  1. The turbo sounds like a bitza and this is almost certainly the source of your issue. Compressor surge is common when you have a relatively large compressor vs small turbine. What more can you tell us about the turbo? Is it is hi-flowed stock turbo? Do you know anyone else with the same turbo? Do they have the same issue?
  2. Bellmouth dump, boost controller (turbotech will do the job for $30) plus Nistune. A decent cat is also worthwhile installing while you are at it.
  3. I bet he will be feeling sentimental this morning when he starts from the back of the grid due to underfueling the car. Maldonado starting from the front of the grid.
  4. It would be hard to rule out Perez for a dark horse. There is a chance of rain and the Sauber was liking the wet last time.
  5. Homoton showing 1/2 second quicker than Pasta. I reckon he will go backward during the race but a great lap.
  6. You dared, you lost. Top strategy from the RBR pits.
  7. I work at Richmond 2 days a week at the end of Windsor St. Silver S2 R33 GTS-t.
  8. Mid range gains ftw.
  9. Does he drive for Scuderia Cucumbera?
  10. Raikkonen/Grosjean will be in the mix, they both seemed very happy with the balance of the car yesterday on both tyres.
  11. Yes if you can source an R34 GT-t PFC and run 3.7v to pin 51 on the ecu to get around traction control you can use a PFC. If you just gut your existing cat you get the same thing for free. More power noise very slightly increased.
  12. Nistune is the easiest, cheapest and will do the job.
  13. Older N1 pumps don't seem to be brittle like the current ones are.
  14. What turbo are you using?
  15. Bellmouth dump and a boost controller then Nistune + tune you will have a nice 190-200rwkw package.
  16. Try clicking this thread. http://www.skylinesa...tune-d-hookups/ IBTL
  17. Firstly, get the bloody thing tuned. Secondly, the ProS made more power than the GT-RS but surprisingly they appear to track almost identically until the ProS out muscles it at the top end on a dyno plot. What it doesn't tell you is that the response to small throttle inputs are deceptively different. The GT-RS has the smaller turbine and you just need to look at the throttle and it is away. The ProS needs comparatively a bigger crack of the throttle to get it to move in traffic. So in traffic the GT-RS is a killer for the fat slug (stagea), on the open road the ProS is better. Both turbos are a good thing just like chocolate and vanilla icecream but they are different. If we are talking an R33 with 400kg less to lug around I imagine the difference would be less noticeable.
  18. A pipe with the same ID should flow the same as another. The jap systems sometimes step down internally hence they sometimes prove to be a restriction at certain power levels. I back to back tested a CES split against a good bellmouth and it was line ball (using a GT-RS) but the bellmouth made a whisker more power everywhere. Possibly dyno variation. The quality of CES gear is very high so you will end up with a quality item, over the life of the car it will be something to set and forget. I am not sure it will perform better than another cheaper straight thru system.
  19. Streettotrack is where I got my price from. Don't rule out a hiflow as they are cheap and make good usable power for the street. The GT3076 is always going to need a few more revs to get going than a smaller turbo like the HG SS1 PU but ultimately if the turbo makes 180-200rwkw by 4000rpm it will be plenty quick. Some will have more top end but suffer with transient throttle response and some will be make a few less hp but be much more lively to drive. Don't get too tied up in dyno plots of turbos in isolation since there is so much more to how they drive once you get behind the wheel.
  20. On the dyno from memory (as I lost all my scanned dyno plots) it reaches peak 22.5psi by 4000rpm ish but with the extra load on the road it is a bit earlier. I will have to pay attention next time on the road where it comes off vaccuum/on boost in 4th.
  21. Bring back refuelling.
  22. STT $1235 GT3076IW plus will need oil/water lines, spacer, dump and an intake solution. It will be over $1500 but will be equally as stealthy/unstealthy as other options mentioned and both of those will require some changes to intake, oil/water, dump. Like I said it should be on the table as an option. If you are short of cash save up for another few weeks until you can afford to buy the right part for your application. If the cheapest option meets your needs then go for it but my experience has taught me that cheaper doesn't always work out better in the long run. Cheap and stealthy is hi-flow territory.
  23. GT3076 should be on the table as well.
  24. Coincidence or is McLaren copying old school design.
  25. McLaren need a step nose if they want to get serious. The Lotii are carrying some very good pace so they are a very good chance.
