  1. Capt'n Chin on F1.com Q: Formula One innovations of the past - ground effect, active suspension, turbocharging, six wheels, the list goes on. If you could bring back one past innovation, what would it be and why? MW: 1300 horsepower. Big engines and big noise. That is what fans relate to Formula One. Q: What innovations would you like to see in the future? MW: Bring back refuelling. It is better to drive cars that are lighter.
  2. Speak to AVO and ask them what can be done to bring the boost on earlier or speak to a new tuner if you are unhappy with their answers. It's a boost control issue so actuator + boost controller + tuning on the ramp to boost + boost leaks are places to look.
  3. Lazy coming on boost. Good news as this can be fixed.
  4. 2nd hand RB manifolds are cheap and dime a dozen, stick and advert in wanted to buy section.
  5. Is this a trick question? What is wrong with your GT35/40?
  6. I think you should spend some time trying to get the most out of what you have. I am pretty sure there is room to make more earlier. I have an old school GT3040 on my R33 and whilst there are better things out there today it still makes power pretty much everywhere a current GT3076 (due to variance on dynos mine looks better than some and worse than others). It probably has a penalty on transient response. I have no reason to take it off and update at this point. BTW the GT3040 is the turbo that seems to most resemble what you have. Have you got a plot with boost on it? (I might have missed it) I would want to be sure there was no leaks, that the boost control was setup the best way possible and that the tune was perfect on the ramp to boost before I would consider removing the turbo. If you need to take it a second tuner to diagnose these things it might be worth the time and effort.
  7. ARR is area radius ratio. If the area is different then the ratio is not comparable. It is only comparable within housings of the same type.
  8. a 0.7 AVO housing is not comparable to a 0.82 or a 0.63 garrett housing so don't sweat that.
  9. ps. I run the factory springs with the Bilsteins which seems to give pretty reasonable compliance.
  10. Darrinspencer has done one from memory.
  11. The GTX3071 looks the pick with the wider islands but if it doesn't perform any better than a garden variety 76mm GT wheel then why spend the extra coin. I think most of us where expecting GT3076 like power with earlier spool from the 71mm GTX wheel. Personally I would not have chosen the GTX3076.
  12. The Gizzmo should be fine but there might be issues with pre-load on the wastegate or vaccuum leaks. It seems like there is still some room to optimise it.
  13. Lith, the HKS2835ProS on the stagea makes 16psi at 3300rpm (150rwkw at 3500rpm and 180rwkw at 4000rpm). I am not sure how much earlier power could be brought on with more time on the dyno but this where it ended up last time out. The car was on the dyno on a bull$hit hot >40deg day and the skinny OEM radiator wasn't coping well with temps becoming uncontrollable . Additionally we hit a boost limit around here where it wouldn't make more power...I think I have sorted that issue out as I suspect the stock BOV was cracking open here. This needs to be dynoed at some point with the new radiator and BOV mods.
  14. 100rwkw at 3900rpm is pretty late making power. Do you have a plot of boost as well? It seems to be in quite late which makes me wonder if there is some improvements to be had with better boost control.
  15. Sell them as singles to mates with SR's and buy -5's.
  16. It is the same engine and turbo as the R34 GT-t so being a stagea should make no difference.
  17. I'll get the yellow RS4S 2835ProS powered shopping trolley out and see if I can cut up sik in the car park at Coles later tonite.
  18. Great product and service like I was saying the other day.
  19. Why do you want or need to fry tyres at 3000rpm in 4th gear? Wheel spin in 4th gear sounds pretty useless to me.
  20. x2 shave the engine mount for the HKS manifold with a GT30/35 sized turbo. The 0.63 with an external gate should hold fine have you tried this combo. IW 0.63 GT3076's are known for having some issues with boost control.
  21. ....actually the way Raikonnen is going on the tooth he might need an extra widebody F1 car if he makes a come back. I wonder what mods they made to get Tony Stewart in the MP4-23 did they graft the A to B pillars from a BA Falcon with a seat located in the middle to fit him in? It would have left room for space to sit a pizza, a couple of burgers and cupholders for a big gulp. I would love to see more taller/bigger drivers have a shot at F1 but realistically it is a sport for rich midgets.
  22. Lots of us have bought them from new. As you already know, specify fork ends for the rears. I don't have the part numbers at hand as they were installed 4 years ago.
  23. The R33 doesn't need the temp sensor so I just pushed it back thru the grommet. I think R32's need the sensor (happy to be corrected).
