Haha there's always one Sweet, yeah the 250s are pretty good for what they are, but they're no match for the line My brother's 250 used to be a road bike, he ran 14.5@92mph, now he has the R6 he's done 11.0@127 I could kill the 250 in the car, but against the R6 I have no chance! On the 929 it's a different story though... :kick:

Annual medical reviews are all well and good, but I think maybe 5-yearly after 60 or something like that needs to be brought in too. License retesting is another argument, but imho the current situation is inadequate. Basically it's the same argument that's been put forward many, many times here and elsewhere - something needs to be done that isn't a knee-jerk "oooh look we're doing something" reaction.

Haha Will, nice one My soon-to-be sister in law's Charade doesn't have a tacho but the poor little thing sounds like it's going to blow up, it's probably doing those sorts of revs too! It'd be nowhere near as quick as the 'cino though...

KR1S, nice! Looks very tidy. The son doesn't look too comfortable though 100m is very unusual for me, I normally struggle to get the wheel off the ground at all, I'm just too much of a wuss, though I think that's the main thing that's kept it rubber side down for so long. It's bloody irritating actually, my brother jumps on my bike (he has an R6) and pops monos and goes through 1st, 2nd, 3rd... bastard. The bike sure as hell doesn't have a problem, I just can't seem to twist the throttle far enough, my brain just won't let me. Damn. My brother's race bike (CBR250) revs to 19k, it sounds like a mosquito, it's such a laugh to ride Even the R6 revs to 15.5k, it screams. Mine only goes to 12k but has about ten times as much mid range torque as the 6, which is just as well, cos I'm not exactly anorexic!!

On another note I had a 10kg ham in the bag on the back of the bike, along with all my other crap, would have been 25kg hanging riiight over the back. Keeping the front wheel on the ground coming out of the tolls was a mission, so I didn't bother trying at the second one Considering I am quite possibly the worst wheelier in the universe, I was quite impressed with my ~100m effort

Living at Cyrus' place during the week, I only head back home to Ippy for weekends. I was riding from Ipswich to Toowoomba and back every day for about 6 weeks... that sucked. It was comfortable enough, it just cost me a fortune in servicing and tyres You bought a bike didn't you? Whadja get?
-
Oh yeah? It's... it's... ok yes it's boring. It won't be later if it rains though, the front tyre on my bike is starting to look like a slick. Eeek. Did you geys get any hail the other day? SE Qlders only, before people from *cough* WA start commenting

You are such a bastard. I wondered what that stench was Erin

One thing I've noticed with the stats is that with very few exceptions they don't differentiate between drivers and passengers. One of the biggest differences between young drivers ( I notice there's very little push to have old drivers, who are also over-represented in the road toll, hand over their licenses. I cringe when I see an old person get into their car after taking half an hour to walk the 50 metres to it. Seeing the difficulty some of these people have getting around with the assistance of a walking frame makes me wonder how effective their car control would be. Going through a few speed cameras is obviously far more dangerous than not being able to see, hear or do anything to avoid an accident even if they do see/hear it... or maybe, just maybe, safety isn't the real focus of the 'road safety' campaigns?

I don't go to the hairdressers any more, I cut my own hair. Zero blade all over isn't too hard to maintain Shopping centres are usually a good perve though...

Yeah dunno what happened to the roof, my guess is someone tried to pry it open with a screwdriver, like you said. Either way I'm up for a complete new seal kit for around the glass, I'm not a happy camper. No paperwork in IT?

They need to leave the Hondas alone too I don't drive like an idiot, but I've noticed I'm now tarred with the same brush as those that do. I don't cop much crap but I've noticed a lot of people (who looked to be the types that sit in front of ACA and TT going "yeah... that's right... damn hoons" every time a car drives across the screen) give me the evil eye. I parked at the shops in Beenleigh the other day and an oldish guy wandered over. Him: That's one of them Nee-san Skylines isn't it? Me: Yep. Him: They're dangerous, heaps of people die in them. I've seen it on the telly. Me: Heaps of people die in Commodores too, are they dangerous? Him: Nah, they're Australian made, they're built to last! Me: Pfft, righto I really didn't see the point in continuing the conversation any further, but I kept a close eye on my car

Cheap... I like it Pfft, holidays, what are they? I'm at work right now (ahem) setting up a sysprep Win2K image. Yay. And my sunroof leaks now too, due to damage caused by (I suspect) a vandal while it was parked...

