low of 7 and high of 12 but I've spoken to a few people who think low 10 and high 14 would be acceptable. Any help would be greatly appreciated in the way of real-world experience, kw/hp numbers achieved and any pros and cons. I realise the 34 turbo is ceramic and can shatter at high speeds so I want to be relatively cautious until I can afford a new turbo down the track. cheers, Steve
  11. Meh, I think your suggestion is kind and it's a nice idea in essence but I don't believe it would affect anything in regards to the 'hoon' reputation slapped onto skyline drivers.. ACA an TT have already saturated Australia with its BS reports and even if we each helped out 10 people a week the mentality would stick. If helping people out created a good reputation everybody would absolutely love cops, sadly as with most things it's the bad experiences that are remembered. IE: 100 people with skylines help 100 poor little old ladies with their broken down cars, 1 guy drifts and has his hektik mates record it the 'news' gets a hold of it and a few million people make their mind up that Skyline = hoon. /end rant
  12. Yeh, thanks Brad that would be awesome.. although to improve the ability to read it easily I was thinking on top of the drivers side-view mirror with a bit of double-sided tape then I can wind down the window and reach out and set it as I require. And Bubba.. you should smother paint over some bewbz and use it as an advertisement for your business, i'd definitely come play if I believed there would be paint-smeared juggaloons..
  13. ='( I put so much effort into that pic and nobody cares... Cruel bastards.. I should of uploaded some bewbz next to it and hoped it would get some attention..
  14. This is the first time I've ever uploaded an image.. go easy.. And cheers to everybody for the advice so far..
  15. Hi all, Installing boost controller and PFC and getting a tune in the next few weeks. I've been told any 'in-car' engine management is illegal so I was wondering if any of the WA lads have had trouble with this in the past and where you may of mounted yours on your R34 to best conceal it. I have a profec b spec 2 if this affects anything and I suspect that once tuned I wont be touching it much (low boost at 5 high at maybe 12 on stock turbo). I suppose normal place is under the steering wheel or either side of it but this is pretty noticeable from what I've seen, maybe could get away with saying its a turbo timer =/ Cheers in advance, any pics will help greatly guys. ta, Steve
  16. I'm on a boat + repeat button = appropriate R33 playlist
  17. I just helped my mate get a beautiful 350GT through Autoworx. The biggest thing i've been advised to check with these is the electrics, they are on some sort of computer bus and adding or taking ANYTHING from it can cause problems (audio, alarm etc). As for the satnav/tv there is apparently a dude in Vic park in Perth which can swap it over to a dvd player for $250 or something, one of the V35 guys may know better depending on state etc. (don't know where you are located) Swapping it over to English wouldn't really be worth it I dont think because you wont get TV or Satnav anyways as they are programmed to Jap satellites etc. All of the above is second hand knowledge so I'm not sure as to how correct it is but they are a very nice car judging by my mates.. (also I recommend manual not sure if the 350GT model comes in tiptronic or CVT but I've heard CVT can have problems and costs a fortune to fix). cheers, Steve
  18. Hey bud, I'd look at going a full exhaust system first - pod filters don't cost much and generally you won't notice much difference. I've been told for handling 17's are the best choice but if you're going for look I suppose you could go 18's. Just be mindful of things like offset as well as the tyres rubbing the guards may require rolling etc etc.. Suspension as Jason said you would be looking at a high price for quality suspension, if you're on a budget you could look at the BC racing coilovers, do a search under title and there is a whole post on them. I have them on my R34 Sedan and they've been great so far and cost around the $1200 mark for the BR model. Do LOTS of searching in these forums and just take all the advise with a pinch of salt and you should learn plenty. Best of luck mate. Steve
  19. Lachlan... LOL... and Shuang fk off with your cheap attempt at spam-advertising.. eat a d*ck mate.. or better yet ^ what he said
  20. I found this, and was going to get them myself - seems like a reasonable price and they are Nismo so should be decent quality as well.. I'm just unsure about the 60mm part, is this too long =/ would really like to know the stock length lugs first.
  21. Hey bud, I need to replace mine with longer ones but don't know the stock length.. When you do this could you please do me a huge favour and tell me how long the stock lug bolts are so I can buy longer ones? I found this guide for you, hopefully it helps you a bit; http://www.skylineowners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=135171 cheers, Steve
  22. 2LV8ETR - Cheers for clearing that up mate, apologies I realised what I wrote was quite angry (I was in a bad mood). I harbour no ill feelings toward anybody just a shame that people have to wreck what would otherwise be really enjoyable.. payback21 - Fair enough, I did mention I wasn't sure but I did come across in a very accusing manner and I apologize - I hope that we can weed out these tools across the various clubs coz they are just f**king it up for everybody. Best of luck on your cruise mate. Cheers, Steve
  23. Hey dude no offense but I was on a cruise last night and apparently so was west coast cruisers.. Not sure if everybody attending was part of the club etc but it was chock full of f**kHEADS... In fact.. if you are 2LV8ETR then you were on the same cruise and would know exactly what I'm talking about... WAY TOO MANY hektic fully sick people with neons, shitty huge chrome rims, pumping stereo systems with gay homie 50 cent music, engine revving and wheelspin at take-off etc etc.. and at the Karrinyup meetpoint some top bloke almost ran a bunch of us over in his Commonwhore wagon he didn't even attempt to slow down as he sped through the carpark (arm out the window trying to touch the ground of course).. If last nights cruise was in fact a west coast cruisers event then it doesn't stand well against the club, not a chance I'd bring my baby out amongst the commodore faggots after seeing their childish behavior last night, I'd just join anti-lag if I was interested in acting like a f**kwit and being anti-social for the sake of looking hektik. *please note I'm not 100% sure it was a west coast cruisers event or the dickheads were members but of the 30-40 cars only a handful weren't cockmunchers* cheers
  24. I'm so farkin excited!! Just gave the beast a wash, bit of meguiars super extra tire shine.. secured subs so they dont fly around in my boot for no reason (they tend to do this).. And best of all I get to meet all of you.. especially rowan.. what a vet.. =) (no homo)
