  1. The dyno doesn't tell everything about drivability and rolling response but it hardly looks like a major upgrade at this point. GTX3071 is the one I want to see. The airflow map of that turbo looks like a real improvement.
  2. Deatschwerks supply a flow test at 70% and 100% (or thereabouts) for each individual injector.
  3. As far as I understand RIPS won't have a neo head lying around. So you will probably need to prep your own head if you go this way and just buy the bottom end with the required fruit you have just listed.
  4. I personally would start from scratch and write off the cost (try to get a return credit) and get a T3 turbo with known turbine/compressor housing combos. The cost of buying and machining turbine and compressor housings from here will prove an expensive exercise with no real guarantee of a good result.
  5. Deatschwerks still make them but you need to contact them directly and ask for them. Apparently they can't keep up with demand to keep them in stock on the shelves.
  6. Obviously a higher comp engine will be more responsive, never get an argument from me on that front. Price of using a stock 30 bottom end might be a reason to go this way, after all RIPS can't have it all wrong. I would argue your friend needed a smaller turbo to make some airflow down low to compensate for the lower compression. Going to a larger turbo (albeit larger turbine in your example) surely would have made it doggier down low.
  7. Call a few turbo places but I had my last one supplied by MTQ.
  8. New CHRA is about $1100ish so you can work backwards or forwards from there.
  9. HKS GT-RS sounds like it is made for your application.
  10. Why highish comp? I would have thought a 2835ProS will spool up happily regardless. A stock 30 bottom end would be cheap and do the job by my internet/keyboard warrior reckoning.
  11. I want my pizzas delivered by this guy.
  12. Why are you interested in testing the stock pump for flow? (genuine question) The regulator controls the amount of fuel the engine sees the rest sent back to the fuel tank. A higher flowing pump should flow more but by the same token the engine should see that same amount of fuel (unless the factory pump was unable to deliver enough fuel to the rail due to failing or significant increases in demand on the engine side).
  13. Is the CR of RIPS standard bottom end builds pretty close to 8:1? I seem to remember this is about where they come out.
  14. pm sent
  15. the bracket is angled in a S1/S2 stagea so you might have fuel pickup issues when the tank becomes more empty with an 040 due to its open base. The 044 despite being an external pump is fine in tank but you need a few fittings to make it work ie. sock etc. A genuine walbro will do the job and is easier to fit than an 040/044. Nismo stagea pump is direct fit, costs a little more but reduces on labour costs if you paying someone else to fit it. (All fuel pumps are affected by voltage not just walbros).
  16. The GTX flow maps are different. I assume they have updated the wheel design as well. http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarrett/catelog/Turbochargers/GT30/GTX3071R_803712_1.htm
  17. ^^ I agree plenty of good low km cars in Japan.
  18. I changed the timing belt as soon as the car arrived from Japan despite the car showing less than 100,000km (and with log books that seem consistent) just to be sure. Timing needs to be set with a timing light.
  19. Ejector seat, flame thrower or RPG switch?
  20. My R33 has a vertical bracket.
  21. What turbo is it Dave?
  22. Sure we can agree but everyone has to promise to forget how to use the search function.... so we can do it all over again in six months.
  23. For those that attended yesterday a big thank you to Wing and Unigroup. The tuning workshop was fantastic value. For me the best concept I grasped was in understanding the combustion pressure changes either side of top dead centre. A very long and enjoyable day. ps. straight out of the box the rough tune on DVS32R's car wasn't shabby.
  24. I think the power loss will be relatively fixed. I'm sure we went over this a few times before & I thought it was settled by the suggestion that adding a 100 shot of nitrous would increase wheel hp by 100hp. Does that sound about right Trent?
