  1. Don't just hook it all back up exactly how it was - get your copy of the Profec wiring/hose diagram, and... 1. Follow every single line and wire back so you know what and where it plugs into. Draw a diagram. Compare it to what's on the official one. Make changes if necessary. 2. Take every hose off, one at a time so you can't mix them up, blow through it (with an air nozzle if you can get your hands on one) in both directions so you know it's not blocked, or replace it if it's old/cracked or blocked for no apparent reason. 3. Cut the extra length out of the hoses, as I know yours are ridiculously long Just cut enough out to make them tidy, but leave plenty of slack in the lines, and cut from both ends, not just one. Make them (say) 10% longer than they have to be to reach. Cutting from both ends makes sure that the bit of hose you're putting over the fitting at each end is in reasonable condition. Reconnect the line, then repeat 2-3 for each one. 4. Check the wires with a multimeter for continuity (huge resistance levels = broken/dodgy wire). Check them visually for frayed/missing plastic sheath, replace the wire if it's stuffed. No twisting and taping... do it properly!! Crimp plugs onto (or solder) any cut wires. Check again for continuity. 5. Reconnect everything one at a time, double checking that you're putting it in the right place. Then, try driving it again with the Profec off, if it still runs stupid boost stop there and reconnect the line directly to the wastegate, and take it to someone who knows Profecs (or at least EBCs in general), have them check it and tell you whether it's shagged, or something is wrong. Yes this is time-consuming, but doing it yourself could easily save you $$$ and possibly a trip to Brissy - I've bolded the important bit If you have a mate up there who'll do this for you for a carton or whatever, do that, just make sure he knows what he's doing, and that you don't give him the carton until after he's finished
  2. Ewww Wrongtown... population: YOU lol
  3. I've seen the same car (well, probably the same car, sounds like it) a number of times, still waiting for a wave
  4. Lol yeah I saw you as I was on my way past a couple of lanes across, looked but you hadn't seen me yet so I thought "aah well" and kept cruising. Next thing I know I hear a spool/bov and figured you must have seen the SAU sticker Nice car btw, sticker job is tidy and isn't over the top
  5. OK... to connect the wastegate directly to the intake, connect the line coming out of this: to a line coming out of somewhere along here: The plenum is the best place to connect to but anywhere along the intake between the turbo and the motor is fine, as long as it's after the turbo it's ok. Hell you can even steal the hose going to the BOV, you might need to extend it but it will work - pull the hose off the end of the BOV and plug it into the wastegate actuator. Obviously this means that the BOV won't work, but this isn't a huge problem if you're only doing it for a short term to test something.
  6. When it's trying to limit the boost, the profec in your car makes a fast clicking noise - that's the solenoid opening and shutting to control the air pressure the wastegate actuator sees. The noise should be easily heard inside the cabin if you turn the stereo off. If you want to bring it back down I'm happy to have a look at it
  7. Dunno dude definitely sounds like something is dodgy. Did you try connecting the wastegate line directly to the intake? If you did feel free to ignore me but I cbf reading back today, so damn tired Anyway, if you haven't already tried it, use a new or known good bit of tubing. If it holds a factory boost level the wastegate is fine, the problem is in the Profec, the piping, or the wiring. If it doesn't, the wastegate flap, actuator arm, actuator or something is stuffed.
  8. Drive by braille... if you hear a bang, turn the wheel. If the noise gets louder, turn the other way.
  9. All dash lights are out? From memory they're on the same fuse as your taillights, check that, it might be a nice easy fix
  10. You're welcome to mine... and you've seen how boofy my head is too Only problem is that you'll have to pick it up from Toowong, as I'm working late tonight and I have the car so Karen can't drop it out If that's OK and/or you can't get hold of another one, you're welcome to use mine.
  11. Nice car mate! Looks bloody tidy... and I love R34s Re SAU Qld: We used to be CAMS affiliated but our members weren't seeing any benefit from it for the reasons that Daveo has already mentioned. There are very few CAMS tracks and events up here so it wasn't worth paying the renewal fee to retain the affiliation. One trip to a sponsor will often cover your membership fee, and generally if you're part of a car club you'll be treated much more favourably by workshops and retailers - they know there's a fair chance you know your stuff (so you don't usually get someone trying to sell you blinker fluid ), and that if they piss you off there's a whole community of people who'll hear about it and, more than likely, not go there. Also, we hold member-only events (like the Mt Cotton skidpan day) and are on the lookout to further expand our sponsor list. It's becoming increasingly difficult to organise things like the skidpan without involvement in a club. Just to clarify one point though - SAU Qld Inc and www.skylinesaustralia.com are two separate entities, though obviously we do have common interests!
