    Visiting Qld!

Argh I saw this thread way too late Oh well might catch up with you while you're up here Shell, if you read this Chilli is on at Fasta Pasta at Springwood this week, PM me if you want more info. Would be good to catch up, haven't seen you in ages
  4. Yep cops are going mental again this year, which I don't see as a bad thing considering the number of idiots on the road during the Christmas/New Year break. Sadly though, as usual, their focus isn't the "Fatal Four", it's "Speed and those other three things". If it can't be policed by sticking a camera on the side of the road or by comparing a sign to a number read out on a measuring device they're not interested. Get rid of the right lane dawdlers, the 60-in-a-100-zone grannies, the shitboxes, the weavers, the non-functioning indicators, the tailgaters etc - they are far more dangerous than someone marginally over our ridiculously low speed limits. That said, during the Xmas break, Cressida > Skyline
  5. Congrats mate
  6. Holy crap, nice bike mate! I've always had a bit of a soft spot for the 98 'foxeye' Blades. I know someone who is in the market for a new bike after some idiot in a Commodore wrote off his R6, I'll point him this way. Free bump btw
  7. Quick note - I wasn't actually involved in organising this cruise. Not having a go or anything mate, I just don't like to take credit for others' work

    Asshole

Please don't group all bikers in with the mentality of the moron listed at the top of the thread. Regardless of whether you're on a bike, in a car, you're a pedestrian, or whatever, if you damage someone else's property you should take responsibility for it. I suspect that this "person" would be an arrogrant prick regardless of what mode of transport he was using at the time. I don't understand the problem that people have with bike riders cutting through STOPPED traffic, except in situations where (like in Squizz's case) they don't leave enough space. If you have to worry about handlebars taking your mirrors off, it's too close. If they are obviously taking considerable care, then I don't have a problem with it. Don't forget that nearly all bike riders drive cars too and are exposed to exactly the same things from bike riders when in their cars. In my experience, car drivers are a lot worse to bikers than vice versa. On my bike I've had people merge onto me while looking me in the eyes (so they knew I was there), obviously thinking "he'll move or get run over". And before I start, for what it's worth I don't split moving traffic, or traffic stopped at lights. I *only* split lanes during a traffic jam, and then it's at a pace where I can literally stop on the spot (usually <20km/h). That said I don't care if people want to split lanes, as long as they're sensible about it. I've seen idiots split lanes on the back wheel. Feel free to open your door/swing your hiab out on them. I agree *if* the biker is causing a problem by splitting. If he is going up the middle and leaving plenty of space, and makes a decent effort not to hold up traffic when the lights go green, then I don't care if one goes past my window. Note that deciding to hold the throttle flat just to make it hard for the bike to pull back into traffic does not mean that the bike was the one causing the problem. That's like blaming the toaster for electrocuting you, when you were the one jamming the knife in it. I had some moron in a car do that to me one time when I was idling through completely stopped traffic (as in, people were locking their cars and walking across the road to the shops). I was doing all of about 15km/h, and this guy got all agro and kicked his door open in front of me and screamed "why can't you <bleeeep> just wait like everyone else has to?". I calmy asked him that if there was a perfectly safe way for him to get through the traffic jam, would he take it... he said "that's not the <bleep> point" etc. It's just a case of people getting the shits that you can get through when they can't. I gave up trying to reason with him when he began threatening violence... I ended up having to tell him to either try hitting me (me in full suit of armour and kevlar knuckles = teh win), or to shut his door and let me get the f*ck on with my day. Exactly. Splitting moving traffic is stupid.Off-topic: longest post EVAR
  9. Such a shame I sold my car before the cruise, would have been nice to get some good professional shots of it before it went Edit: I'm an idiot and can't read properly lol
  10. Awesome day, a huge thanks to Andrew, Dave, James etc for their efforts, they are most definitely appreciated. A special thanks to Erin too for being the driving force (excuse the pun ) behind the whole day and doing so much of the behind-the-scenes stuff that makes a day like this go as smoothly as it did. AND... I believe this cruise lets us reclaim the throne to the BIGGEST SKYLINE MEET IN THE SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE, beating the previous best of 99 which (if memory serves) was set by SAU NSW. Good effort people
  11. 1 for me please
  12. I'm not after a turbo ATM but found this pic on my PC which might help some of you guys trying to figure out what you want. Obviously there are many factors other than a power target that will dictate what you want but hopefully this will help anyway
  13. You will be started on a rate dependant on your skills and experience, this is open to a little negotiation when you start, and wide open during regular pay reviews. Basically at pay review time (which is pretty soon actually), you say 'I'm worth $x, and here's why' - if the GM agrees, you go to that rate. It's not really set in stone so I can't really give you a solid figure - work hard, prove your worth, and you will be rewarded. Oh btw I work with Cyrus in case you're wondering
  14. How harsh was that VB Commy that died on the start line? Second last run of the whole night and it had to be towed home. We know this because Cyrus and I passed it on the Ipswich Motorway at about Riverview being towed with about 3 metres of snatch strap, and 5 people in the Commodore... :uhh: Pfft, wheelie bars are for wimps 7 sec would be a blast!! Just holding onto the bars would be near-on impossible. The bone stock CBR1000RR than ran 10.55@135mph was impressive, lifted the wheel a good foot off the ground at the top of first and part of second, fairly impressive considering when you're at the drags you try to keep it pretty much on the ground. Changing into third at 180-odd km/h then feeling the front wheel come down is... exciting o..... k......
  15. Was a good night, I couldn't afford to run but still enjoyed being there. Plenty of Skylines with big flameage is good, and there were also a few RB Salivas out there too. The best run of the night was the drag bike though, with a 7.7@165mph
  16. Me = spectator
  17. I'm still coming out, but probably won't be running. The coils STILL aren't done in the car so it won't be there, not racing at least, and whether I run the bike on the night really depends on how weak I'm feeling and how freezing bloody cold it is
  18. Jayson - looks like a script so the username generation would be automated. Even more sad
  19. ChandraHens sent mine. I don't think this info will be much use though, given that it does seem like a script. Wow, how 1337
  20. There was a fairly amusing thread not dissimilar to this one posted a few weeks ago... Upholstery cleaner should do the trick if you get to it nice and quick and don't leave it parked in the sun all day.
  21. Happy birthday ya old bag
  22. Bastard Hehe I need the cubes, you should feel how hard the 250s have to work to get me moving at a respectable rate, the poor little things scream against my 105kg of solid muscle 110km/h straight road rollons then?
  23. Yeah I jump on a 250 and it feels like I can just about touch my knees together But you do get used to it, my bike has a fairly wide tank on it so getting on anything else I notice the difference, though before I bought my bike and rode around on the two fiddy, I'd jump on a 600 and think it was HUUUGE You get used to pretty much anything over time.
  24. Personally I'd go the CBR250, but that's mainly because I know at least a bit about them (my brother had two before his current '03 R6) and I already own a Honda so I'm biased toward them too They're a little screamer too. I rode my bike (929 Blade) 200km a day for about 6 weeks - it was comfy enough for a sports bike but I wouldn't want to go more than 200km at a time without a break, surprisingly, for me at least the right thumb is the worst bit, it goes dead from leaning on it and, being the throttle hand, you can't really rest it that much, especially with a touchy throttle. Without knowing what you intend to do with it, it's pretty hard to recommend a particular bike or even type of bike.
