Noone said you were supposed to know, but that doesn't mean we can't hang crap on you for it
  4. All R33's had exactly the same variable cam timing, in that (I think) the exhaust cam is retarded 2° between just above idle and until ~4800rpm. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong on the exact details but it's something like that. If you put your foot down, the car should sound different and go noticeably better once you hit 4800rpm or so. This is the cam timing doing its thing. Anyway, R33 VCT is a static cam timing (ie it's fixed at either 0° or 2°, it can't do anything in between) and is activated purely by an RPM switch, it wasn't until the Neo engines in the R34 that the RB had constantly variable cam timing, meaning it could be adjusted to any value within its range and could do so at any rpm. So the short answer to your question is all of them lol. The visual difference between your motor and your mate's (if they're both stock) is that his will have the ignitor box at the rear of the coil cover (black plastic box behind the stock BOV), yours will have a plug in its place. If either engine is modded then that will also explain differences between their appearance
  5. Absolutely gorgeous car mate, the amount of time and money in that is incredible. The biggest lure for me personally with SM is the level of detail and the engineering in their vehicles, it's really really good to see that people aren't afraid to apply that same level of attention to detail on vehicles that don't fit the "usual" SM mould. Me = voting for that

    Get A V8

I had some tard in a crappy old Falcon lean out the window and yell at me in my (at the time) rock stock R33: "I think you Dad's looking for his car!" I replied "I think the wrecker is looking for yours". He copped enough of a ribbing from his passengers that I didn't need to say anything else

  15. Hi all!! Tuesday night dinner is at the Norman Hotel - "Brisbane's worst vegetarian restaurant". Yes, this means they have steak. Lots of it. Huge, thick steaks. I've posted up early to give you time to put a few extra dollars aside - it's not going to break the bank, but these are very high quality steaks. Meals vary between around $10 up to $33 for a huge rump steak. It depends on what you order, but believe me they are worth it. They do have meals with chicken or fish instead of steak, but if you're not a carnivore you're out of luck. When: Tuesday, 22 August at 7:00 pm Where: Norman Hotel, 102 Ipswich Rd Woolloongabba 4102, (07) 3391 5022 RSVP: 12pm on Tuesday, 22 August. We will not book extra seats just in case someone arrives, if you turn up and haven't RSVP'd, you sit at another table. Map: Clicky Menu: http://www.normanhotel.com.au/ then click on "Dining" Come along, enjoy the company (maybe ) and meet your fellow SAUers!! Cheers Marc
  16. Indeed he does.
  17. Sure it wasn't a scooter Col? They can be pretty fast I hear
  18. At the risk of stating the obvious... I'm in
  19. *nods* What Gordo said. Hitting something at 160+ km/h is going to hurt just as much in a 100hp car as it would in a 1000hp car.
  20. The 250k you've been quoted is probably for getting the top-of-the-range 4wd dyno, PLUS the costs associated with setting up a room so you can actually run it.
  21. They're definitely not factory, the factory ones stop where the rear bar meets the side panels. That one wraps around until at least the number plate surround, and is probably a full wraparound (ie covers the whole lower section of the rear bar, as well as replacing the factory pods). It's a bit hard to tell from the pic whether this is the case, but I'd be looking at rear bar extensions rather than pods if you want one of these. I do like it though, very smooth
  22. Yeah they resurfaced the road a while ago and deliberately didn't sweep the gravel off; that's how the story I hear goes anyway. Absolutely stupid when you're trying to go for a (sensible) run on the bike and these morons make it so dangerous that it's hard to stay above walking pace. I can understand their reasoning to a degree but come on - there are better ways to handle what is undoubtedly a problem than by making it even more dangerous than it has to be. Perhaps there is some kind of a link between the dwindling number of motorsport facilities (and freedom at those left) and the increasing number of people willing to do silly things in the hills? Maybe this is a good indication that closing racetracks and restricting those left to little more than the equivalent of a trip to the shops is a really bad idea?
  23. rofl, oh the memories Good to see they still ensure they're looking their best for the camera
