  1. Well, considering you are only notified that a particular car is coming up for auction a day in advance at best, your either going to have to drop everything, pay for a full fare return flight (plus accomodation, plus meals, blah blah blah), or your going to have to go for a few days and hope a car comes up for auction while you are over there. I don't think either are very good choices... A better idea is to find a good agent. Not only should you get the auction report but your agent's buyers in Japan will visit the auction and can personally inspect the car on the day of the auction. Which is why finding a trustworthy agent is key. LW.
  2. Your going to fly to Japan to check out a car? (Hypothetically, obviously) LW.
  3. You can find all the specs for that car here. Its actually got more under the bonnet than you might think, although unfortunatly its not a Nissan, but a Honda Life. LW.
  4. I agree with predator -- you have to look hard to find a car that bad, and I know since I am on the auction lists ATM. What you do see is a lot of grade 3-ish cars, with C interiors, about 80,000km but very worn handbrakes, steering wheels, and so forth. The good thing is that most often all of these details are actually noted on the auction sheet (look for a question mark next to the km reading in particular), so buyers should know what they are getting in to. LW.
  5. There is no such thing as a "dirt cheap" R32 GT-R. Anything that is "dirt cheap" is dirt. There are good bargains, but by and large you do get what you pay for. After looking around the local market and not finding anything suitable in my price range, I currently looking for a R32 GT-R in Japan. However, unlike some people I have set myself a nice healthy budget for the initial purchase, and have very healthy cash reserves if need be. Those trying to get a car here and on the road for 15 or 16K are ultimately going to loose out IMHO. What I am saying is, don't just look at the lowest prices people are paying and assume that's the going rate for a good GT-R. Budget closer to $18-20k and you can get something nice and clean. The few thousand you pay extra at the time of purchase will more than likely pay for itself in the future. And yes, there are exceptions to every rule, but they are just that: exceptions. LW.
  6. Only if you own this Excel: Edit: Image fixed. LW.
  7. LOL. I would love to stick those on a Volvo 240 or similar. LW.
  8. There is funny, and then there is sad. Sure spinners on some sh*tbox like a Magna are funny, but on something decent .... LW.
  9. Ask, and thou shalt recieve. Edit: its about 20Mb and compressed with WinRar. LW.
  10. Universities often have student loans with no (or very low) interest. If you need fast cash, that's probably a good option (although there is usually a $1000 limit unless you provide a reason I believe). LW.
  11. Not if I get to him first. LW.
  12. Finally managed to find this: LW.
  13. Yeah, I would like to know that too. Does anyone have actual specs for the clutch? LW.
  14. The easiest way is a bleed valve, but its not the best way as boost will spike. If you want a stable boost level a electronic boost controller is best. LW.
  15. Congrats. I am slowly wandering down the same path, so I know what its like. Just one question: please tell me you have priced insurance costs? Hate to see another 'line plowed into a tree with no comprehensive cover LW.
  16. Merli: cheers. Other recommendations / suggestions welcome. LW.
  17. Stage 1 sounds perfect. What sort of cost was it (PM me if you don't want to post). Cheers, LW.
  18. So what sort of costs were involved for Stage 1 and 2? And did you find them to be satisfactory (unlike stage 3 ). LW.
  19. Merli: Cheers for the info. I should perhaps have been more descriptive. I am not really all that interested in learning how to race, etc, but more the car control side of things. I am planning a (fairly major) step up from a lowly car to a GT-R and just want to ensure I have the skills to not wrap myself around a tree. LW.
  20. Hi All, I was wondering if people who have been to some advanced driving courses would mind mentioning where they went, their impressions (good, bad, evil, etc ), and cost..? Cheers, Lucien.
  21. Is there any definitive ruling on whether C/F panels are legal (in NSW anyway)? LW.
  22. Force: That's a nice looking workshop you've got there. Out of interest, what is the business name (in case I need something done in the future)?
  23. What a waste of some poor R32s... LW.
