  1. I wouldn't yank the 4WD fuse while the car is on personally: I have done this for other fuses while the car is on an noticed a nice big blue spark. Remember when you pull the 4WD fuse you also loose the ABS. LW.
  2. You could always get one of those HKS or Ms ATTESSA controllers and lock it in RWD. LW.
  3. Can you do C/F aircon vents? (not just slats or facia, but entire mechanism) Not to put a dampner on things, but I hope you guys realise that changing body panels will probably involve engineering your car if you care about the legalities... LW.
  4. Good luck with that 10-15 year old plastic doesn't take well to bending, that's if you have a screwdriver that's long enough and thin enough so that you can move the tabs without damaging the vent slats. If you planning to remove the dashboard at some stage, remove the vents then: its so much easier. Edit: The leather items probably perished during storage. Months in the direct air + water = not so good for leather. Lucien.
  5. Spotted a silver R32 2-door coupe (not sure what model) turning right on Parramatta Rd from Glebe Point Rd @ about 8:40-ish. Plates were APU-??? LW.
  6. Jax, Mate, your a champ: thanks for the time and effort. I think I have a weekend project Lucien.
  7. Man, that's a nice GT40 replica! Just kidding.. nice to see you finally got your GT-R Lucien.
  8. Chris: Yeah, he is the head installer in NSW for Brant. However, as Allan himself would admit, its far better to approach him through his own business rather than Brant (that's if you want a Brant installed: he does other installs too) as Brant push him to do jobs quickly, while he can take the time to do a better install if you do it privately through him. He took a good 3-odd hours installing the alarm in my system (without a break: I was watching him). I was very impressed with his attention to detail and his upfront manner. LW.
  9. Jax: Thanks for the replies. A few questions though * Does the system need to have the gas removed before the clutch assembly can be removed? I hope not as my system is full of gas * When you say to test the compressor, can you be a bit more explicit: do you mean test the air-con relay, or the magnetic clutch connector, or something else? * As I said in my post, I haven't been able to locate the magnetic clutch connector: any hints, tips or better yet, photos on where the hell the connector is? Can it be gotten too without removing items? Do I have to come from underneath the car, or can I get to it from up top? * If you have time to write a guide on disassembling the clutch, that would be ace Cheers, Lucien.
  10. proengines: Wow. Thanks for taking the time to post all of that. With any luck I will have a job in Canberra next year and I think I have found a place to spend some money One question: in regards to run in, what's your thoughts on the best method? Cheers, Lucien.
  11. I spotted A1V-O1L 4-door R32 in Norton St, Leichhardt. LW.
  12. Spotted A1V-01L 4-door R32 sedan trundling down Norton St. LW.
  13. 45 minutes sounds extremely quick. I assume the car was next to stock and he just loaded in a map for a similar car, then made minor modifications? I would be a little worried if it was a midly modified car... LW.

Its an issue with Systran, the translation engine used by Babelfish. I have the latest version of the standard alone 'premium' Systran, and its rubbish for Yahoo JP: its buggy, frequently crashes, and half the time can't translate the pages. I don't know what they changed since the previous version -- which worked perfectly with Yahoo JP -- but now both the stand alone and Babelfish versions are crap. I personally find Google the most useful. If you use Firefox, get the Translate extension, add it to your toolbar as a button (I sit it in between the URL and search areas) and simlpy click it to translate using Google (or click and select the language to use Babelfish). It also has some nice features like highlighting text, right clicking and having a translate option in the menu that appears. Edit: Translate extension homepage: http://www.ctomer.com/index.php?cat=3 LW.
  15. I am not including the oils for the transfer case, just the gearbox... LW.
  16. Do a search mate, there is plenty of info about the aircon diagnostics: in fact there is a whole section in the R32 workshop manual. The "big fuses" are called relays: again, the workshop manual shows you how to test that everything is AOK at the relay. Lucien.
  17. Allan Jong from Maxi Security is the man to speak to for an alarm install -- 0419 988 679. He comes to you and does top quality work. He is also Brant's head installer if that provides some indication of his expertise... Lucien.
  18. I just double checked, and the R32 GT-R workshop manual says you need 4.1l (for the R32 GT-R gearbox, obviously). Given that the R33 GTS-t gearbox is meant to be quite similar to the R32 GT-R box, I find it suprising that some of you guys have put so little oil in? LW.

Vijay, Yeah, I am aware of Slidewize but I don't like their fee structure: it seems uneccessarily complicated and is pricer than others. I have no problems navigating Yahoo JP auctions. The worrying thing is I am beginning to recognise some of the characters (like Nismo's for instance) without the help of translation Really miffed.. I missed one of two items I really want: a Fujitsubo SuperTi for R32 GT-R :) Got snapped up within 24 hours before I could organise anything. DOH. LW.
  20. Bazelinez: Assuming you have the LCD aircon panel, have you run the self-diagnosis tests? Also, have you checked all four fuses related to the aircon? Lucien.

Personally I just use the Translate extension for Firefox which automagically uses Goolge (Babelfish if you want). LW.
  22. Nobody has forgotten anything. The wharfies may have a bit of a go, but there is usually so little petrol in the cars that unless they make the effort to top it up, they can't get very far. The point is, why add yet one more variable -- one more opportunity for the thing to go bang -- because your a tight arse and won't spend $50 towing it? LW.
  23. No, the 4WD warning light stays off unless I pull the wires out of the relay Cheers, Lucien.
  24. Spotted RED-17D trying to parallel park outside Bar Italia in Norton Street LW.

Do any of you guys have access to containers (for shipping bulkier items)? Lucien.
