    hi all, yeah that's one of your blow-by hoses, really common for these to go rock hard and split from heat cycling as suggested above. A replacement will cost you around $40 from a dealer so use whatever you can, heater hose etc will still last a while. The one you have that split is made from rubber just like the other u shaped hose you mentioned just severely deteriorated.
