  1. Nissan is actually quite cheap for the exhaust manifold studs: about $3ea IIRC. Otherwise try Repco or a decent auto care or exhaust shop. Lucien.
  2. HICAS has no relationship to your radiator/coolant. Low powersteering fluid may trigger the light. However, the problem is much more likely to be your boss. Lucien.
  3. Do a search for posts about walbro by predator. The sock on his walbro dissolved within 6 months. LW.
  4. I'm glad this topic has come up again because I was going to post a question about GT-R manifolds in the original thread about extrusion honed manifolds that John posted. Despite having pulled apart the exhaust side of my car all of about 2 months ago, I think I'm going to have to do it again as I think the rear manifold is leaking. Its a shit of a job, so I am looking for an incentive I'd like to know that too. "Stainless manifold" isn't terribly descriptive John: are you able to clarrify exactly what brand the stainless manifold was? AFAIK, the main options are: 1) Keep the stockers. 2) Go for the UAS extrusion honed versions. 3) One of many jap. manifolds. Of the Japanese, the ones I have come across are from Silk Road (~$500 + delivery/charges), HPI (~$1500 + delivery/charges) and Garage Saurus (don't recall the cost): unfortunately none of them have any flow data on their websites. To those who have replaced/changed their manifolds (with twin lowmounts): what did you use and what benefits did you notice? Cheers, Lucien.
  5. I live in Leichhardt. Apologies for the failure to correctly identify you: I must have been exhausted from my efforts at gym Lucien
  6. Gasket goop is not really a great idea IMHO: your better off getting replacement gaskets. Do it right the first time. Besides, if you ever take it apart you'll be cursing yourself when you have to spend half and hour trying to clean hardened gasket goop crap off every joint. Lucien.
  7. Heh. Yes, its a different forum so you need to sign up Lucien.
  8. Gary, What's your feelings on aftermarket timing/cam belts? I notice there is a bit of a fad in getting belts that are X times stronger than the OEM for considerably more $ than the OEM. Given your belt seemed to have stretch a little, do you think one of the stronger aftermarket jobbies is a worthwhile investment. Lucien.
  9. Followed A?L-01L (Grey GTS-4) down Norton Street :wavey: Oh and I think you need a tune: when you put your foot on it a huge cloud of black smoke emerged Lucien.
  10. I think Duncan might know it (IIRC he bought some from Repco awhile ago).. perhaps shoot him a PM. Lucien.
  11. Nissan or a decent auto shop like Repco. The two nut method should be fine unless they are particularly hard to get out. LW.
  12. No, I am (hung like) a horse and use Castrol SAF-XA for LSDs and Redline for the gearbox LW.
  13. According to someone who recently repaired thiers, to have the clutch rewound was about ~$120 IIRC. Obviously that doesn't include any labour to actually remove it. Lucien
  14. SydneyKid, once again, you've outdone yourself. Excellent, excellent, excellent. Lucien.
  15. My guess is the windings on your magnetic clutch are on the way out. Lucien.
  16. While your doing to turbos, its probably worth doing the manifolds ... Its a shit of a job to change the dump pipes, but its quite possible for the home mechanic over a few days if you feel like saving the cash. LW.
  17. That has already been done to death earlier in this thread. The sensor in the cat does not affect fuel mixtures: its merely to warn you that the cat is fscking hot and not to go parking on a flammable surface. LW.
  18. A few people on NissanSilvia have: search for threads started by "autObarn" (his name is Trent.. has has a login on here too) in their for sale section. Lucien.
  19. True, but given the prices on NS (as low as $150 for a "hybrid" copy FMIC) I doubt there is going to be many used ones much lower on here LW.
  20. Try NissanSilvia.com (the traders section): the is a price war going on over there. Lucien.
  21. What's your best price on the PFC? I don't want to sound like a tard, but that's pretty much the price for one new (especially once postage is included). Cheers, Lucien.
  22. They pop up every now and then when rice.. err.. people replace the stockers with aftermarket ones. Just keep an eye on the forsale section. Lucien.
  23. Magic are not that cheap: don't forget they started off at about $700, fell to $500, and have only recently become $300. I imagine a fair whack of that is to do with growing market acceptance, new competition, and the costs of R&D having been recovered. Lucien.
  24. That's certainly my understanding of the BATMBL's assertions. I also agree with you that if Magic is selling "catalytic converters" to the public which don't meet the necessary environmental guidelines, they should (and would) be forced to withdraw the product from the market. As a consumer, I think I have every right to believe that when I purchase a "catalytic converter" that it will be appropriate for the prevailing legal requirements given that I have no way to verify its (environmental) performance. Has anyone thought to contact Magic themselves and verify these details? I would, but I don't have time today (sadly I am not torquing down engine heads, but writting essays ). Lucien.
  25. Sydneykid: Did any of your testing including emissions (rather than just performance)? Cheers, Lucien.