  12. Argh that sucks Dave! Mind you, you still have over one whole day before racing starts, that's plenty of time to source, buy, fit and bed in a clutch, get to it! Chop chop!
  13. Lol nah was really aimed at the thread starter... there's a difference between some typos, and giving someone a headache
  14. Normally I don't say anything, but geez man, your grammar and spelling are absolutely atrocious! I'm not sure whether you're deliberately mis-spelling words or whether there is something else going on, but it hurts trying to read what you've typed. The term "taking a chainsaw to the English language" seems appropriate here. Anyway, now that's off my chest I'll reply to your original post I can't say I've never done anything silly in or on cars and bikes, but one of my close relatives has lost his license a number of times, and was handed a 22 year suspension (2x absolute + 2 years), but this was reduced to 5 years after a visit to the appeals court. He did heaps of really stupid things, and I am amazed that he managed not to hurt/kill himself or someone else, but he has most definitely learned his lesson and now drives more sedately than my Mum... lol. He's kept his license incident-free since getting it back a few years ago
  15. Nice pics, can't wait to see the vid After the second lot of diesel went down I spun heaps, but that's just an excuse to loop it the rest of the way and turn a mistake into a donut with a cool sideways exit lol
  16. Sounds like the boost controller isn't hooked up correctly. The hoses might not be leaking but if they're plugged into the wrong place, they won't be doing a thing. The fact that you're freeboosting with the EBC off indicates to me that you have a vacuum line hooked up backwards/to the wrong place somewhere, or that a line to the wastegate or to the controller is blocked or crushed. Get a proper diagram of the Profec showing all of the connections (particularly the air/vacuum lines), and trace each of the vacuum lines back to make sure that the correct line is plugged into the correct place on the EBC, and that it's not blocked or crushed. An easy test for this is to take the vacuum hose that goes to the wastegate, and one that comes from the intake of the car after the turbo, and join the two with nothing else in between (don't forget to block any other lines you unplug, don't just leave them open). It should run stock boost, or around 0.5 bar. If it doesn't, there is a problem with either the hoses you've just joined (blocked, crushed), the wastegate has issues (very unlikely), or you've connected the wrong hoses up lol Call me if I haven't explained this properly... which wouldn't surprise me What Alex said I've already spoken to you about this one I have no idea... so take Alex's advice lol. As for the rear washer, it's possible that the plug on the washer bottle wasn't put back on, or that the tubing wasn't reconnected under the bonnet. Check the simple things first. Erm... never been to Rocky so I haven't had *any* experiences with workshops there No problems by plumbing back - that's what the factory gear is designed to do, and venting to the atmosphere won't give you any performance benefit. But then, neither do enormous fluoro green stripes...
  17. I'm impressed - your new 'no more whoring at work ever' policy has survived nearly two whole weeks
  18. Looks like she's coming together nicely dude. Might be time to start thinking about internals (and a bigger turbo ), particularly if you're going to keep looking for more power, would hate to see all this hard work and such a nice car go bang prematurely. One thing that I'm curious about though, and I'm not going to pretend to be an expert, but if 21/22psi is "on the edge" of the turbo's ability, is 20psi on the downward curve of its efficiency range?
  19. w00t
  20. Aah thought it was you Yeah Karen (SMR33) and I were looking at a unit in the complex, heard an RB and a few seconds later you guys came around the corner lol Sucks about your missus getting booked though
  21. Will be good to see it back on the road... it sucked so bad to see it in trouble so soon after getting it on the road On an unrelated note... you didn't happen to have Anna with you? (bottom left) lol
  22. Awww thanks guys Starting to feel old lol
  23. Yes it was! Thought it was you but didn't get a good look because I was busy not running into the traffic in front of me
  24. I quite like the look of a (genuine) Evo. Spotted a wine red R33 pulled over, bonnet up heading out of Ipswich, just after the Warrego Hwy merge at Riverview. Hope everything was ok - by the time we'd turned around and come past again help had already arrived so we didn't stop, too many cooks etc.
