PowerFC ECUs w/ Hand Controllers (NEW & under $1000!)
lwells replied to lwells's topic in Group Buys
Ok, I have gone through all the PMs and emails I recieved (and replied where necessary). Of the people who originally expressed interest it currently stands as : (REMOVED -- PLEASE SEE THE LIST IN THE FIRST POST) Now, a couple of the people in the unconfirmed list told me they would be out of contact, so that's not a major concern: I still fully expect 20+ confirmed buyers. Please read this carefully: If you are in the unconfirmed list, and should be confirmed, PM me. If you are in the confirmed list, please check the model number is right (this is crucial!). Finally, if you are unconfirmed and not interested in proceeding, can you please do me the courtesy of letting me know so I can scrub you off: there is no shame, so please let me know. If you not on either list, don't fret: I will now go through the new replies and requests to be added. Expect to be contacted shortly. Regarding those asking me to ask for a better price: I am waiting to see the confirmed numbers. Even if there are 30 confirmed, I would be suprised if the price drops. Why? Because you are getting atleast 10% off (depending on model) what is already the lowest price in the market. Again, if I can go to Brent with a huge number more, he may be able to do better, just don't hold your breath. Lucien. -

Hi All, Just this second got home. The net was too slow when I was away, so I will answer all your PMs and questions tonight (just need some time to unwind and eat). Lucien. -
PowerFC ECUs w/ Hand Controllers (NEW & under $1000!)
lwells replied to lwells's topic in Group Buys
I have just sent out a PM (or via email where requested) to all those who have expressed interest: if you have not recieved it, please let me know I am going to hit the sack: I got no sleep last night finishing an essay, so I am utterly exhausted. I will also be away this weekend, but I will try and keep in contact (I will be stuck on a 28.8 dialup and ancient computer, so no promises of instant responses till I get home on Sunday night). r32 AP engineering PowerFC & Hand Controllers
lwells replied to yogi000's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
That's also confirmed by the AP Engineering website: http://www.ap-engineering.co.jp/el/p_fc.htm LW. -
SAFC = Super Air Flow Converter. Benefit of a catch can is that it 'catches' oil/gas blowby, at least in theory: if is a decent catch can it will have some sort of baffle that will seperate the oil/crud from the air. This stops the oil/crud from recirculating back through your engine. LW.

Dammit, can't quite find the image. Oh well, close enough: LW.

No, R32 GTS-t units are made by AP Engineering and thus cannot be part of this group buy. Sorry Lucien. -
Wheel offsets for Dummies ??? Help Please??
lwells replied to B-Man's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Wheel offset will also affect your track width I believe. That's rather important in some states as you are only allowed a certain increase/decrease in width. Or am I just wrong and muddying the waters? Lucien. -

4R33L: Added. (Would you mind editing you post to remove the huge quote -- it will just cause confusion). tbeffect: Added. Trust me, as a poor uni student I know every dollar counts so I will do my best. However it will likely come down to just how many people end up paying (I'm hope everyone, but I am also realistic) Lucien. -

PowerFC ECUs w/ Hand Controllers (NEW & under $1000!)
lwells replied to lwells's topic in Group Buys
The same basic theory applies. A PowerFC will basically enable you to make the most of any modifications you make to your car and even on fairly stock cars it allows you much finer tuning possibilities such as achieving ~12:1 air/fuel ratios which will likely net you both fuel and power gains. The more your modify, the more useful the PFC gets, so in that sense its 'future-proof'. I am not trying to convince you or anyone else to purchase: that's entirely up to you. If you do some searching there should be ample threads to help you makeup your mind Lucien. -

13_devil: no problems matey. Suspension is much more important. [[d a n n y]]: Unless its significantly bigger, I doubt it. There is only so much margin that can be taken off these items. Anyway, I have emailed Brent. I will let everyone know how it goes. Lucien. -
PowerFC ECUs w/ Hand Controllers (NEW & under $1000!)
lwells replied to lwells's topic in Group Buys
Predator: as I said in answer to the same question earlier, its about $100 cheaper than normal for an R33 GTS-t unit by the time you add shipping and use the correct exchange rate. As you mentioned, its cheaper again for other models. Yes it includes handcontroller and shipping. No offence, but its not my job to convince you I didn't add the R32 GTS-t guys to the list if you check the first post. 2GU UP 2: It should be ok if its one of these..?: IMPREZIA GC8/GF8 A-C 92/11-96/8 EJ20G PFC 414-F001 H/C 415-X001 IMPREZIA GC8/GF8 D-E 96/9-98/8 EJ20G PFC 414-F005 H/C 415-X001 IMPREZIA GC8/GF8 F-G 98/9-00/7 EJ20G PFC 414-F003 H/C 415-X001 babs: added, and I will keep in touch via SMS or phone. As for increasing the size of the group buy, lets just be happy if we get 20 people to pay and worry about extras later I will now contact Brent to let him know we have the numbers and get some details as to where we go now Lucien. -
I see you have done the normal induction and exhaust mods, so adding a FMIC would be a good idea. However as fane said you then have the problem of tuning: S1 R33 GTS-ts are also notorious for having shocking fuel economy if the standard ECU is left in place (ie. no PFC or SAFC) once you do intake + exhaust + FMIC. Bit of a catch-22. Maybe try the FMIC first, then save for the PFC. Or do it the other way round.. doesn't really matter in the end Lucien.

I agree with Funkey: every body loves these things until they hear the price LW.

13_devil: don't worry, nothing is going to be set in stone before later tonight. Just post up with a yes or no when you know. Lucien. -
Problem is that's a very circular arguement. People dispute the figure because they don't understand how it was achieved and when they ask for details you say you can't or won't reveal the methodology. People thus continue to dispute the claim, and around we go again. Can you not give an general information about the methodology? I don't think people are looking for blueprints or diagrams, but enough to try and understand how it was achieved. Not having a dig -- I am genuinely interested in how you did it -- just explain it from the 'othersides' point of view. Lucien.

My understanding is that the benefits of the Tomei kit are essentially that it requires minimum modification and disables any HICAS warnings. By contrast, a manual removal is somewhat more involved but you get the benefit of weight reductions. You will still get the HICAS error light though Oh, and I wouldn't be suprised if the R32 and R33 Tomei kits are different since HICAS is hydraulic on the R32 and electronic on the R33. The other option is to try and source a complete subframe without HICAS. Apparently they exist, but I have never heard of anyone installing on in a GT-R. B-man: what are you driving impressions? Lucien.
