  1. Can I ask whether there is need of another forum for fat slugs?
  2. I have a couple in Sydney if you need one
  3. Followed by the Merc's blowing past them on the long straights...
  4. Hulkenberg is ready. He needs to start dating one of Bernie's daughters to get the money.
  5. Come on guys.... ...I'm sure you are trying everything Bieber is getting a little testy.
  6. Button needs consider diving into the harbour before the race. He is taking up space on the grid these days.
  7. I'd love to see some hard evidence that manual and auto have different exhaust cams and different turbos. Series 1 are obviously different from Series 2. (compressor wheel from memory)
  8. Mercs already quick in FP1. Wet session for FP2 scrambled things a bit but it looks a little ominous given the times that LH made on the soft tyre were hard for others to match on supersofts.
  9. I bought a second hand one from an S1 ages ago but just never got around to fitting it. Apparently the diaphragm?? in the original one was folded up and wasn't dropping back where it should. So good to get rid of that confounded noise. Andrew @ ASR fitted it, it was pretty simple afaik.
  10. Finally changed the accumulator after all these years. The ticking relay noise is gone.
  11. I also suffered a massive brain fade. MRC fit and tune Nistune in Castle Hill.....NOT I repeat NOT Hills Motorsports. Mark can desolder the old board and resolder the new one, load in the correct base image and if you want they can tune it although I have never used them for tuning but I believe they are competent and reasonable.
  12. The stock turbo could last another week, it could last another decade. I would upgrade the turbo, the fuel pump, injectors and the afm but it's not my money. In terms of what turbo, check the hypergear thread for a hiflow or other suitable bolt on option. For injectors and fuel pump speak to Scotty who you can find in the Stagea section. The only suggestion when it comes to turbos on a Stagea is not to get too greedy on sizing. Something that is more responsive on these heavy cars is the way to go IMO.
  13. Stock turbo, 10-11psi boost and tune will get you there then.
  14. It is time to take a deep breath and work out what you really want from the car before making the next step. If you are making the jump to modify then you will most likely need a FMIC, boost controller, Nistune, hiflow turbo or decent aftermarket, decent catalytic converter, fuel pump and bigger injectors. If you are prepared to live with the stock turbo you can leave out the bigger injectors and possibly the fuel pump but I would still make sure the rest is done. Take your time deciding because every time you change your mind it costs more money to R&R parts and then you need to pay to retune.
  15. Why? RB30 will shit all over it every day of the week. If you are going to pull an engine you might as well put in something that will perform noticeably better than an RB25.
  16. What mods do you have already? What are your aims?
  17. I have been through my share of turbos and aftermarket parts on both cars. So I am hardly having a go at anyone for doing the same as I have done. Usually the best results came from carefully thinking out what I wanted and paying the right price for the item. Nearly every shortcut I took ended up taking longer to sort out the issues created.
  18. "Free turbo" or "got this turbo cheap" have been the cause of more head scratching threads than almost any other topic.
  19. You can get places like Hills Motorsports to fit the Nistune if you don't want to send it off. There are other places who can install the board and base image as well but you need to do a little research on the Nistune site.
  20. 0.45v at idle btw. They concluded the afm is ok....so they tested it when the car was hot and not starting? It is an easy fix to resolder the contacts yourself OR pay someone (but obviously more expensive) OR try a known good one. This is common problem so why not make sure it is working correctly. I doubt it is the ecu. Most issues with the ecu happen due to poor contacts with the loom but that usually causes issues from cold. Checking that the ecu is making good contact ie. there is no "banana-ing" with the contacts or there are no pins pushed in.
  21. Especially with the news that the grandchildren are kicking some goals in racing over the last week.
  22. Pack it in till next year
  23. Marquez, ordinary first lap but carving through them like a hot knife through butter. Rossi running in front with 21 laps to go.
  24. If I haven't written it up Arras is outstanding value in the fine dining space. 3 courses (actually 6) $90, 5 courses (actually 8) $110 or their degustation for $140 (which is overkill IMO) is hard to beat. They have an old school but custom built cheese cart with 10-15 cheeses. They are in the old Becasse site in Clarence St. Carpet and high backed chairs (vs the current trend of hard fittings and nightclub loud music). The last hidden course is a "happy ending" with a grown up Willy Wonka-esque ode to all things sweet. For a special occasion or to impress the missus when you are considering stumping up to go to one of Sydney's more serious restaurants then Arras is worth a shot. ps. Not a lawyer and not the PM but I do work a lot of hours and put a bit aside to go out every 3 months or so.
