  1. What about the diagnostic tests? To me that is much more interesting than knowing my fuel consumption or precise AFM voltage, etc. Being able to plug in a small compact unit to run some diagnostics would be great.
  2. Volvo S80: http://www.leftlanenews.com/2006/01/17/vol...-by-the-police/
  3. What offset do you require?
  4. Pete, Emailed you earlier this morning.
  5. As per the forum rules, please post prices.
  6. If cranks are anything like engine blocks, my understanding is that there are distinct advantages refreshing a used item from a metalurgy point of view, that is, the used item has already hardened and done any warping/etc. Anyone more knowledgable then me (ha! that's not hard ) care to comment?
  7. 07 3847 9999 Make sure you're not busy when you call as he'll want a chat
  8. Yes, until you munch the pistons (unless you retune). Again, check for ECU error codes. If its going in to limp home (rich and retard) mode, its a pretty good indicator of detonation which will lunch your engine. Don't just stick a new part in without first working out what the problem is.
  9. Rich and retard maybe? I forget what the GT-R's threshold is. Have you checked the ECU for fault codes?
  10. I notice you have R32 listed in the title heading (and in the link in your signature). Is there actually a model for R32 Skylines (or any Skyline )?
  11. Err.. the email address provided by my ISP?
  12. Nick, Thanks for that. I managed to drag up the appropriate government document anyway: http://www.accc.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/663755 Although the standard itself mandatory, compliance with the standard does not involve any submission and certification (i.e. the manufacturer certifies the product). So everything is hunky dory. Soon as I get a little cash (hurry up ATO!), I'll shoot you a PM.
  13. That use to be the case with regard to taxing items of less than $1000, but it seems to have changed: http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page.cfm?u=5549
  14. According to customs, it doesn't matter: http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page.cfm?u=5549 I wonder when this new $1000 or less thing came in, because I got hit for duty/taxes on an item in October last year after they accepted a value of ~$300. Just remember, even if the item is declared below $1000, doesn't mean they won't ask you to prove the item/s are worth $1000 (inc. shipping costs, etc).
  15. He was very busy, and asked me to try and speed things along, but was very cool when the clutch didn't get back as fast as he wanted. Because his premise aren't huge, when he has a busy period I imagine it becomes a bit of a headache for him having undrivable cars around. Best thing to do is ring and ask him -- 95195150. Nath's a great bloke so I am sure he will try and help. I know he has quite a lot of cars in his shop this week (I was in their yesterday), but I imagine the two of you can probably work out a quiet time for it to be done
  16. Jim Berry clutches include an uprated pressure plate. jwah: If you search under my username you'll find a thread called "Clutch Thoughts" or similar. Off the top of my head, Nathan from Grey Imports had the clutch out on Monday. I express posted it to Jim, who couriered it back on Thursday. It would have arrived at Grey Imports on Friday but for an addressing problem. So, it took Jim two-to-three working days to completely grind off the old clutch material, add new material, uprate the pressure plate, clean everything up, balance, pack and send. Best bit is the feel. Its almost exactly like stock -- perhaps ever so slightly heavier -- but it bites so much harder. Edit: spleling and garmmar
  17. I assume by jack stands you mean axle stands? Are they the cast or tubular variety? In regards to the Australian Standards issue, can someone clarrify if there is a distinction between A.S. approved and "complies with", because with many regulations there is a huge difference. Usually "complies with" implies that the manufacturer warrants the product meets the stated specification, whereas approved means its been submitted for inspection and documentation is issued to show the item has been found to meet the specification. Just to add a bit more. From an Australian Standards policy document: Sorry for the hassle, but you can understand my concern given the possibility of serious injury should equipment like a jack fail. I am genuinely and seriously interested in purchasing; I'm not just tyre kicking for the hell of it.
  18. Jim's Stage 1 clutches are only about $700 anyway. Doubt you'll find any decent clutch for substantially less. The other major factor will be labor for RnR'ing the clutch/box and is going to be the same regardless of clutch brand. The only slight inconvenience with Jim's clutch is you have to wait for it to be rebuilt. As long as your mechanic doesn't mind having your car in their workshop for a few days its not really an issue. Remember to have the flywheel machined too.
  19. ^^^ This is correct. Fujitsubo even include tested dB on their website. I can't find a listing for a Powergetter for an R34 GT-T, but here is the R33 GTS-t entry. For those that can't be bothered to click: (Senario | Stock Exhaust | Powergetter) Idling | 65 dB | 82 dB Approach exhaust noise (4800 rpm) | 87 dB | 99 dB 3000rpm | 77 dB | 95 dB 5000rpm | 87 dB | 97 dB 4000rpm - 6000rpm response | 97 dB | 109 dB The Super Legalis R is a much better choice (and considerably more expensive IIRC).
  20. Thanks, I may just do that if I ever have a working car in which to cruise
  21. What are your thoughts on the quality of those guages? I have been rather tempted by the Just Jap special on them.
  22. So what, if anything, did you end up doing with the sump and the squish areas in the head? PS. Where do you live so I can tell.. er... santa clause which chimney to go down
  23. Might be a good idea to post the model number.
  24. Unless you don't want it made public, would you consider posting it up? I'm sure other members (moi!) would be interested in your research.
