Do you do RB30DET setups if we supply the block/crank/rods/head?
-
And not everyone who rides a bike up there rides like a tool either. You should try being on a bike, minding your own business, when a car or four comes around a corner in your lane... has happened to me a couple of times. Please think before making stupid comments like that.

Range is good fun, but nowhere near long enough. Journey to Toowoomba would be OK (for those that don't know, you'd be surprised just how big 'woomba really is) but I'm not too sure what we'd do when we got there... Toowoomba isn't the sticks. Places like Esk, or if you head out a bit, Allora, Taroom, Goondiwindi etc, now THEY'RE out in the sticks

Argh I'm sooo pissed off I couldn't make it... a mate ended up getting taken to hospital in an ambo after getting into a fight at my brother's house. Sort of put my plans on hold... Anyway looks like it was an awesome cruise, even better to hear that, on the whole, everyone was pretty well behaved too. Good work Erin/Adrian!

Argh god damn, nothing happens all week then I get called to do some work...
-
I have a couple of people interested skyhi, will let you know if they fall through.
-
I'm keen, and Toowoong is about as convenient for me as a Brisbane suburb can get (I'm in Ipswich)

Yeah damn insurance companies... I had a tail-ender recently (ie someone ran into the back of me) and the insurance company didn't want to pay for a replacement rear bar and reinforcement, they wanted them both 'repaired'... might have saved them $20 on a $1500 job. I hate insurance companies. Anyway, back on topic, this has to be one of the best threads I've seen in a long time, and it's good to see some people still take pride in their work. Cheers!

Damn... looks like I have to cancel my order for an SAU g-string then

Yep - give them a copy of this. -
Ooh, how mysterious

I'd be taking it to an auto electrician to have them check the wiring loom near the ECU out, rather than have you mechanic do it. I have no idea how good/bad/otherwise your mechanic is, but for electrical problems, particularly if they aren't familiar with the car, I would always take it to a leccy. -
Nice car, almost identical to mine when I first got it except for the colour. Planning on doing any mods?
-
I have one, but the exhaust wheel has broken away from the shaft. If you're after something to rebuild (the bearings and intake wheel are still in good condition) then feel free to have it. If you want one to bolt on, and would actually like it to make some boost, look elsewhere

Disconnect the battery, and either leave it overnight, or stand on the brakes for (to be safe) 30 sec or so. Reconnect the battery, and voila, your ECU has forgotten all its 'tweaks' that applied when the SAFC was connected. -

1.1mm gaps with the stock coils aren't real boost-friendly, but shouldn't be causing problems at 2500rpm. A stuffed turbo shouldn't cause the problems you describe either. Things I can think of: 1) Bad tuning (possibly due to parts being taken off), which is unlikely unless you have different cams or something because without the SAFC it'd just be running the stock maps 2) You've missed some of the pipework or a hose has popped off somewhere 3) Some of the wires going to the ECU are either disconnected, or are shorting out. Quite likely as they would not have been particularly careful when removing the SAFC and, as you say, your loom is 'hanging on the ground' When you say that it 'slatters at 2000-2500 revs', do you mean it won't go past there, or it's a mess from there on, or that there's a bad spot about then which clears up for the rest of the rpm range? -
You know I'm in

Hehe just having a go at you lmao @ air biscuit and wanking spanners Wtf were you doing reading Cleo??

Yeah, well... err... damn! Nah that was a good effort. Not having to worry about wheelspin must be a real bonus PS Air Biscuit... wtf?

