Noel, I did some digging on your boost controller... Profec isn't it? Anyway... Large volume-style knob: your base boost pressure, or your "low" boost level if you prefer. Ratio: your overtaking or "high" boost setting, as a ratio of the above. Obviously your high boost can't be lower than your low boost setting Time: the amount of time you want your high boost setting to run for. Offset: adjusts the boost reading on the Profec, so you can effectively calibrate it to match your other boost controller if required. Say you're running 15 psi and the Profec says you're running 17psi, you can use the offset dial to adjust the display.

I made a quick change to your account which I'm hoping will fix the issue, IPB had a bit of a dummy spit when I hit save but the setting seems to have been stored ok. I double checked and there doesn't appear to be a problem with your account so it might have just been a once-off error. I've sent you a PM too, so assuming you're subscribed to this thread, you should get two notifications -

Aah hang on, I think I know what this might be. At the top right of your screen you have a drop-down box called "Options". Click it and you should see three options for Display Mode. Try each of these and see which one gives you back the display you're used to, I imagine 'standard' (the middle option in my dropdown) would be the one. -
... and another from me

Spotted a silver V35 yesterday heading into West End, didn't get plates as I was stuck in traffic in the Cressida... watching enviously

Haha yeahThere's a website somewhere (can't remember it off the top of my head) where they scam them back, they have friends who live over there and they get them to go to the airport and hold up signs with their name on it, after telling them that their name is "Imas Cammer" or something lol They even got money out of them from memory, which is pretty good, but a few bucks would be nothing when they're raking in millions upon millions Still, you'd have to be pretty gullible to fall for it, especially these days when they're so well known...

Damn dude, that's farked You don't have security cameras over the carpark? Check the cars in the carpark during the week and see if any of your colleagues have new scratches or silver paint... hope the damage isn't too bad anyway

Putting my new server together Apart from that, trying not to fall asleep

I agree with what you're saying, but from what I've gathered, the original poster has no intentions of leaving it as a 250-odd hp engine. It'll be laggy as fark without a smaller housing, it may or may not blow up, but from what he's said he's accepted those things.I wouldn't do it this way personally, for a lot of the reasons Noel has already mentioned. That said, I'd still buy the turbo setup, but I'd also buy another RB25 and build that one. When it's ready, drop it in and budget for a sudden decrease in the life of your rear tyres

Which panel? Did you cut the reinforcement behind the front bar, or are you talking about a small hole in the engine bay near the fuse box on the driver's side? Something else? If it's the reo, you're in trouble. If it's the hole in the engine bay, and you haven't cut through a chassis rail or anything (lol) it's the first I've heard of that being a defect, sounds like he was just a prick who couldn't do you for anything else. I'd be interested to know if this is genuinely defectable. Re the number plate, it has to be flat (ie not bent) and visible from directly in front of the car, it doesn't have to be dead centre. If yours is all of these things, he probably didn't book you for it because it's legal but said it to try to scare you.

Excellent news I'm not a huge fan of lawyers either, it's a case of the majority ruining it for the dew decent ones IMHO. I'd have to go along with Steph's comment re gut feeling and regrets too.

Not willing to get it from a wreckers as there's no guarantees that it's any better than the one I have, and in this case I'm adamant that I only want to do it once (I've ridden it once in around two years ). I'll give Triple M a call and see what they say, they might have trouble matching the rewound item though

Thread cleaned... come on guys, I dunno how many times we have to say it - no shit-canning workshops! If you must share your bad experience with a workshop, please keep it to PM.
-
Thanks for the reply Dan, and thanks to those who have PM'd. In response to your query Dan, I'm not sure what brand the stator is as I'm not with the bike atm, I'll check next time I'm at the workshop. And yes, $30 discount is crap. Most of the more local guys I managed to get a hold of said that they weren't able to rewind my stator for technical reasons, to do with the type of wire or that part of the ignition is wired into the internal loom or something (I didn't really catch it), but referred me to various people. From all the ringing around it appears that there are only half a dozen or so people in the country that actually CAN do the work, and one in particular has come highly recommended and after having a chat to them, they'll be getting the work. If I'm happy with their work (and I'm confident I will be) I'll post their details later
-
Gavin Wood (Auto Tech) seems to have a pretty good name, he's not cheap but from what I hear the work is top notch, can't verify myself though as I haven't been there. He's in Labrador IIRC. Or you could do it yourself

Hi guys My bike is in need of a new stator (part of the charging system, similar to an alternator), the old one has burned out. I know it's not a Skyline, but I also know plenty of people on here ride bikes and/or have contacts with workshops and the like The bike is a 2001 Honda CBR929RR. I'm getting pretty frustrated, most of the shops I've spoken to refuse point-blank to come down on price, RRP is $640 apparently and even the shop I bought the bike from will only go to $610 through our trade account I've also investigated having the old one re-wound, but I'd prefer not to be forced to send the unit to Victoria and wait 2 weeks + for it. So.... what I'm wondering is, does anyone have any ideas or contacts you'd be happy for me to use, to either get hold of a new stator for a more reasonable price, or for someone fairly local to Brisbane who can re-wind it? Cheers Marc

Carbon Silver = K51 according to this page Have a look at "L40 / Interlagos Fire" - looks nice in the pics anyway?? Depends on if it's your thing though. More pics of it here

No probs, good to see another new face on SAU You don't mention springs/shocks or brake pads, if they're still factory (or factory spec) then replace them with something suitable for your purposes, eg street, drift, drag, whatever. The gear you should get really depends on what you're planning on doing with it. You also haven't mentioned an aftermarket exhaust, but I'll assume you have one - if it's only cat-back, change the dump and cat too for a worthwhile increase. If you are still running stock boost, bump it up a few pounds to 10psi or so - as with anything, taking it beyond factory specs can cause early failure but 10psi is pretty safe, 12psi is about the commonly accepted 'safe limit', and 14psi is where people seem to start losing the exhaust wheels from their stock turbos. I've seen people run 14+ psi for years without a problem, and other who have blown a turbo at less... it really depends on luck, how well it's looked after, how you drive it, the condition of the turbo and how good the tune is. Next thing I'd do is engine computer (ECU). Once you've done that you can start fiddling with injectors/fuel pump, bigger air-flow meter (AFM), then a hi-flow turbo, or straight to internals and a big turbo. The sky (and the size of your bank balance) is really the limit.
