Rather than hit the quote limit two or three times I'll cut it down a bit This IS a whore thread by every definition except name. Trying to disguise it as anything else is like sticking a GTR badge on your GTS. Talking about random stuff at a meet doesn't suddenly make said random stuff an extension of the meet. I'm all for a bit of a chat, we're not going to vet every single post and delete anything that goes slightly off-topic - but this thread goes waaaaaay beyond that. It's whoretown based very loosely around some events. Although nobody is actively excluded from this thread, passive exclusion can easily stop people from joining in, which isn't good for the section as a whole. And just because you might click a seemingly irrelevant thread "just in case", doesn't mean others will. Their fault? Perhaps, but easily avoidable too. A couple of quotes just for the hell of it! (Bolded bit) bingo, and that's exactly what it should be. The bulk of the random chit-chat should be in whoretown as despite your protests to the contrary, it is of no relevance to the event. It won't sink to the bottom and die if people keep it alive with fresh event info. A healthy event should mean a healthy thread. If it dies it'll be because you let it. If it fills excessively with whoring it'll be cleaned and/or locked. Because there's already a thread that serves the purpose that this one currently does, that is for the benefit of the community as a whole, and doesn't exclude anyone outside of the "inner west". I'm not going over the argument about people not being actively excluded but the fact remains that at first glance this thread is irrelevant to anyone outside of that area. You've met some new people through this thread - you might meet even more without the illusion of geographic limitation. Long story short, I'm still not hearing any valid reasons that the random chat shouldn't move to whoretown instead...

Woot lunch time!! Hope it's not too hot outside, I get spoiled in the aircon at work haha.

No dramas mate, let us know how you go

Spotted 50-FLI at the end of the ICB this morning, we were in the daily

Rehashing is a bit of a tricky one, it'll either work or it'll be atrocious... I'd hate to see them jump the shark

Haha, I love Futurama Apparently they're bringing out a new series (though I've been hearing that for a while now and cbf looking it up, so who knows) but last I heard it was going to have pretty much a completely different cast doing the voices...

Hence my comment

Heh the multi-quoting is starting to get fairly decent Not when people simply aren't posting in it. A night club is still a night club if there are 2 or 200 people there... but which is better? Which would you maybe check out briefly, then leave? Why should people have to check threads from other areas and wade through pages of whoring to see if there's anything happening that they might have otherwise travelled to the area for? The thread itself and the regular meet isn't what I'm getting at, that in itself is fine (but if that's the case it technically should go into the events section, just to open another can of worms lol), it's the whoring. As I've said I don't have a problem with post whoring, I used to be in whoretown myself a fair bit because that's the appropriate place for it.There used to be some HUGE bitchfights in whoretown, but that was part of its appeal Anyway as you pretty much said yourself earlier, it would be what you make it. It's *not* an extension of the meet. It's whoring by people who attend the meet, but the posts are otherwise unrelated to the meet itself. In the last handful of posts we've had bourbon, broken phones, cricket, internet censorship, cost of cars overseas (my bad ) and actually nothing whatsoever to do with the original meets other than mentioning it as justification for the thread's existence. I can assure you that it had been alive and well for quite some time, and the current whoretown is certainly not the first one (the earlier ones were archived off due to performance issues with large threads on older versions of IPB).There were a few dramas in the Qld section a while ago which killed the activity, it hasn't fully recovered from that. That is why there is a lack of activity here, and that is what I'm hoping we can reverse... to some extent at least. I know people aren't being actively excluded, but if you're from somewhere that's not on the west side it's entirely conceivable that you might look at the title and think "hmm that'll be irrelevant to me", not open it, and miss out on what's in here. That's nothing to do with someone being a sook, it's just the way it is, why check something out that's completely irrelevant? On the flipside, I dare say a lot of the people who are here and checked it out because of its size, did so because they were looking for a chat/whore thread... Read your descriptions of it again... does this sound more like a casual chat thread, or a thread discussing a specific meet? The thread doesn't need to go and the title doesn't need to change. If either were the case I would have done it ages ago.I have no problem with the thread existing per se, I'm just suggesting that the whoring (and that's what it is, as already mentioned) go into whoretown. It's a more appropriate place for it, the activity in whoretown would likely be more beneficial than it is in here, and if anyone is interested in actually coming to the regular meets they don't have to wade through pages of people talking about phones and cricket to find the relevant info, who is going etc, which sounds very much like the reason you gave for whoretown being A Bad Thing. Give it a go, it's not that bad

