  1. Go figure. It is a shame it degraded but Phil has been around the block a few times with his car and a few of us have experienced these issues and seen these threads a number of times with the result nearly always being aging brittle hoses or old hose clamps.
  2. An Incredible lap by the Hulk. Poor Massa the last thing he needed was wet weather. Is that chit chat about MW possibly going to Ferrari for real?
  3. Maybe MW is putting some public pressure on RBR to extract their digits and tell the golden child to take one for the team. Inconvenient indeed having him in front at this stage. Sooking is the other possibility....lol.
  4. It has conservative AFR's (perhaps a bit conservative) so some of the power is to be gained by leaning it back towards 12:1 but I suspect there is more to be gained in ignition timing to wake it up earlier. RB26's respond well with adjustable cam gears so if you are getting it retuned then investing in some time on the dyno setting them up can reap some good rewards. Unfortunately sitting here in our loungerooms we don't have all the info so there may be other issues hence the need to take the car to someone with a known history of great results with RB's and PowerFC.
  5. Boost leak x3 ish Look for split hoses etc
  6. I agree Vettel has been unlucky. He is genuinely quick (last race he was 7 hundredths quicker in quali than MW) all done under pressure. He is a potential WDC. He has also made rash decisions, he has damaged wings, he has crashed into his team mate, he has crashed into Button, he seems to be harder on engines and drivelines hence the failure rate has been higher, he has been given uncompromised pit strategies and still he is barely a mathematical chance unless Alonso bins it. Plus he is a bit of dick. Webber choked last time out which sucks for me because I know he isn't the most talented driver, physically he is handicapped by the size of his frame, he is a whisker slower today than he was a few years ago but he finally has a tier 1 car and a genuine opportunity, additionally I am a patriotic. Carn WEBBER!! (If he can't win I am going for Mr Handsome)
  7. I would be very tempted to have a cheapy turbotech boost controller handy just in case the PFC boost controller is either playing up or has been setup poorly. $30 is cheap to rule out a potential problem. Wastegate pre-load is still the most likely issue that needs to be checked. I just swapped a GT-RS for a 2835ProS on the Stagea and it made 262rwkw at 16psi (bleeding to 15psi) and it was all in pretty much around 3300rpm (from memory). I know there is more average power to be had with fine tuning light, light/medium load but the headline number is pretty consistent with other results. You will sort it out.
  8. ^^ StockyMcStock did the twin charging
  9. Mark Webber would be a world champion already without bad luck too. Nice try Talbo but you can't rewrite the scoreboard on coulda shoulda woulda's otherwise Barrichello and a host of others would have been multiple world champions too.
  10. The Baron knocking a bad idea on the head before someone gets hurt...... you aren't Quick Draw you are El Kabong.
  11. Be kind to Jason, the poor bugger might have a poor set up on the rear end of his car. Have you had a wheel alignment since you have owned the car and if so what was the rear camber? I would be having a good close look at that first as excessive negative camber made mine a pig in the wet when it landed ex-Japan.
  12. Don't get me wrong extrude honing is very cool, it feels like oily glass when it is finished but trying to measure a substantial difference is next to impossible for most of us. Perhaps on a race team budget it would be worthwhile to sneak any incremental gain but on a heavy car like the stagea it would be money better put towards an RB30. What turbo are you running? $500 sounds about the money that was paid by Legend01 when he owned the manifold.
  13. Ok, if the head has been skimmed it is possible that the cam gears need adjusting, bolting them back where they were might have them slightly advanced or retarded. There is adjustment on the back side of the factory gears. This might be another avenue to run down if there is still some head scratching.
  14. If base timing is set correctly (and assuming the timing belt is not out a tooth or anything mechanical) it leaves the tune as the most likely reason. Dave if the car is pinging it is running more timing than it needs. What changes has the tuner made to the car? Do you have any printouts of the AFR's? How much power is it making?
  15. I have an extrude honed HKS manifold. It flows more evenly pre to post but unless they create a new decimal scale of increments along a bees dick I don't think it will prove to be great value versus other modifications for a light to moderately modified car.
  16. How many litres is the hioctane sump? From reading the linked page it says "This sump holds 8.5-9L and has internal swinging gates to control the oil " price $1600
  17. Edited: Here is a link to hioctanes sump. http://www.hioctanedirect.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=1192 then the rest of the oil control stuff http://www.hioctanedirect.com/index.php?ma...amp;cPath=67_74
  18. I don't think the CAS is faulty it just sounds like it needs to be checked by a reputable tuner.
  19. List of parts and prices?
  20. Rather than start a flaming war with the southerners why don't we just send you back in time and relocate you to Victoria just before you bought your first RB26. That should square the books then we can get talking about important things like which "atmo bov" or "I did a search and couldn't find anything...honest"
  21. I agree, the btmbl is a good product. Some split pipes fowl the wastegate flaps so buying one is a risk but the main reason for my opinion is based on back to back testing of split vs bellmouth. The bellmouth made more power earlier which I believe is due to having a larger chamber for exhaust gases to expand. We have had some threads on dump design and optimal angles of expansion of pipework from the turbine outlet to get best performance, if I can dig it up I will link it. This does not mean that a split dump is a bad option but it isn't the best option in my experience.
  22. the GT-RS bolts up to the factory dump flange and therefore doesn't come with its own dump like the HKS ProS kits.
  23. I hate when my balls drag in oil too. I am very keen to see how this turbo goes.
  24. No you don't. You want a nice fat bellmouth. Give the expanding exhaust gases the lowest pressure area to expand. Also, you don't want issues with the gate fowling on the wastegate pipe that can be a result of the split pipes.
