  1. why are you upgrading? has it failed? yes, they have small posts.
  2. simon, i was trying to point out some people make the upper range of the turbo's capability and others make a lower range be it due to skill and care with setup or luck of the draw (with hardware). great job so far by you and your workshop. pm sent.
  3. there are examples of some extreme results both high and low for any given turbo. given a choice i would shoot for lower peak power output and go a smaller framed turbo every time but this is dependent on use hence it is a personal choice. simon-R32 has an amazing result out of the GCG cropped 3071 turbo. i am aware of a workshop has struggled to make power with another example of the same turbo. since GCG are highly reputable it is a real headscratcher why one is shooting the lights out and another hasn't gone close. i would have expected simons to top out closer to 270-280rwkw with cams and the great response with the extra care in the tuning and setup. if 330rwkw is the target i still reckon GT3582
  4. i dunno go the smaller frame turbo and stick the temp probe in a cup of coffee and bob's your uncle. nah, i'm with dale. wringing the neck of GT3076 to get there might be more trouble than it's worth.
  5. dr drift and others have the gear to do it now.
  6. is it just me or does everyone else want to see the numbers??

  8. small thing bernard, the intercooler piping would make more sense like the gibson style (per plazmaman version pictured) there may not be much heating of the charge due to the proximity to the turbo but given the tidy pipepwork it shouldn't be a big stretch to copy something like this and shorten the pipe run.
  9. a pair of hamsters running in a cage linked to the driveshaft might be worth a go.
  10. the stagea is a big lump to get off the line. as stated previously for a S1 stagea exh cams gear dialed correctly plus as much timing as you can get stuffed in down low when the powerfc is sorted (if it isn't already).
  11. extrude hone it. if you are going to spend money you might as well open it up and get a material gain.
  12. it seems that the RB26 may get reversion up one of the runners when they turn to dust. i do not think it has ever happened on an RB25 but there are several reports on RB26's on the forum from reliable sources.
  13. UAS is in Seven Hills just around the corner from you. 9620 9000
  14. the neo injectors are 370cc nismo 480cc are worth looking at if you are upgrading.
  15. good luck tangles i hope it all goes smoothly.
  16. 8OO5TED did and should still be working for shannons. he was very very helpful with quotes for the stagea and the R33 and i was already a customer.
  17. shannons send 8OO5TED a pm he should be able to look after you. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/m979.html
  18. you inspired me today mike, i got under there and pulled them out. one slight issue for me was the (aftermarket) speaker wire has been threaded through one of the plastic parts making it a bit a pain to get the clearance to pull the filters. otherwise a pretty easy job. just out curiosity, does anyone know if it possible to remove the heater cores on S2 stageas without removing the whole dash. it looks fairly accessible through the glove box. i have been putting off replacing my broken heater core in my R33 due the pain of getting to it.
  19. IF you get hit for duties and gst.
  20. exhaust and SAFC and tuning and if money permits swaybars and castor bushes. if any other items are shagged ie brakes, shocks, coils etc. then they would take precedence.
  21. mount them on the kick panel. plenty of room down there. virtually equal distance to your ears. plenty of high end installs use this location. stick them on with bluetack until you find the sweet spot aiming them in various directions.
  22. from memory, i think the bolt pattern of RB26 fans is different.
  23. i went to bathurst and you were nowhere to be seen....
  24. disco is spot on they are definitely small. they seem to work well though for cheap streetable power. certainly not as good a design as a group of enthusiasts like us could make if Garrett or HKS gave us an unlimited budget for testing (hint hint if you are reading).
  25. the HKS version will get you your target for just over $2k. the alternative is a GCG hi-flow which makes very similar power, from my experience the HKS GT-RS comes on a little earlier (which i reckon is worth every dollar) but it is pretty close. if your standard turbo is ok you can sell that and then the HKS item is closer in price to the GCG unit. 250-275rwkw seems likely with good tuning but will probably need cams to get the higher of the two figures. i seriously doubt claims of 300rwkw out of the GT-RS so providing more sheets will help. ps. i agree with disco the HKS 2835 ProS is the one i would buy if money was no object but the price difference is quite large once you buy the full bolt-on kit and if you are looking for good bang for your buck....