It used to be, lol But now everyone posts in a "new" whore thread

All fair points (well, maybe except for the last one but I'll get to that in a sec), though what you've described is really what whoretown is meant to be as well. A bit of banter and a chat, some helpful, some taking friendly shots at each other, a bit of trash talk, organising to go around and swap out another blown ceramic turbo at Joe Bloggs' place, whatever. People had their own little groups but also interacted with the larger Qld community too.If something happens on the north side, do they then (theoretically) need to come into the inner west, southside, bayside and CBD threads to let them all know the story? It's not the same as the state separation due to the distances involved. Separate event threads are completely different, they're referring to individual events so merging them together would be pointless. The focus on them is on the event, not on the location of the people. People who have been around (like Joshwa ) would remember when whoretown was a lot like this thread is, just covering a much wider geographical area. And there's no reason it can't be like that again. The meaningless count-increasing posts aren't normally welcome in whoretown but because it's been so dead we've let it slide in the hopes that it might encourage some life back into the thread. I'll hazard a guess and say that one of the reasons it's so dead in whoretown is because this thread has taken most of its traffic lol. I'm not saying that this thread is pointless, because it's clearly not. There is a lot of value in the community building that this kind of thing can help along. All I'm saying is that it makes sense to build that community in the thread that was designed for that purpose and doesn't, by its title, exclude most of the state.

Heh ouch, $AU 58kAh well at least there's somewhere that's getting screwed over harder than we are! There's some kind of disincentive for buying cars there I'm guessing? Apart from the well-worn old argument of "but it's for people in my area"... why not? You'd pretty much have whoretown to yourselves, and it's not like this thread is really restricted to "inner west" any more so that point is moot anyway. You'd still be post whoring a random thread on a public forum Mine hasn't had any problems

Yeah I've considered BC, parts of Europe, Japan, the US etc. I would consider NZ but a few rellies are from there and they are massive knobends so it's kind of soured me... completely irrational I know but I can't help it haha. The main thing stopping me for a lot of places is the language barrier, I've seriously considered a move to Japan, I've been there before (albeit briefly) and loved it, and I love the people and the culture (and their cars hehe). Not sure about the 'cheap' bit when it comes to housing and I'm not fluent any more so finding a job that doesn't pay a pittance would be difficult. Parts of Europe would be out for similar reasons. That said I work for a multinational so could possibly get transferred (head office is here in Aus) which might open some options up a little. It's being seriously considered and we can afford to do it but it's a big leap of faith, and takes us away from our family and friends... sigh, what to do. Hahaha nice Ps updated sig, have been meaning to put it there for a while lol.

Woohoo, not far to go now mate Does it sound like it's rev limiting at 2.5-3k, or will it just not rev past there? Have you checked for intake leaks? You mention rewiring, did you have to rewire the AFM as well (or did you use a Ford O2 sensor and have to modify the wiring for that)? Are you sure the wiring is correct, the plug is OK, and the wiring hasn't pulled out of the plug slightly? If you are able to get hold of someone who has Consult and a diags cable they'll be able to tell you what the sensors (including the AFM) are reading. I don't know enough about electronics to tell you what resistance the different terminals should be (though I'd think if they're all infinity you'll have a problem ) but 'normal' output voltages are between 0V (no airflow) to 5V (max airflow, ~220rwkw), so at idle I'd imagine it'd be reading around 0.2 - 0.3V?? You should be able to check that with the multimeter too if you suspect the AFM. I live on the northside too and have an S2 R33, I'm happy to pop around with the car or even just the AFM, but I often work pretty long hours so getting to you might be an issue. If you don't have any luck getting it sorted and can't get someone nearby, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Knew I'd seen some info somewhere: So it looks like it will be coming back as soon as PayPal sort out whatever it is that's buggered.

Nah not me mate, I don't have access to the bank accounts or anything, the guys down south take care of all that stuff. The donation option used to be in the My Controls section (under Subscriptions) but as I understand it Christian's turned off donations for the time being. It might come back with the IPB 3 upgrade - if I hear anything one way or another I'll let you guys know

The worst bit is that they believe they're doing the right thing, so convincing them otherwise is likely to be virtually impossible. A bit like trying to convince the pope that religion is wrong lol. The thing that shits me most though is how, despite all the opposition and downvotes and whatnot, they've just decided to do it anyway. People the ilk of the "think of the children" brigade and Today Tonight watchers will probably applaud it, but then they're the types that advocate kneejerk idiocy so why should this be any different. And yes, I won't be surprised to see it gradually morph into a system similar to the one in China, where apparently they censor anything unfavourable to the govt. Try being in China and looking up anything on Tianenmen (sp?) Square. They just deny it ever happened and censor any reference to it. How they ever hope to learn from the past by denying its existence is beyond me!

Yeah read about that earlier, deceitful pricks. The thing they don't understand (or care about) is that it's not about people wanting to look at kiddie porn or bomb instructions or whatever... it's about some pen-pusher pretending to be our mums, deciding what we can and can't see. IMHO... If you're under 18, it's your parents' responsibility If you're over 18, you're an adult and can make your own choices If you *do* look up something illegal, then you should be punished accordingly Farken left wing evangelists, get back in your Prius, hug a tree, pat yourselves on the back and GFTO of our internets!