bank loan, how hard is it to get approved ?
Revhead replied to skylinedrifter's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Loan insurance is not worth the reams of paper it's printed on. Well the policy I was required to take out (as the loan was over $x, don't remember the amount) was completely useless when I needed it anyway. -
I agree with the general sentiments here, the local taxis have taken huge leaps forward in build quality, and are finally 'up there' in performance (not just talking acceleration here either). And some of them look damn horny too. That said, for the money I'll still take an R34 GTR or a modified R33 GTR thanks. Although not that quick in stock form (I've annihilated a few now) ,the XR6Ts do respond VERY well to mods, though you'd expect that from four litres of motor with a GT35-sized (iirc) turbo that runs bugger-all boost (6psi?). TTV8 - yes please! Value for money though, I think I'll stick with the bikes thankyou very much Turbo kits are getting cheap, it's just a pity they don't sell the watermelon-sized testicles required to ride them.

Should I......or shouldnt I?
Revhead replied to [WLDCRD]'s topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
It really depends on what you want it for. Eg do you need back seats? If so don't even THINK about the RX7 The 2+2 3rd Gen RX7s have bum locators, I wouldn't even call them back seats. Basically you squat behind the driver/front passenger and the 'seats' stop you from falling over... As with any car purchase, drive them all (not just around the block) and buy the one you'll still be happy with in a year. -
bank loan, how hard is it to get approved ?

I didn't have a problem at all, but I was working full time. I think that being casual will be your biggest stumbling block, banks want employment history and consistent hours. After that, the fact that you're on a low $/week amount is obviously not going to do you any favours. If you've been paying your mobile and internet bills for a while and are on time, you can use that to prove you're able to budget properly and stick to your financial commitments. If you don't have much of a credit history, maybe save up some cash then get a TV or something on one of those 'interest free' deals, and just pay it out the next day. Don't forget that buying the car is one thing, then you have to keep it on the road. Regular maintenance, tyres, repairs (damage or wear and tear), mods etc will give you a pain in the wallet, then rego and insurance will give you a swift kick in the nuts. On $150/wk you'll obviously need to budget fairly closely, personally I'd be waiting until you're on better money before making a long term, financially draining commitment like this. What I'd be doing is this: put aside anything you would have budgeted for loan repayments until you're in a better financial position. By then, you'll realistically have a few grand sitting there. Get the loan out (an unsecured personal loan if you can), using the dosh as proof of your ability to save money, get a little more than you need to buy just the car but don't go overboard. Once you've got the car, spend what you've saved + what's left of the loan to pay for insurance and a good alarm system, tint the windows (trust me on this, it does more than look good), put aside enough for the next rego payment, then shout yourself a nice exhaust/whatever. That's the way I did mine, and if I were to have my time over I'd probably do it the same way. No doubt someone who has a better idea of what they're doing will give you different advice, but that's what worked for me A word of advice: don't be tempted to get 'a bit extra' for mods - if you happen to have some cash leftover after you've paid what you need to then great, but going into debt solely for modifications is a bad idea. -
How long does it take to learn manual ?
Revhead replied to skylinedrifter's topic in General Automotive Discussion
"Now son, you turn full lock, mash that pedal on the right, wait for the needle to bounce off the red bit, then take your foot off the clutch. THAT is how to grass an oval." Nice avatar btw, mmm Delta... -
It's not just a 9.2, it's a 9.2 at 180mph. Holy shit. That's some serious traction issues.

GTR Badges on GTST
Revhead replied to Constantly_Incognito's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
People can do what they want to their cars, it's their car and I have better things to worry about. Personally though I wouldn't put GTR badges on my car, it's not a GTR. Even if I put the driveline, interior and bodywork from a GTR on my GTS, it's still not a GTR, one look at the biuild plate will tell you that. I saw an Excel with Turbo stickers, turbo exhaust, shopping list up the side, guages etc, needless to say it wasn't turbo and had a very difficult time keeping up. I also saw an Excel with "WR" in front of the badge, making it a "WRExcel", I thought that was actually quite funny And a Lancer had one of those 'piss on Honda' stickers on the window. I pointed to the Honda badge on the tank of my bike and laughed at him -
Haha Santa's a derro Looks like it was a nice night. I didn't go cos I didn't want to intrude on a family-type outing, but after seeing that I could've scored with Santa, I'm a bit upset...

Pic up a stock coil pack, and a tin of sky blue paint. Apply paint to coilpack. You now hold something that looks nearly identical to a Splitfire coil
