Prestige gave me a receipt the day I bought the car (in electronic form), so I just printed off a copy. My only issue was, as I said, that I had a faxed copy of the Import Approval: the RTA insisted on the original. I had to ring DOTARS, who were incredibly unhelpful at first -- "no the supervisor isn't in" -- but with some prodding -- "hang on, I will give you my supervisor's extension" (two seconds later) -- rang the RTA directly to let them know that import approval had been granted. cams/cam gears help please
lwells replied to fatz's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
From reading SydneyKid's posts about Tomei Poncams, that's my understanding too. RB25DET Poncams are usually spot on, whereas RB26 Poncams definately require adjustment. IIRC SydneyKid recommends camgears for both regardless (because no two engines are alike). LW. -
You only need the paperwork unless the RTA requests that you take it over the pits. Usually that only happens with cars imported under SEVS. Mark: tsk tsk. Someone didn't read my importation thread I had exactly the same issue -- well, in my case I didn't have the import approval original -- ended up getting DOTARS to ring the RTA and the problem magically disappeared. If this is addressed to me, my point was not that parliament is required, but that Ministers will actually have to be "at work" as of next week: most are still currently on holidays. Well, I hope you planning to spend multiple years there, because AFAIK your only allowed to bring in one vehicle (at a time), and you have to show ownership and use for 12 months. Edit: Combined posts. LW.

Cmon, help a brother out here. Anything that will help me to procrastinate and not do reading for my honours thesis has to be good BTW, if you need a nice and easy photo organising tool (with some basic manipulation features), check out Picasa2: http://www.picasa.com/ LW. -

Any more....? LW. -
You do get a little bit of slap with forged pistons, but I would seriously reconsider given the amoun tof money you are spending. It will cost you a fortune to rip the engine down to install forgies later when you eventually find you want more power. Maybe some with forgies could show you what they are like on startup? LW.

TommyK: Could you post up some pics of your 28 per cent tint (or PM me if you don't want to clag the thread)? LW.

Do NOT get a brass button clutch. I don't understand why people think these are good for the street: it is not their intended purpose. If you try and drive it like a normal clutch (slip it) you will wear it out in no time at all. Besides which you are hardly pushing the power envelope. LW.

Roy: I completely agree. I think you have misunderstood the point I was making. There is no doubt that Racepace does excellent work, and they charge fairly for the level of attention to detail they put in to rebuilds, but its still a lot of money. If one has the time, inclination, a little bit of mechanical knowledge and the right tools, you can save yourself a lot of money which can then be spent of further modifications. My post was not meant to disparrage Racepace, rather to present a cost saving alternative to the thread starter given that so much of the cost is labour. LW.

The Impul looks very tasty. The Ken Style rear looks a little too much like a F360 ripoff to me: http://www.kenstyle.co.jp/03_PRODUCTS/AERO...NE/SKYLINE.html LW.

Anyone test drove the new skyline?

In a straight line... how bout them corners though LW. -
what is the weight of R32 & R33 GTR
lwells replied to Zathris's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
The weight difference between the GT-R R32 and R33 is negligible (as opposed to the differences in the GTS-t model), and should not be a deciding factor in which car you buy IMHO. Take both for a drive, consider their age, condition, and your finances, and then decide LW. -
In which case your getting 2.8Ron increase, not 4? LW.
-
My thoughts is that it sounds like an awful lot of money. No doubt Racepace does excellent work, but I would consider doing some of the work yourself (if you have the ability and tools). LW.

You realise that every octane point that a booster adds is only 0.1 octane, right? So if you have 98 octane fuel, use a booster that adds 4 octane points, you have 98.4 octane fuel, not 102 octane. LW.

Poll: Which number plate "NUR" or NURN.1"?
lwells replied to meshmesh's topic in General Automotive Discussion
The car would have to go through the same system as the Nismo Z-tune. Either buy it here (expensive), or buy it in Japan, ship it here and comply, export it to Japan to send to Mines, import it back in the country. God only knows how much duty you would have to pay to do that. Better to just buy a complete engine package from Mines (inc. all the other nice bits) and fit them here. Fly over their tuner when its all fitted, and your bonza. LW.
