  1. Thanks mate: you've been a huge help: off the top of my head the standard is about 57mm or there abouts. Off I got to find 8 x 57mm studs @ M10 x 1.25 BTW, I found this little printable chart quite handy for working out size and thread pitch http://www.boltdepot.com/fastener-informat...hread-Gauge.pdf Cheers, Lucien.
  2. Interesting. They look similar to the turbo/dump studs I got from GCG today (they don't have the turbo/manifold ones ), but seem a bit longer (which makes sense, since the Nissan part numbers are different). Are you able to stick a ruler on it for length? Cheers, Lucien.
  3. Hi All, First off, some of you have probably read about my problems in another thread about leaking manifolds. To cut to the chase, I basically have a leak somewhere around the exhaust manifold or turbos on my R32 GT-R. I have decided that I may as well be thorough and replace most of the gaskets, studs and nuts as I go. Anyway, I have (or will have tomorrow) everything I need except the studs, nuts and washers where the turbo meets the exhaust manifold. Crows Nest Nissan can get them, but its going to be over $200 for the eight studs/nuts/washers which is just outrageous IMHO. Speaking to SydneyKid, he said that the studs are just a standard metric size and should be available through a generic nut supplier. He also said the stud pitch and length/height is listed in the workshop manual. I feel like a bit of a gimp, but I can't for the life of me find the details in the workshop manual. I have gone through every single page of the english R32 Workshop Manual and the only details listed (that I can see) are tightening torques. Perhaps they are listed in the R33 or R34 manuals, or the Japanese R32 manual: unfortunately I don't have those. Does anyone know what the specs for the studs are, or know where they are listed? Again, I feel like a bit of a fool for asking, but I have drawn a blank :Oops: Edit: So people know what I am talking about: Cheers, Lucien.
  4. The Nissan dealer found them: suprisingly they are actually cheap (like $2.50). The only think I haven't sourced yet are the turbo/manifold studs and nuts. Nissan wants nearly $200 for the 8 sets of nuts+bolts+washers: you'd think they were made of gold. Anyway, after consulting Yoda (aka. SydneyKid) he said just to go to any old nut shop with the stud specifications. Just trying to find the pitch/length in the workshop manul ATM. LW.
  5. Richard: no worries. From what I have seen it looks like an annoying job. Spoke to GCG. They sell a T25/28 gasket kit, but they reakon the turbo to dump flange gasket won't work as the Nissan one is slightly different. Can anyone confirm this? Edit: I'm thinking the best way to go is to get 2 x kits + studs + bolts from GCG. Then get 2 x turbo -> dump gaskets + 2 x dump -> front gaskets from Nissan. Only thing I can't work out is the attachment of the exh. manifold to the head: I assume it uses replaceable studs, but I can't find a part listing? Lucien.
  6. Finally got a price through Nissan: $24.39 (I think that's ex GST) LW.
  7. Well my day just went from bad to worse. Turbocharger Gasket Kit: 14401K :: 14401-05U25 (No longer available; need individual part numbers) Turbo -> Manifold Stud: 14411A :: 14064-05U01 ($13.24ea x 8 = $105.92) Turbo -> Manifold Nut: 14432 :: 14432-P7600 :: 14432-0B700 ($7.85ea x 8 = $62.80) Turbo -> Dump Stud: 14414M :: 14414-17F00 ($12.21ea x 10 = $122.10) Turbo -> Dump Nut: 14432+A :: 14432-P7600 :: 14432-0B700 ($7.85ea x 10 = $78.50) Dump -> Front Gasket: 20692M :: 20692-P9000 :: 20692-65J00 ($16.58ea x 2 $33.16) Dump -> Front Stud: 14440A :: 14064-N4200 :: 14064-58Y00 (Unknown; have to come from Japan) Dump -> Front Nut Fix: 20602 :: 20602-41G00 (Unknown; have to come from Japan) So that's over $400 ex GST, and doesn't even include the expensive gaskets. **** me dead. LW.
  8. So is there any reason too get the resistor type? Out of interest, is there somewhere that keeps stock of the BCPR6ES-11 (or minus the resistor) in Sydney. All the local places I have been too only stock bommodore and other common car types. LW.
  9. Richard, I only disconnected the front pipes from the dumps: I didn't remove the dumps as its not necessary to drain the block. If you interested, have a look in the tutorial section (search for threads by my relating to the radiator). I'm getting the distinct feeling I will be removing the dumps this weekend though . I'm also beginning to think I should get the maifold -> head gaskets/studs/nuts too and just do the whole lot in one go LW.
