  1. Was the damage during shipping? I was under the impression it was at Hobbs bond storage? Or did Kiwi organise the storage too? LW.
  2. Here is a list of the charges from CGL: $4275.91 -- Customs Duty / GST $123.50 -- Quarantine Permit $1052.85 -- Overseas Air/Sea Freight $92.73 -- Port Service Charge $150.00 -- Air Conditioning/Compliance $35.00 -- Shipping Dock Fee $50.00 -- Delivery Order Fee $150.00 -- Agency Fee $25.00 -- Customs Entry $45.00 -- Quarantine Attendance $45.00 -- Customs Attendance $55.00 -- Customs Examination $55.00 -- Quarantine Examination $88.00 -- Quarantine Re-examination If you don't use a customs agent you do have to personally attend. However, if you use a customs agent, you don't. I have no idea whether they actually attend, though I very much doubt it. My thoughts? Hmmm. Much the same as before. If you don't have a couple of days off, and you don't mind being fleeced for ~$500, then use the broker. You will probably get your car released faster with a customs agent too (since the likelihood of mistakes is smaller). For me it made sense: I was very busy at the time. If you have the time, don't mind running around and want to save some cash, I would try it myself. LW. Edit: A few other points. The list above doesn't include the Hobbs charge (~$210 from memory). My biggest compliant about CGL was Colins complete and utter lack of communication skills. He would often completely disregard my questions via email, forcing me to re-ask them four or five times. He didn't bother to tell me that I had to pickup the documents from him which cost me ~$70 is emergency courier fees. He didn't bother to inform me that steaming cleaning hadn't been arranged. His excuse was 'as per our previous conversation on this matter' which, of course, never occurred.
  3. Mark, Actually, it goes more like this if you are using a customs agent (edit: this is how it works at the Glebe Island docks in Sydney): CA starts paperwork and car is entered for customs clearance => clearance done => car arrives => AQIS inspects (inevitably knocks back car) => the car is released to you => you drive/tow the car to the cleaner => cleaner does a token spray and steam clean, pay exorbitant fee => AQIS re-inspects, says good to go => you now have the car and need to get it either home or to compliance workshop. AFAIK, most of the 'paperwork' is all electronic. Nobody actually attends anything, except for the AQIS people. I was billed for all the customs and AQIS stuff (including re-inspections) before the car actually arrived. You should be entitled to inspect the car when it lands, however I was not able to do that as CGL basically couldn't be stuffed organising it. Would never use them again (although I doubt others are much better). The one chance you have is the bit I put in bold: the car will be released to you to deliver to Hobbs for steam cleaning. If you have anything loose in the car -- paperwork, parts, whatever -- this is your chance to grab it before someone else does. Lucien.
  4. I replied to your email mate. LW.
  5. Hey Pete, Is there a model number / website / pictures etc so people can get some further details? Cheers Lucien.
  6. I have already PM'ed WRXHOON in the past. My concern with self-monitored tracking units is that if ones phone is off, on silent, out of battery, or out of range, then its of little use. The alternative -- monitored systems -- are quite expensive. The unit WRXHOON (or rather his friend/son/whatever) installs is the EzyTrack unit also used by Sattrak. LW.
  7. I know, but some people were concerned about giving out their details: I don't think they wanted sheets of paper with their account and address details blowing around down at the local recycling centre LW.
  8. Hi All, Just so you know, I shredded my print outs last week and used Norton Wipe Info (on the government-strength setting) to delete my word document with account details. LW.
  9. Theft in Japan has historically been incredably low. I don't have my heart set on Brant at all. I am just totally confused. CK: Quiktrak has had financial problems, but more importantly, their radio-style of tracking is flawed. Sattrak (thats a company ) is a better option as they use a combination of GSM and GPS tracking. Brant offers their own tracking module too, for about $2000 on top of the cost of an alarm LW.
  10. No idea. Try giving Crows Nest Nissan a call. Everyone should be a club member LW.
  11. Until he has 300+kw, a new FMIC is a waste of money (unless there is something wrong with the current one). LW.
  12. Are these a particular brand? What are they made of? LW.
  13. Its a downgrade. Strip your stock intercooler of any paint or crud (there is a couple of threads about this) then either get it chromed (bad idea IMHO) or get it anodised. LW.
  14. Its this I believe: Its a standard price for an SAU NSW Club member, such just give Troy a buzz. Alternatively, wait a few days till I get mine and I can say if its the same thing as in the above pic LW.
  15. Arrr... but the real question is: how were the brakes? LW.
  16. I want to know too. Is the R33 GT-R on the way out? LW.
  17. Al: I am probably in. Just waiting on an email back from Maltech confirming when I can pay by. Cheers, Lucien.
  18. What do you mean? There is a seal that runs around the inside of the door area on the chassis: up the B-pillar, across the top, then down the a-pillar. Its 76921R in the diagram.
  19. You will notice they will probably charge Customs + AQIS attendence and re-attendance before the bloody thing even arrives. Quite how that works I have NFI. LW.
  20. I am finally getting around to this (NRMA has been extremely slow to send out a policy so I haven't bothered till now as the covering note holds for another three months ). I spoke to Allan Jong who seems like a very pleasant guy. I was expecting he would recommend a Flashpoint but in fact he was of the opinion that the Brant is better for a GT-R given its reputation with insurers. Brant has yet another special on. Do two cars and get $200 off each install. Hmm. Now to do some calling about tracking units. LW.
  21. Gawd I hate you! :uzi: Sounds like the perfect Christmas/New Years/etc to me! LW.
  22. Very cool that Mazda is prepared to profile a car like that on its website... LW.
  23. Hi Guys, I finally got a chance to check some pricing. Here goes: Front Windscreen Outer Moulding (Kit): Part Code: 72810 Part Number: 72750-04U10 or 72750-04U60 (one is superceeded): Price: ~$175 (SAU NSW Club Members ONLY) Rear Windscreen Outer Moulding (Kit): Part Code: 79810 Part Number: 79750-04U10: Price: ~$461 (SAU NSW Club Members ONLY) Door Seal (Driver's Side; on chassis not door): Part Code: 76921R Part Number: 76921-04U00: Price: ~$41 (SAU NSW Club Members ONLY) I am waiting for Troy @ Crows Nest Nissan to confirm availability and the prices listed. He has been very helpful, so big thumbs up for him. I must say the front windscreen moulding and door seal seem very reasonable (well, considering its through Nissan Aus), but that rear windscreen moulding seems ridiculously expensive: is Nissan making them out of gold or something? A few other notes: I imagine the price for a passanger side seal is the same, though I didn't check. To be clear, this is the seal that sits on the chassis, and runs around where the door and window meet the chassis, as opposed to the seal that sits on the door. Hope that's of some help to people. Lucien.
  24. The words "that's tight" spring to mind It will be interesting to see what Mazda does with the RX-7 ... LW.
