  1. Brock dead: http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story...490-601,00.html Holy crap!
  2. Congrats on getting sponsorship too, they can be hard to come by!
  3. Ooh I like dress ups. That French maid outfit you wore for me the other day is lovely Col.
  4. Yes I'll be there by default. No threesomes though unless phatboi is a chick, and hot. I suspect you don't fit into this category, being a 'boi' and all lol
  5. ... and no doubt the one doing the longest burnouts too Good luck John!
  6. I drive a Series 2 R33 every day with a Nismo key, so yes they do work
  7. Would have been going to pick up Karen from work ROFLYeah sounds like me Bluetooth headset ftw
  8. I love it Probably not the most PC way of putting it but this man speaks the truth lol
  9. I can see the logic behind getting a scooter for daily inner-city commute, but don't get it with the intention of modding it further than a new screen. Use it purely as cheap transport. I suspect the reason for these things being popular with modders in places like Tokyo is that these would probably be the only practical form of these people own. They wouldn't have a decent non-Kei car or a 1000cc bike, they would just be too impractical. They haven't taken off much here because it's still completely realistic for us to own a full-sized car, a decent motorbike, or even more than one of each - why would we want to play with a scooter? That said, things are very quickly getting to the stage it's almost worth considering one, at which point you may start to see them being modded. If you're worried about it affecting your testicular fortitude though, my personal opinion on scooters is the same as for rice - it's your money, do with it what you will and anyone who gives you crap for spending your money how you like can go **** themselves. You can't stop people from calling you a poof though
  10. ^^^ what he said Also, apart from the short stroke, bike engines rev hard because of a low reciprocating mass and the fact that all the mass is very close to the crank, eg the flywheel is small and the clutch is several small plates rather than fewer large plates. I can't remember the technical term for it ><... moment of inertia?? Can't remember but I'm sure someone will Anyway, find and engine that doesn't have much weight to spin up, a short stroke (as mentioned already) and where all the mass is fairly central and you'll end up with a rev-happy engine. In my understanding the short stroke and having a stroke much shorter than the bore width makes it peaky (ie you need to rev the engine to make good power), and the rest makes it happy to do so.
  11. I'm no panel beater but I'm thinking metallic will make any work more obvious. Under some light the panels will match perfectly, under others they'll look different - well that's what happened to my maroon R33 when a panel beater painted the rear bar without blending anyway.
  12. Spotted a gunmetal R33 sporting very heavy damage parked on the footpath at Bardon about 15 minutes ago, ambos had only just pulled up as we drove past. It looked like it was a VERY big hit, I hope everyone was ok and that there wasn't anyone on the footpath at the time
  13. Doesn't bother me where we go. I'm an unemployed bum remember *Looks at Dave* *Starts shuffling paper around on the desk* I mean, I'm looking for work.
  14. No it's just the way the groups have been set up, when your primary user group was changed to SAU NSW Club Member, someone forgot to add the generic Members group as secondary. Your club member group gives you additional access to the NSW Club sections, but the Members group is where you get your rights for everything else. Yours should be fixed now btw.
  15. In any case, the "full potential" of a motor will vary depending on who tunes it, and how much money you have for parts, and development if you're not using an already-proven package. Even then, the actual power you make will vary a little, as no two engines are exactly the same. If you're talking RB25, Hordcore Performance in QLD have one making 795rwhp (a bit under 600rwkW), I believe it's still 2.5 litres, ie it hasn't been stroked. That's the most powerful one that I am personally aware of, but there are no doubt others. I have no idea what kind of maintenance is required on this car but I'm guessing if something did go bang, that the parts and work required to fix it wouldn't be cheap. RB26 - well the quickest one is the HKS drag GTR, which apparently puts out something like 1200kW. Completely unrealistic for someone on a limited budget but you did ask lol. If I were you, I would build an RB30/25, particularly given that you're obviously on a budget of some kind but don't mind if it takes you a while to put together. A search will bring up heaps more details but basically this involves putting an RB25 head on an RB30 bottom end. Apart from giving you an extra 500cc to play with, it also squares the engine (bore/stroke), and RB30 blocks aren't too hard to get hold of. You can use an RB26 head but they cost a lot more.
