  1. I went there the other day. I drove in, left my car, keys, wallet and first-born with their completely trustworthy staff (they even have a childcare area!!!!!!111oneone). Not only did I get 1000rwkw, a magazine had already been around to do a story on my car because they knew it would be so sweet after this shop had finished with it. And, AND... to top it all off, THEY gave ME money because they value their customers so much. And my new intercooler install is great, it's all shiny, like mirror. Ooh er. Edit the business name out of all of his posts. No point in punishing the tool if his ad is still there PS I'm in a sarcastic mood
  2. I know a couple of people with what you're after, but afaik none of them are looking to sell atm. Sorry
  3. Very nice work! My car is only in the collage (no video) due to me being at the back of the pack all day, but I didn't do anything exciting so I don't really care Adrian, it's The Reason by Hooberstank
  4. A different take on advertising... the bloke obviously has a sense of humour PS I formally deny any affiliation ...
  5. Did it with mine:
  6. Oh, nearly forgot... I didn't get many pictures as I'm just too damn slack, but the ones I have are here (warning - heavily biased ): Pics Edit: Changed pic location
  7. Awesome day I was at the back of the pack for the whole day, and it was a sight to behold, looking ahead and seeing 80-odd Skylines. There were that many that the odd Camry/4wd/bike didn't spoil the view. Give the bikes a break though guys, two of them were suicidal maniacs, the rest were OK... unless there something happened further up the pack?
  8. You mean it ISN'T real? The funny/sad/scary thing is that there's actually a fair bit of effort put into that... nowhere near enough, but lots nevertheless...
  9. It's been done a number of times. A mate was looking at doing this to his E36 320i, but he sold it instead. There doesn't seem to be much info on the net, but from what I understand the motor itself pretty much just drops in there. Obviously you need to fabricate engine mounts and may have problems with sump vs crossmember, but it will fit. I believe you have to go for thermos as there's not quite enough space for the stock engine fan, and may have to get a bit creative with your intercooler piping. Wire up an ECU to run the motor, and let the factory BMW computer in the car run anything that the engine computer can't (dash, climate control, whatever, just guessing here). I'm lead to believe it's a reasonably simple swap. German Car Club of Victoria - flick through that thread for some discussion on your options. Check out the photo a couple of posts down! :drooling:
  10. That's OK, we just whinged about how slack you were
  11. Wow, I bet the road toll will drop to zero with these in place. Congratulations to the govt on a well thought-out, non revenue-motivated response to people who can't drive killing themselves
  12. Yeah that'd be fun, they already do twin Hayabusa motors into something similar - it's called the Tiger Z100WR. It's 4WD too, and does 0-100 in under 3 sec, and all the hot-up bits for Busas will bolt on... including the turbo kits I still reckon for 3 series beemer if you want something reasonably modern that'll handle nicely and allow you to retain aircon etc. It's been done plenty of times, and the results are, from what I hear, not too shabby.
  13. Yes they do
  14. Done
  15. Thanks to those that turned up, wasn't a bad little outing at all. Spose I'm going to have to modify my avatar text now
  16. Not sure exactly, but I've been told around the $500 mark. As I said though, it can't really be tuned properly until the coil issue has been fixed. I'm not sure if it's coils or ignitor box, I'm currently hunting down a spare ignitor to test the theory. You can get 2nd hand stock coils for a few hundred, or a set of Splitfires to suit a series 1 RB25DET for around the $800 mark iirc. If it's the ignitor, I'm not sure what they're worth but they're a lot cheaper than a set of coils. Not trying to put you off (try finding a second hand car that doesn't have a problem of some kind), just being honest
  17. Motor is internally stock, and unopened... a compression test showed 160-165psi on all six cylinders, so the motor appears to be in very good health. The PFC is installed but currently untuned, as the coils playing up make it very hard to strap it onto a dyno for tuning. If you mean you'd like to buy the car with the PowerFC/HC then yes we can talk prices. If you mean you'd like the PFC and hand controller separately, that's only an option if the car sells with the stock ECU, meaning I have a PowerFC laying around.
  18. 3 series BMW
  19. Yes, it's still for sale. It has a current safety certificate as I only just re-registered the car.
  20. As I understand it, the ECU works out RPM based on the crank angle sensor, ie it calculates the CAS's speed. Then the ECU send signals to the tacho and the tacho just shows what's happening. I'm no electronics genius so I have NFI what's actually wrong here, but losing the tacho feed is not uncommon on R33s. I lost mine, but it stayed on zero, it didn't move no matter what. I just changed the ECU and off it went again. Maybe scab someone else's ECU for a test?
  21. I'm sick of the goodie two shoes people that crap on about 'if you speed, accept the consequences'. The fact is that the vast majority of people who are caught speeding are only just over the limit, and are arguably no more dangerous than someone who is going at or below the limit. People are being punished for the sake of it, and the motivation is not safety, it's cash. It's like being booked for touching the centre line as you make a turn onto an empty street for breaking a double white line - technically you did break the law, but the enforcement is completely inappropriate. Speed limits were brought in originally to stop people doing ridiculous speeds in inappropriate places; now they're a hard-and-fast number that, if broken, means instant death and huge penalties. They've become an easily quantifiable cash cow for governments, and motorists in general are an easy target. If I'm booked at 200km/h in a 60 zone, then I'd accept the consequences of my actions. If I'm booked for 110 in a deserted four-lane 100 zone, I'm going to whinge, because the law is being deliberately interpreted to maximise fiancial gain.
  22. Update: six months rego just paid
  23. I drove an AU Falcon with 4km on it. The diff was blown. And no, we hadn't managed to take that one out to do skids yet
  24. A recent compression test (I figured I might as well do it last time I checked the plugs) showed 165psi across the board. A good indication of the motor's condition, and very consistent too. Also I got a voice mail message with a mobile number on it, that cut out as the caller was saying the number. If you've left a message and I didn't get back, try again, or SMS me. If I don't answer, it's more than likely that I'm either on the bike or with a client. This is a bargain! I've organised to be home to meet people and neither have turned up...
  25. You'd be surprised how many brand new cars aren't 'perfect' either People just tend not to look as hard because the assume it'll be that way. Look at the number of factory recalls (and common problems) over the years.
