CRD have a some sort of 'new' GT30 turbine cover. whether it is a VG/OP6 housing or some new casting isn't clear but worth keeping an eye out since they will be posting some details in the next week or so.
andrew @ CRD would be worth asking before committing to an externally gated turbo which will have a number of extra costs to get up and running. check the CRD trader adverts here.
the issue is....you are strapping a 400hp turbine to a 500hp compressor. choking the exhaust side would be a tragedy with cams and a ported head.
a GT2871 is a closer match but you need to get a T3 flanged turbine housing (which garrett haven't made....unless there is one now?) so you need to have it shoehorned into a standard nissan housing OR buy the HKS version of the GT2871 the HKS GT-RS which has a specific HKS T3 housing.
having had both a GCG hi-flow and a HKS GT-RS on our stagea i can say there is not much between them in performance.
i think you should be looking at a GT3071 or the GT3076 both with the 60mm turbine in a 0.82 turbine housing. (don't choose the 0.63 housing).
with the cams and headwork the GT3076 will get you an easy 275rwkw without wringing its neck and personally that is what i would go for. if i could specify the 52trim compressor then that would be the icing on the cake (ie approx 475hp comp) which lowers it top end potential but should bring it on a whisker earlier than the 56trim version.
hi tangles
the turbo listings you have there aren't quite correct but in simple terms the HKS 2835 (ProS i am guessing you mean) has more in common with the GT3071 as they share the same compressor but the HKS version has a cropped 56mm turbine (vs 60mm turbine on the GT3071) and has a HKS designed internally gated turbine housing. both more or less are 450hp turbos.
the GT3076R has the same turbine as the GT3071 but a larger compressor ie 76mm compressor. more or less a 500hp turbo.
the GT2876 is something not worth looking at as the turbine is too small to flow enough for the compressor it is strapped to.
umm, yeah but wynyard is in the heart of the city.
lane cove is a drive from the airport thru the harbour tunnel and out to lane cove with very few stops (if any) till you get to lane cove. any time that is off peak will be a pretty quick ride. as long as you avoid the afternoon peak it will be a snip.
they can go cutesy and take you out via victoria rd and avoid a toll but probably add another $5-10 for the time sitting in traffic.
it will probably cost $40 or so for a cab from the airport/lanecove if there is traffic about.
for the money and time i would jump straight in a cab (unless someone can pick you up).
Sydney, Wagga, Narranderra, Ouyen, Adelaide.
(i hope i have that correctly listed)
that route was a good trip about 10 years ago approx 13hrs with racing pitstops for fuel and greasy food.
at that price the whiteline units look like good longer term value and reasonably priced too.
the cheaper arms like ISC are selling will do the job if you are on a tight budget.
if the plug/loom is the same as an R33 then there should be no other modifications required for an R33 GTS-t PowerFC.
if the plug and loom is the same as the R34 then you will need to modify the loom to fit an R34 Gt-t PowerFC.
the tweak relates to the R34 GT-t having traction control and the stageas NOT having traction control (with the exception of some RWD versions). the R34 GT-t PowerFC requires a certain voltage to pin 51 or it lights the engine check light.
you need to find out which plug you have as that will determine the outcome. if a workshop has both R33 and R34 PowerFC's handy then that makes it easy.
i have a cushion button supplied by UAS clutch supplier which is reasonable to use with >240rwkw but i would choose an organic clutch with higher clamp than standard next time.
i have a jim berry organic with decent clamp on the R33 with >275rwkw and this is much easier to live with day to day. due to weight the stagea is a bit more of a pain to get off the line.
i fitted a set of eccentric bushes and they don't go close to enough adjustment on a S2 stagea (but they were fine for my R33).
the camber arms were the only way to get enough adjustment for my purposes. btw this is with a 370mm wheel to arch rear height so not low at all.
no bushes with them so they will need attention but cheaper than new tyres.
i picked up a set of similar type for $100 or so and they seem to be going fine over 12mths but no doubt they may get noisy in the future and may need attention.
if you get a bushed version it will be interesting to see how they go. they should prove to be the best solution if the price is right.
