mafia there are a few good threads on the actual flow rates of walbro's when they are pushed on turbo cars.
the rating of 255L doesn't take into consideration fuel rail pressure plus whatever boost levels you are running. additionally they are rated with 13ish volts so if you are using the standard wiring your pump will be seeing 11 or so volts. you are most likely to be getting a fair bit less than 255L.
take the excellent advice you are getting. HKS GT-RS, GCG Hi-flow, Slide Hi-FLow are the picks for a streeter RB25. every other turbo compromises where you will spend 90% of your time ie: between 2700-5500rpm
forget peak hp numbers and buy something that will be quick everywhere that makes great average power and these three turbos fit the bill.
anything larger will be a poor cousin according to your originally stated goals.
EGA4IT has a rare manual with lots of extra fruit (ie. R33 GTR running gear, autos run lighter skyline bits ) including powerfc, new clutch and other neat gear for a tiny bit more money.
have a good look on the forums here before committing to buying one.
uniqueautosports have a brand new GCG hi-flow sitting in their office with the R34 turbine housing. call them and ask for a price. i imagine it will be lineball or cheaper than sending yours away.
try putting all your questions in one post. opening multiple posts and ignoring the answer given is not very smart.
try listening to the answer and accepting it.
if you open another post you are most likely going to be treated like a school student that is on holidays and is trying to irritate everyone.
lastly....
you do not need a D Jetro in any version. (nintendo, pro, sega, atari or any other random version)
scrap the runners theory. that does not appear to be the case.
possibly/probably the exhaust cam lift is 7mm vs 8.7mm (from nissan specs) not confirmed yet...
if you want to get the best out of your audio hardware you need sound deadening.
if you are a DIY person then for approximately $150-200 you will hear a massive difference.
the same additional spend on more expensive components will rarely make an audible difference.
hi dale
i know you have been chasing a "fruity" sound. congratulations.....lol.
a shame you couldn't try 2 degrees retarded as well as this might fill in the mid-range dip (or not). keep us posted if you change the gear setting.
i have been there done that with both R34 SMIC and a Trust SMIC.
stop go = no issues (from my experience). due to a relatively average/poor hiflow (ie non-GCG) meant lots of hot air at higher boost levels and this was a challenge for them. i would have the Trust one back in heart beat with a decent hiflow.
how is it getting heat soak in stop start driving? there is no load on the turbo unless you drive like a madman between lights and it is not located above the engine (ie top mount)??
when you go to a front mount all the same engine pipes will heat up and probably more so on the cross over pipe.
the R34SMIC runs out of cooling ability under load but stop start it should be no issue.
during the race Webber would have been contemplating whether he jumped ships at the wrong time.......then he passed Rosberg's car and he felt a whole lot better.
it was a glorious day yesterday unfortunately i was working but here are some of the details of the day.
The Competition
We had quite a number of audio enthusiasts competing in the various classes and while it might still be early stages yet, this years competition is looking like a close one which may go right down to the wire (no pun intended). This is due to many of the cars being tightly bunched together score wise. Speaking of scores and places; here are the results of today's round:
* CAASQ Amateur Street Class 1st: Antony Hughes (Holden Commodore)
* 2nd: Daniel Hobson (Honda Civic)
* 3rd: Jonathan Hadley (Holden HZ)
* CAASQ Amateur Show Class 1st: Peter Pain (Subaru WRX)
* 2nd: Jack Horrocks (Daihatsu Sirion)
* 3rd: Matthew Judge (Mistubishi Magna)
* CAASQ Pro Street Class 1st: Marty Price (Nissan 200SX)
* 2nd: Paul Young (Mazda 3)
* 3rd: Joel Cheesman (Nissan Pulsar)
* CAASQ Pro Show Class 1st: Edwin Low (Subaru WRX)
* 2nd: Paul Con (Mitsubishi Lancer)
* 3rd: Shane Dunn (Mitsubishi 380)
* CAASQ Judges Choice Award Jonathan Hadley (Holden HZ)
* CAASQ Encouragement Award Nathan Vlotis (Chrysler Valiant)

HKS GT_RS powered stagea has no issues with traction. ok, it can shift torque to front wheels but it puts the power down pretty comfortably to the rear wheels. it makes more power down low and mid-range than a GCG hi-flow(back to back tested in our case), top end is hard to pick since in theory they both have similar sized compressor wheels. having read threads where some claim to have taken them up to 300rwkw (but lets say 260-270 with a cam upgrade) then there is a bit of headroom if you want to push them.
there is a cost premium but the cost premium is narrowed if you sell your standard turbo, so it is worth considering.
consistent with what dale is saying they seem to work well on RB25DET's.
