How is your stock turbo on the way out? They tend to work or toss the turbine wheel down the cat. People are genuinely trying to help you. If you feel that you must upgrade then there is much more to be gained from the turbo than you can ever hope to get out of 256 deg poncams.

It is a stagea, they are fat and thirsty. They fuel economy on the highway with good tuning is acceptable but around town 14-15L/100km is pretty typical with aftermarket turbos. Poor tuning and they a shitty on the highway too. Comparing it to an R33 is a pointless exercise. My R33 makes more power uses less fuel even with hi-flowed injectors.

You are welcome to replace thousands of dollars worth of parts on an assumption but I would be looking for tell tale signs that you have a gasket leak because you almost certainly do have one. Exhaust manifold studs snap routinely on these engines as they get older. These threads pop up every few months and pretty much the same result. If you are bored go to Forced Induction and search "+turbo + whine". Have a good look for signs of carbon build up around the manifold or around the turbo/manifold gasket.

Manifold gasket or turbo/manifold gasket leak is more likely the issue. Apart from that GCG make a true bolt on or Hypergear can sort something out that nearly bolt on.
