Forum Mailer Working

Likewise... I am addicted to the "subscribe to thread" feature: its how I keep track of all the threads I am interested in. No emails in the last few days LW. -

Is it lined/backed? Wonder if it fits an R32 GT-R... LW. -
Hi Chrisitian, Is the forum mailer working? I don't seem to be getting many notifications for the threads I am subscribed too....? Cheers, Lucien.

Bump. Anyone got a clue what the #2 fuse is for? Lucien.

Err... fuel consumption sucks on my extremely stock R32 GT-R. Obviously depends on how much of the loud pedal you use, but your consumption seems about right. LW.

I have this too! Go the stock cars. Mine was so soft that (since my aircon wasn't working) when I had the windows down I didn't hear it. I only noticed the door bell sound a few days ago: seems to kick in at almost exactly 108KM/H. I'm leaving mine in for now as, since I am on Green Ps (stupid NSW) with a 100KM/H limit, its quite handy There is a description of how to kill it in "The Sky is the Limit" book. Lucien.

Hi Steve, Yeah, but the description sucks I found some helpful stuff on the Hong Kong Skyline club: apparently PBR stands for Potention Balance Resistor, and is part of the cooling coil in the mode door motor, which is attached to the heater. http://www.hkskylineclub.com/new/forum_pos...sp?TID=310&PN=1 Now I just have to work out what the other two missing fuses are for: #2 (ignition "Electronic Parts") and #3 ("Transmission Control" -- given its a manual this obviously isn't an issue). Anyone have a clue what the #2 fuse actually does (on a R32 GT-R)? Can't find any info and I haven't noticed any obvious things not working in the car. predator: Arr, that sucks. Those aircon assemblies can be quite expensive to buy LW.

Good news! It was just a busted fuse. Hopefully the fuse didn't blow recently I have cold air. Weeeeee! LW.

Hi All, Hoping a few aircon gurus are floating around. I finally got around to have my aircon converted to 134a. The system (ie compressor, etc) is fine -- no leaks or loss of compression -- but the system won't come on unless you muck around with the relays. The aircon guy had a fiddle but couldn't get it to "go" (without playing with the relays). Basically something between the control panel and the relays doesn't seem to be working. When I got home I went through the diagnostic mode and got a "25" and "-26" error. According to the workshop manual that means there is an error with the sunlight sensor (25) and a shorted PBR sensor (26). I'm guessing the problem with the sunlight sensor was that it was being blocked, so I am not overly concered about that. The PBR sensor is more of a worry because the system is reporting that its shorted. First off, can someone explain WTF the PBR sensor is and what it does? Secondly, whats the go with fixing a shorted sensor? Finally, is a shorted PBR likely to be why the aircon won't come on unless manually started via the relays? Cheers, Lucien.

I think you need to decide what your after. When (ha... IF) I can ever afford a PFC and tune, I won't be going to Croydon. For a street driven, stock to reasonably modified car, I think your probably just wasting your money: I would check out HITMAN and Dyno Dave first. Both have plenty of experience (AFAIK, HITMAN has less experience with PFCs, but has been tuning for ages) and there are lots of "success stories". If it was a race car or an extremely modified road car, then I think spending a couple of hundred extra is probably worth it. LW.

Hi All, Finally got around to getting my aircon converted to R134a. Good news is the conversion went A-OK, the compressor is fine, and the system isn't leaking. Bad news is that its not automatically switching on. The guy who did the conversion said he could manually force it on (hence he knows it works), but for whatever reason the car wasn't doing it automatically -- he said it was a "high side electrical problem". What is it with these cars? You fix one thing, and then something else breaks?! So, does anyone know a good sparkie they can recommend, preferably in the inner west (but I am guessing that is unlikely: have car, will travel)? Edit: I am tempted to dump it at the local auto-elec and give them a copy of relevant section from the workshop manual, but I guess I would rather someone with some experience with Skylines. Cheers, Lucien.

Wow, that NSX is tough (except for the cliched scissor doors), though I don't know how the driver can see the road with all those screens inside!

Car looked (and sounded) tough -- I like LW.

importing car from states/japan
lwells replied to always_me's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
The same rules apply to Ferrari's as to any other car. If its pre-1989, you can use the old system (ie. it only needs to meet the basic ADR requirements), but if its newer, it has to come in under SEVS (with all that entails: can't have been sold here, must be stock, etc). More generally, be aware that those "bargin" Ferrari's may quickly become less of a bargain if they require LHD --> RHD conversion. To get it done professionally (and properly) costs an absolute mint given the rarety of the cars involved, and the fact that its a Ferrari (and Ferrari mechanics/engineers aren't exactly in abundance). Hasn't anybody tried this....?
