  1. Just to go off topic a little, but is it my imagination or do the prices on some of the popular sites -- e.g. Nengun -- stay relatively stable regardless of currency fluctuations? I mean I've been watching some of the parts prices and despite the high exchange rate they don't seem to have shifted... Edit: Sorry, that sounds like a complaint: its not meant to be Just an observation. I assume they build in a couple of Yen safety margin.
  2. No, I don't think that's a fair criticism. This place isn't run as a trading site, its run as a forum for knowledge sharing which happens to have a trading function for the convenience of its members. Its an "addon", not the core of the forums. Insofar as they can, I think the mods do a great job keeping the crap to a minimum: if you want a counter example, go an have a browse at NissanSilvia. For what its worth I think it sucks you got ripped off. However, I don't think its unreasonable to place a large emphasis on the end purchaser to cautious. As I said in an earlier post, a quick look at Cefiro_PWA's is quite revealing.
  3. Its been floating around for awhile. Oh, and its a crap DVD IMHO.
  4. Here's one I stole from SK's campulley thread. Its the silver sticker on top of the cam cover: Lucien.
  5. Are you thinking of Penetrene? NewKleer: Out of interest, where did you buy the socket? Lucien.
  6. Yes, as will all the options I mentioned.
  7. You can try and weasel your way out all you like: fact is you have no evidence for the claims you made. I'll repost exactly what you said: You quite clearly state that the Magic cat equates to a "fancy straight through pipe", that is, that it does nothing. You can't provide any evidence because you don't have any. Yes, I have read a number of the posts by Magic Performance on Nissan Silva. Let me quote what they said: This situation is in no way similar to that which you described relating to importing cars. That there is no definitive document showing compliance with Australian standards is not proof that it does not comply with the standards. . A lack of evidence is not evidence of anything but.... a lack of evidence. Funnily enough, SK is trying to fill this void rather than just making wild claims with no evidence.
  8. So in otherwords you have absolutely no evidence one way or other, yet can safetly say all Magic cat owners have been ripped off. As someonestolecc said, lets wait for the results.
  9. A timing belt replacement sticker (or lack thereof) is often a good indication.
  10. GCG will have the turbo --> manifold and compressor gaskets. The turbo --> dump and the "twin turbo" air intake gaskets you'll need to get from Nissan AFAIK. Manifold --> head gaskets are also Nissan, but quite cheap. Studs you can buy anywhere and should be cheap: just take along one of each stud you need. The copper washers are a bit of a bitch to find. Locking plates are cheap if you do decide to replace them. Once upon a time Nissan made a gasket kit for the turbos, but no longer You're probably looking at $50 worth of studs, maybe $100-150 for the gaskets, and $50 for miscellaneous items (locking plates, washers, nuts, etc). The more annoying part is actually getting together everything you need. There is a reason that HKS charge out the arse for their turbo kits and can get away with it: absolutely everything is included. Saving money means (usually) a loss of time. Edit: Its times like this you will find that your NSW SAU club membership pays you back in spades. Don't forget to flash it at GCG and Crows Nest Nissan. Lucien.
  11. Mark: what were the symptoms (when your master cylinder died)? Lucien.
  12. Replace the A-LSD? That or piggy back I imagine. Lucien.
  13. I don't think he wanted the link posted up Lucien.
  14. There is a thread about her (and other's) problems with the A-LSD and PFC in either the 'General Auto' or 'Skyline & Other Vehicles' forums. Of course I can't for the life of my find the stupid thread Edit: Finally found it -- http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=28464 Lucien.
  15. I happily stand correct
  16. Must... not... feed... the... troll..... You have evidence its just a straight through pipe? Post it up. Or is this just going to be like your tirade against import agents?
  17. Am I blind, or is it missing the ABS do-hicky?
  18. Bit shy are we? Car looks nice though is that front bar a different shade of white (or just the photo)? Lucien.
  19. I'd do them all because you can, its cheap insurance, and I like thorougness Realistically, the head studs should definately be replaced IMHO. They are subject to a lot of expansion and contraction, and its not unusual for them to crack. For the 30-something dollars it costs to replace them its a definite in my books Turbo --> dump and turbo --> manifold are more iffy. Tommyk: A bit more is coming back. You'll need two locking plates and check your manifolds for straightness. Lucien.
  20. 2 x Head --> Manifold Gaskets 2 x Manifold --> Turbo Gaskets 2 x Turbo --> Dump Gaskets 2 x Dump --> Front Gaskets You will also need the gaskets for the twin turbo pipe (there are three). What else... hmm.. Oil return gasket? Comp wheel gasket? Make sure they change the manifold --> head (and preferably turbo --> dump) studs. Here are some of Nissan prices I got awhile ago (for an R32, but should be all the same I imagine): Turbo -> Manifold Stud: 14411A :: 14064-05U01 ($13.24ea x 8 = $105.92) Turbo -> Manifold Nut: 14432 :: 14432-P7600 :: 14432-0B700 ($7.85ea x 8 = $62.80) Turbo -> Dump Stud: 14414M :: 14414-17F00 ($12.21ea x 10 = $122.10) Turbo -> Dump Nut: 14432+A :: 14432-P7600 :: 14432-0B700 ($7.85ea x 10 = $78.50) Dump -> Front Gasket: 20692M :: 20692-P9000 :: 20692-65J00 ($16.58ea x 2 $33.16) Dump -> Front Stud: 14440A :: 14064-N4200 :: 14064-58Y00 (Unknown; have to come from Japan) Dump -> Front Nut Fix: 20602 :: 20602-41G00 (Unknown; have to come from Japan) Much better to use aftermarket Edit: Oh, you'll also need the copper washers for the oil/water lines.
  21. I don't know why you find it so funny: almost every example of a an anti-lag system I can think of is on a car that is overhauled regularly. If there weren't serious longevity issues, don't you think manufacturers would all be running anti-lag? Lucien.
  22. Mount holes? What the? There is a huge aftermarket industry for sunroofs: generally they get a hacksaw/tinsnips type device out and make the "mounting holes" Lucien.
  23. No offence, but why don't you use some initative and call the paint supplier. I posted a link to their details a few posts up. They should be able to tell you who regularly stocks their paint in your area.