  16. I'm in!! I take it there isn't as much unwanted attention on a Tuesday night at Harry's? Thanks for posting this up too mate, I've been busy looking for work so haven't had much of a chance to organise dinner this week :\
  17. No you don't, what are you talking about? Nah just fixed it, try now.
  18. Lol thanks for sorting that out Shell - didn't get a chance to look at it over the weekend
  19. ROFL, I love it But... I hate it how when there is an altercation or disagreement between a driver and a pedestrian, it's always the driver that is presumed to be in the wrong. The thing that gets me though is this: if the driver is found to be in the wrong, he gets a fine/loss of points/insurance increase/permanent note on his record. If the pedestrian is found to be at fault, there is nothing done - the driver is let off but the pedestrian is not punished in any way either. Make them wear a huge fluoro vest with flashing lights on it for a month, with "I don't watch what I'm doing" written on it in big letters. That way drivers can see them, they're identified as a potentially suicidal pedestrian, and they're made to feel like an idiot and might actually think next time they cross the road. OK so it's a terrible example but you get the picture Oh, and this bit is GOLD!!!
  20. Sounds like it should be a relatively easy fix then Like a steering wheel down the pants?
  21. From your description it sounds like somehow the wiper arm has detached itself from the motor. I don't remember how Stag tailgates are put together but if you can get at it, check to see if a clip hasn't just fallen off or something. If you're not mechanically minded it might be worth taking it to a workshop and mention that you think this might be the case and ask them to look at it. Get someone to recommend a shop that won't take you for a ride (SAUWA club sponsors would be a good place to start) and possibly take a guy with you, from your sig I'm guessing you're female. Yes it's sexist, but some shops do still overcharge or outright lie to women if they think they can get away with it. If you want to check it, turn the rear wiper on, then go to the back of the car. If you can hear the wiper motor going, it's not wiring, fuses or a relay so you can avoid the nasty job of getting into the dash and steering column
  22. I was under the impression that if you can get into a place without encountering any obstacles (eg gate, fence) it's considered a thoroughfare. That's why police can walk through your front yard to get to your door, but need a warrant to go any further. As soon as they have to open a gate, step over a fence etc they need a warrant. This may or may not be the case, but this is my understanding. How is this applicable? Well I'm wondering if this means that, by ensuring that the appropriate fencing and doors/gates are set up, the location is considered private. I'm not suggesting that you fence off a road somewhere and claim it as private property, but if you happened to have an area suitable for this kind of activity on your property, maybe ensuring that the only way in is to open a gate or climb a fence will be enough?? Insurance would still be an issue if you're intending on making an "event" out of it though. I'm unsure at what point it legally becomes an event. I have not heard of the "visible from a public location" thing, if this is indeed true then it's crap. Goodbye paddock bashers, and learning how to drive on a farm, and goodbye any freedoms you might otherwise have on your OWN property. It's not my thing, but if I wanted to I should be allowed to do a burnout on my own property without worrying about being booked and the car taken away. On a side note - good work on trying to find somewhere to have fun legally! Unfortunately it seems with hooning being the government's favourite "ooh look we're doing something" scapegoat right now, and with elections not too far away, that you'll run into a lot of resistance. In Qld (and no doubt other states too) it's at the point now where you're either told that your event is not allowed outright, or that it's allowed but has so many restrictions on it that it becomes completely pointless, you might as well be driving to the shops. Best of luck!
  23. Looking (and no doubt going) really good Terry! 240rwkW should make a nice, quick daily driver, any more and it gets impossible to put power down. I hear you guys on the tyres, after the last bout of mods I did on my old 33, the tyres I thought weren't too bad suddenly couldn't cope. Nice curve on the graph too, it stays above 280rwhp for a fair chunk of the range A set of cams might keep the power climbing for even longer too