OK this is getting out of hand. I'll make it simple - READ THIS CAREFULLY. 1) We're ONLY excluding non-Skylines from the occasional Skyline-only event. 2) We don't think we're better than anyone else. 3) We don't think that Skylines are the best car in the world and that we are somehow better than anyone else for owning or driving one. 4) We're a Skyline club. What's wrong with having a few Skyline-only events?? 5) What's the point in having a Skyline club if we don't focus on Skylines?? 6) You don't need to own a Skyline to join the club. I honestly don't see where the problem is. It's not like we're saying that if you drive a GTiR Pulsar or something that you're not allowed to socialise with SAU members. All we're saying is that, for specific, selected events, you have to be in a Skyline to take part. Is that so unreasonable? Geez people, get off your high horses and stop your whinging. NismoGirl: You know we wouldn't snob you because you're not in a Skyline. You've been around for plenty long enough that most of us already know you anyway. If you're attending a Skyline-only event though, you should bring the Skyline. Master_d: Of course you're welcome On a Skyline-only event (and I imagine that these would easily be outnumbered by the less restrictive events) though, it's not a Skyline, regardless of driveline.
-
Noone is saying that we think we're better than anyone else because we own Skylines... actually, I dunno why anyone would think that they're a better person just because of the car they drive. That's just stupid.I think some of the non-Skyline drivers who are getting stroppy in here a reading this as though we're saying that they can't come on ANY cruises or other events. This is not the case! Although I feel that some events should be restricted to Skylines, we would still allow other vehicles to attend 'unrestricted' events. Re not having the budget to buy a Skyline - you can pick up an Aus-spec R31 Skyline for a few grand, and stock R32s are similar money to a VP/VR Commodore. Nismo Boy - if you turn up at an event that has been specified as a Skylines-only event, then yes, you've just wasted your fuel. A Porsche is not a Skyline. If you turn up at a meet that hasn't been made a Skylines-only thing, you would more than likely be welcomed into the group. We are a Skyline club. Our main focus is Skylines. Why is this such a difficult concept?
-
This isn't the be-all of cruise rules - all we're doing is discussing our own ideas on how we think things should be run. Your two comments: "theyare good guys and might feel a little cut getting turned away" and "how about we offer some of these boys a ride for the cruises, man i saw heaps of lines with single drivers" are a little contradictory. We are not trying to turn people away (unless they've proven they're dickheads), but I think some events should be restricted to Skylines. I've said all along that those without Skylines are more than welcome to scab a ride on one of these events.
-
My comment was taken out of context - I said: I never said we shouldn't allow non-Skylines, I said we should make SOME EVENTS Skylines only. I agree that some variety is good (I took my bike on one cruise a few months ago), and it is fun seeing how your 'line compares against other cars, but as I've said a few times already, what's the point in having a Skyline club when you don't need to be sitting in a Skyline to take part in some things?? The flip side of that is that I think we SHOULD have some events where a variety of cars are allowed to participate. That means people like Squizz and PhatMirage would be able to bring their own cars along to these events, but would have to score a ride in (or buy ) a Skyline to join in with the Skyline-only stuff. Does this sound reasonable to anyone else?? Oh yeah, I don't mind telling Gary to piss off, I tell him that all the time anyway But seriously, if it's a Skylines only cruise, and Gary doesn't have a Skyline at the time, he knows he's more than welcome to go for a run in mine. I dare say Squizz knows a few people with 'lines too. If it's NOT a Skylines-only cruise, they're more than welcome to bring their own cars.
-
Exactly - I think the best solution lies in not trying to make blanket rules to suit every situation (speed limits anyone?), as a few people, myself included, have mentioned a few times previously. Some cruises will be Skylines only - if it ain't a 'line, it ain't coming. Other cruises would certainly be more lenient. I suppose how we treat a particular cruise would depend on whether it's purely a social thing or whether there is a bit of showcasing the club happening too. What's the point in having a Skyline club if you don't need a Skyline for some events? But yer, I'm stuffed, going to sleep now Behave kids
-
Even the name of the club makes it blatantly obvious we are a model-specific community. FFS if we organise an event as part of Skylines Australia, is it that unreasonable to expect a large majority of participants to be driving Skylines? If someone tried to bring a Falcon to an organised meeting of a Commodore club, or an Excel to a Street Machine meetup, they would more than likely be told to go their own way (perhaps not in those words). I think the fact that we, as a community, are even discussing this shows the open-mindedness of the group as a whole.
