  1. Yep ok well if you've tried PMs, phone calls, emails etc then, if you haven't done so already, it might be worth involving the police. If nothing else, having the police contact them is sometimes enough to prompt people to do the right thing. You should have enough info to identify him, prove that you gave him money for goods, and proof that you have attempted to contact him since, and obviously the lack of goods as promised. The guys here that look after traders can usually provide anything we have on him too, if it's requested by police. Also, if he does turn out to be a dodgy trader, he'll be added to our Bad Traders List. Again, best of luck mate, dodgy traders are a bit of a pet hate of mine, I hope this doesn't turn out to be another case of it.
  2. According to his profile he last logged on late yesterday afternoon/early yesterday evening, so he is still active. It's possible you could get him by PM - giving him the benefit of the doubt, maybe he doesn't read the Qld general section so a PM might help. If you've had no luck with phone calls though your chances are probably slim. Best of luck getting it sorted mate.
  3. Yes mate we should, I haven't seen James in a while either so that might be a good excuse for a catch up Oh and we're doing a little bit of painting around the house, the missus doesn't like the colour in the kitchen (it's a pale blueish colour) lol
  4. Lol I think he meant that was the question he asked himself Anyway if you're going to fork out for a car, IMHO it's worth making sure you're doing it properly. Don't come in at the bottom end of the market because the odds that you'll get a shitter will be far greater, and as other have already said it'll probably end up costing you more in the long run. If you do your homework and are prepared to spend a bit more on the 'right' one, you're giving yourself a much better chance of ending up with an good, honest car. There's no guarantee of course, as mentioned these are cars that would have likely had 20 years worth of abuse, but if you can find a decent one they're well worth the effort. And they respond extremely well to modification, 300awkw is pretty easy on an engine in good nick. If you're used to the Liberty you might find that the GTR will bite you when pushing hard. They handle very differently!
  5. Any ideas what you're after mate? Are you looking for something completely different and if so, are you happy to accept entry-level pay in a new industry? Or are you hoping to get a job in something you have some experience in? What kind of work? Hands-on/trade, office, management, public service, etc? And most importantly, can you get cheap paint?
  6. I'm not one to boast But I cook a mean roast And I'm not a bad host But this line doesn't rhyme with any of the ones before it
  7. Bloody hell the S13 sounds like a weapon. 33 should be fun with that driveline
  8. Indeed they do! I've spent some time driving in Sydney and Melbourne, and although their traffic is heavier it flows much better than in Brisbane. Contrary to the earlier post, traffic here is hideous, especially when you consider that Brisbane has a much smaller population. As far as road surfaces go, ours aren't great but they are improving, slowly! Except for Toowong, it's still atrocious Other than the obligatory whinge about traffic I'm pretty fond of Brisbane. I like the "big country town" feel (though unfortunately town planners saw it that way for a while there too), and with the exception of a few stiflingly humid days we have a great climate. We're close to a lot of nice beaches, close to some nice inland mountains, and if you know where to look there are some nice cruising roads. We have some decent racetracks, though you'll need to travel a bit. There's plenty to do unless you're still in the "zomg must party for days" mindset. In response to a post above, if you're worried about your kids' education then, as mentioned, simply be selective about the school you send them to. You always have a choice, even if it means a bus/train ride or a longer drive. In a perfect world all schools would be excellent, but they're not, regardless of state. Sydney newspapers are sold here because it's a hub for commercial and financial activity, not for a lack of anything newsworthy on Brisbane's part. I've seen Brisbane newspapers sold in Sydney newsagents too, so what? But yes, I really like Brisbane. It has its problems but for me, they are far outweighed by the positives.
