  1. Go with your instinct. 12psi high boost is "relatively" safe and you will get about 200rwkw +/-10kw This has been covered to death. It is possible it might last 2 years it might last 1 day but commonsense should tell you that the lowest level of boost you can get away with and get still get reasonable performance is the best place to set the peak boost. A good tuner should know what is reasonable.
  2. Buy a 2nd hand S2 stagea engine and save your money full stop. If you must rebuild then go to the trouble of a dirty 30....if not why spend the money for no gain. $10- $12k later the HKS 2535 won't make any more power than a stock bottom end will cope with.
  3. The 0.82 is fine and delivers fairly linear power. The turbine housing you are using is not your issue so I wouldn't worry about changing it. There is more power to be had when you sort out the issue/s. Definitely drop the cat on the dyno and rule out the most obvious stuff first get your mechanic to check that the timing marks line up.
  4. Timing belt might be out a tooth. When was it last changed? (I have a GT3040 (0.82 turbine housing) making 278rwkw at 17psi on 98ron)
  5. Nah, were you pissed or stoned weren't ya. Why you would want to make your own mongrel when the turbo shops have done the work with their own hi-flows or you can buy an off the shelf item from Garrett or Hks beats me. 240rwkw is firmly in GCG hi-flow range, HKS GT-RS in ball bearing or Hypergear can sort out one of his bushbearing turbos and you can benefit from their R&D. Problem solved.
  6. I had the twin outlet Xforce on the stagea with a reasonable mid muffler. I am a bit of a fan of the sound of that combo. (3" exhaust) Mrs Wolv wanted the car dead quiet so the rear muffler was replaced with a monster custom made straight through. From memory it is 18"x12"x8" the largest thing we could fit in. It is very very quiet now.
  7. Prepsol or equivalent to get the glue/tape goop off.
  8. I am not sure if you were drinking or smoking something last night but I bet your post made lots of sense when you typed it. Seriously, WTF? Turbos are air pumps. What car, what engine, what use (daily/track/strip), what power level do you want? Answer these questions and give the forum something to work with. Standard nissan housings are used for convenience to allow the turbo to remain stock looking and are machined out with larger turbine and compressor wheels fitted. Hi-flowed turbos generally seem to struggle when larger than 450hp cores are fitted but there are hybrid housing from new castings or with compressor housing changes are making more power with a cost of downlow response. There is lots of information on these topics from hypergears turbo thread somewhere just below this post through to wealth of posts over the last 7 years or so on what works and what doesn't.
  9. x3 I thought the track ran the other way and the run into the last corner would be fun.....
  10. Turbotech are a good product. In my experience, as the boost level climbs, slight incremental turns can lead to large changes in boost. For a stock turbo or modest boost levels they are hard to beat. (I am sure others have had success with higher boost levels).
  11. ..and the flexible wings and floor are also close enough.
  12. Close enough.... ......did I see him rolling back a bit to make it look better? Someone was asleep in officialdom.
  13. Seb said it was the bump in the braking zone. It certainly was the sawing on the wheel under brakes......no way.
  14. You mean the wings that passed scrutineering all season? I bet if McLaren designed them it would be called clever engineering. I met a large Italian woman with a bit of a beard happening in Asciano last year Roy. I'm not saying the loving would be awesome but you will be well fed if you bag her.
  15. I am going to cross my fingers that another couple of incidents from SV and team orders might come down on him. That would burn.
  16. I squealed like a little girl (inadvertantly) when it happened. I also enjoyed him tangling with backmarkers. Hamilton must have changed his undies post race after running wide onto the gravel and kissing the wall but he had control of the race so no harm done.
  17. Go Webber P1 again. It will be tough to stay in front of Hamo on the first lap but he has to be happy.
  18. quali delayed 30mins or so in Sydney due to Swans vs Lions.
  19. Max Mosley would tend to agree with a little smacking but I think it would be wrong to dress the kids as prisoners of war and take ze punishment from the grid girls. That is something that us adults should jump the fence for.
  20. My standard R33 has a externally gated GT3040 from GCG and it makes 18psi comfortably before 4000rpm, the delivery is linear. (0.82 turbine housing) I am not disagreeing that if Bryce was buying today go for a GT3071 or GT3076 but given that he already has a GT3040 sitting there it seems worthwhile to bolt it on and see how it feels. There is a probably a loss in response due to the larger comp wheel size but geez if I was carrying around 300kg less in my car it would be hard to notice.
  21. Can LH afford that hefty fine? It is like a fine dished out to the Scuderia by the FIA.
  22. It won't help. Find another mechanic..
  23. Yep HKS GTRS on S2 Stagea with K&N filter. The cut and insert solid pipe per rev210 and issue gone. You still need to be mindful that the filter can be a restriction causing the pipe walls to suck in so the filter should be cleaned if dirty or replaced as needed.
