  1. It's a bit crap that you can be accused of doing 30+ km/h over the limit, but because you admit you were doing 20 over that you can't really fight the 30+ one... they're two different offences, if you're not guilty of the one you've been charged for, and you weren't charged for the other, surely there's no case?
  2. Not a bad effort at all
  3. Nice pics guys! Any *cough* toe *cough* shots?
  4. No probs at all mate Wish we could have done more!
  5. I got booked for 75 in a 60 zone a few months ago. The fine was an absolute load of crap, there is no way I in hell I was doing 75 - I've been driving Skylines for 6 years and know what they feel like at a given speed, AND I had a witness in the car (the car's owner) who can also verify that there was no chance I was doing the quoted speed. I wrote a polite, factual letter to the head of the issuing officer's station, also noting that the officer was rude, abrupt and basically wanted to get me out of there quickly so he could fine someone else, and all I got back was a load of drivel about how he had checked the tape and found the officer had done nothing wrong, the device was calibrated and operated correctly, and that the (now overdue) fine would stand. Basically I was told that this rude, arrogant, arsehole of a cop was completely in the right, that I had committed a crime that I would swear on my mother's grave I was not guilty of, and that I was now out of pocket $150 and down 3 points... oh, and the $45 late fee for going to SPERS. Yay for looking after their own, and their main source of revenue. My last encounter with a traffic cop had renewed some of my faith in the police force (he was a champion, nice guy - I still got the fine but I didn't feel like I'd just been reamed)... and then this dealing pretty much blew it away again. They decided I was guilty, and that was that. Ok ok, I'm getting to the point... basically they've fine-tuned the laws surrounding traffic infringements to the point where they can fine you for whatever they feel like and force you to accept it, regardless of whether you were actually doing anything wrong. If you can find a way out of it, great... if not, the cops have been unfairly raping people for years, you're neither the first nor the last. Yes it sucks but until we get a govt who thinks beyond the next election, this is the kind of crap we'll be putting up with.
  6. Disgusting? Yes. Illegal? No.
  7. SAU Qld used to be CAMS affiliated, but given the cost of membership and the limited benefits members were actually getting from it, it was not renewed.
  8. Happy birthday dude
  9. I'm a Queenslandian... er, Aussie
  10. Holy fark dude, that really and truly sucks Hope that last guy gets raped by the legal system, even more so for trying to run away from the consequences of his actions than for driving in a state where he couldn't walk or talk properly Out of interest, how does this work with the two drivers? If it's hit again before it's repaired by the first person, or even quoted on, who pays and how do they work out how much each is responsible for?
  11. No, it's a bit like leaving out-of-date events in our sigs. It's because we're lazy we do it for the comedy value.

  20. I had a rib fillet instead of my usual eye fillet... it wasn't as good but it was still pretty damn awesome. And their potato & bacon thingies are ftw too. Sorry for not exactly being the life of the party, all this not sitting around the house all day is wearing me down
  21. *resists urge to start on the Mum jokes* Silver R32 GTS-t wide offset-mounted slimline plate on the front, parked in Wynnum. Looked tidy
  22. Yeah thanks for coming along guys, muchly appreciated! Even the weather stayed nice for us, stopping at the Fernvale Bakery (ooh I forgot the bakery was there... honest... oh well while I'm here... ) and chatting for a while topped off what was already a great day. I love those roads, you can go quickly enough around the corners to get the suspension working and actually enjoy the drive, all without doing anything dangerous and/or illegal. Shame about the extremely dodgy roadworks - wet tar and gravel anyone? - but once past we had a really nice run, we didn't get held up by anyone going 40km/h below the limit and riding their brakes either... until we got onto the highway and got caught behind a granny doing 60 in a 100 zone. In a Skyline, believe it or not. Oh the irony Thanks again to those who attended, and a special thanks to our Byron representative for making the effort to come along
  23. Nice idea but not one I think would be any more useful than the current method. Youtube etc use these keywords because with videos (and pics/audio) there's no "content" to index - without someone entering keywords, the system has no idea what a given video is about. On the other hand, threads containing text can be easily indexed by their content, anyone who can effectively use Google or Altavista should be able to search for threads by content. Keywords can be easily manipulated, abused or ignored - people could either put nothing or garbage in, or they'd put things like "turbo" and "boost" etc into their threads in the hopes of getting more people reading them. Also, the relevance of certain keywords could quite easily change - a person could ask a question about tyres, and the conversation could quite easily turn to suspension, brakes, tracks, etc. In this example, the original post would (should) contain keywords like "tyre", "rubber", "grip", "traction" etc, so if you did a keyword search on suspension, you'd miss out on the potentially excellent information later in the thread because the terms wouldn't match. Honestly I think the search function is best left the way it is, but nice suggestion