  10. Had a really good listen when I got the car out this morning. Unfortunately I didn't have anyone to help me rev the engine. Even at idle, there is a slight "tut-tut-tut" type noise coming from around the rear turbo. With the heatshield on its hard to see whether its the turbo to dump or manifold gasket, or the manifold to head gasket. I noticed a little oil nearish to the rear manifold -> head gasket, but I don't think its related. Sigh. I wish I knew which one it was as I don't want to pull it all apart these weekend only to have the wrong bits and then have to leave the car for nearly two weeks off the road Spoke to GCG and they have the turbo -> manifold gaskets for $15 ea, and associated studs + nuts for $5 (per nut + stud); they don't have the complete set. I have also spoken to Nissan, but waiting to hear back. Will post up the details when I get them. LW.
  11. Ok, Just spent far too much time in FAST... Does the turbo gasket kit include gaskets for both turbos (my guess is yes based on FAST)? Assuming it does, then I guess I need the following, correct? 18 x nuts (14423-P7600)? 4 x nuts (20602-41G00)? 8 x studs (14064-05U01)? 10 x studs (14414-17F00)? 4 x studs (14064-N4200)? 2 x gaskets (20692-P9000)? Did I miss anything? What's the rought cost for those studs/nuts? Edit: There are 5 studs + nuts per turbo for the turbo -> dump join, not four. Lucien.
  12. Is anyone aware of any aftermarket suppliers for the turbo->manifold and/or turbo->dump and/or dump->frontpipe and/or front-pipe->cat gaskets? Nissan is going to rape me.. A couple of people have mentioned GCG carry the Nissan (OEM I assume) gaskets, so I will call them first thing tomorrow and compare with Nissan's pricing. Sigh. Looks like I have just lost my weekend to boot
  13. Genuine Nissan = Genuinely stupidly expensive. Given I am looking at replacing the dump-to-front pipe gasket, surely there is a cheaper/better aftermarket solution. LW.
  14. My scratches are probably beyond just buffing. I will try and call the local glazier tomorrow and see what the can do. Will report back with details when I get them. LW.
  15. The noise in my car is getting worse. It does sound a little like a balloon being pinched, but I haven't heard of pipes collapsing on RB26s so I am guessing one of the gaskts/seals is busted. The question is: which one? Is there a good method for find leaks that someone car suggest? Edit: Also the noise goes away as the car gets warmer. I assume this is because the metal expands to (semi) close the leak. I recently drained the block of coolant which required removing the dump pipes. I had to use manifold gunk to reseal (in conjunction with the original gaskets) it as it was late on Sunday and I needed the car on the road. I guess that should be my first port of call although the sound seems to be more located to the left. Does anyone know where I can get the dump-to-front pipe gaskets? LW.
  16. I will run those past Troy and see what turns up. someonestolecc: Make sure you ask for Troy. Apparently they do COD; personally I just go and pick it up. Your best to do your research before hand and have part numbers handy as they are obviously not import specialist: they are just willing to help so cut them a little slack (B1) MR_fanny: I had a look at the Ryco part numbers and its not the same as the GTS-t. They run Z200/201/202 (or something) but the GT-R is listed as completely different. Sorry for not being specific, I CBF'ed finding the Ryco listing pkblade: Given the Ryco part numbers are different, are you sure about that? LW.
  17. Ok, Again apologies for the delay. My car is stored in a secure lockup a few minutes from my house and I don't drive it everyday. The boss kit packaging is in the lockup hence the delay. Anyhoo, I can confirm the ON-110 is the correct model: I bought mine from Autobarn Auburn ($119.00). According to the receipt, the description is: "* PE05868 BK190L BOSS KIT SUPER ON177" LW.
  18. Actually, I have found Troy @ Crows Nest Nissan very helpful in the past. They are obviously busy, but he seems to try and do his best. Someone must have ordered one lately..... hit me up with the part number LW.
  19. Interesting. I just spoke to Crows Nest Nissan to try and order the OEM fuel filter. The part number they have comes up as no longer being produced, and there is no updated number attached. Does anyone have the part number -- one they have actually used, not just ripped from FAST because Crows Nest Nissan is using FAST -- for the R32 GT-R fuel filter ? LW.
  20. I assume a glazier can do something to fix the glass. There is one quite close to me but I just haven't had time to investigate. I did a little research and the main methods seem to be a very lightly abrasive polishing (usually for smaller scratches), or some sort of filler that is used to fill the valleys of the scratch (for deeper scratches). The main thing is to get rid of the white colour that glass turns when scratched: at least if its clear the scratch is not so obvious. LW.
