  1. I think its arguably the most disgusting Silvia I have ever seen. Having said that, you obviously like the looks, and that's what matters. As a first car though, I think its a mistake. Its obviously an attention getter, and is just asking for someone to either steal it, break into it, key it, or otherwise damage it. You will need comprehensive insurance, and I would think it might be difficult to insure with all the custom work. LW.
  2. GPS or GSM tracking is generally thought of as superior to Quiktrak's radio system, if your looking to have a tracking unit installed. There was an article in the Sydney Morning Herald Drive section within the last few months. I can't quite remember, but I think Skyline GT-Rs had the third highest risk profile (not to be confused with actual numbers stolen). LW.
  3. mmmgtir: Yeah, I know RoRo = Roll on Roll off, but I couldn't remember the name of the company/ship that other who have used Prestige and shipped to Sydney have had. Re: insurance, do you mean on-the-road insurance, or shipping insurance? I am keeping a running total of costs in my Overclockers Australia thread. Lucien.
  4. At this stage, I am not sure exactly which company the car is booked to ship with: I imagine its whoever Prestige normally uses (RoRo?). The car will be shipping to Sydney (Glebe Island I imagine). Using Control Global Logistics after recommendations from other SAU'ers. Lucien.
  5. For a substantial cost. Isn't it something rediculous like $100+ a day? LW
  6. That's my predicament. Exemption it is my thinks. Just interested to see how others are dealing with this issue. LW.
  7. Personally I prefer the S1 spoiler on a stock R33 GTS-t, unless the car has a suitable front bar, then a S2 can work well. I don't like the R33 GT-R spoiler at all (although I realise I am probably in the minority) Have you thought of maybe have no spoiler? If you want to get rid of the "fin" look, you can get a small spoiler, or one of those URAS-type spoilers that makes the boot completely flat. Looks schmick on GTS-t's IMHO. LW.
  8. Congrats. So have you got the Super Dark PranK Tint lined up already? LW.
  9. Big thumbs down. Mesh looks horrible, bar looks like it belongs to an entirely different car (the bar is all angles, the car is all curves and smooth surfaces). Either ditch the bar, or make some changes to the rest of the car so the bar looks like it belongs. At least that's what I would do LW.
  10. Both J-Spec and Prestige fill the majority of their email list with cars from Yahoo. We can all thank Mr Monkeh for finally getting the pop-up pictures on j-spec working with browsers other than IE. :grouphug: LW.
  11. I voted silver because its not really silver, is a darker shade (more like grey) which I think looks really nice against the white. White on white looks great on some cars (R32 GT-Rs, for instance) but I don't think it suits the R33 GTS-t. LW.
  12. I know your taking the piss, but being serious for a moment, I think there is definately room in the Sydney market for another straight foward, no BS importer. LW.
  13. You will pick the blue one......mind tricks> LW.
  14. There were very few changes of any sort across the R32 GT-R's lifespan. Those that come to mind are: * The V-spec and V-spec II models: Brembos, different wheels. * A change from push to pull clutch (or is it the other way, I can never remember). * Some people claim a change in the interior trim: I have never seen concrete proof of this. I'm sure there were a few others: do a search as it has been discussed before. So really, apart from the condition element, I don't see a particularly good reason to spend the additional money and hassle associated with a R32 GT-R under SEVS. LW.
  15. I posted this in another thread about Sydney dealers, but I suggest you stay away from most of the dealers along Paramatta Rd (there is a bunch of them.. I think the suburb is Concord). I spent some time at a number of dealers looking at cars and almost without exception they were unhelpful, rude, and in one case wouldn't even let you test drive a car until you agreed to buy it (most would just flatly refuse). LW.
  16. Just two point to add to what Blitz has said 1) It depends which year and month the car you wish to import was made. The car has to be 15 years old, to the month. In my case, the car was made in September 1989, so I had to wait until Sept. 2004 before I could even lodge my application for import approval. 2) There is now an air-con exemption that you can apply for if the car is for private use, so you don't have to get it degassed in Japan. LW.
  17. In March mate, so after about 5 months of having to wait its nice to see things moving Exciting? Not really (maybe when it actually lands) as there is just too many hoops to jump through yet and I have had lot of frustrations lately (namely trying to get my TE37s delivered to the car for installation prior to shipping) which as sort of taken the pleasure out of things. Still, progress is so much better than just waiting for the days to roll by due to stupid import laws PS. Spoke to Nathan yesterday. Seems like a good bloke; will definately use them for compliance I think, so thanks for the recommendation. Lucien.
  18. sewid: I am aware that $150 doesn't cover them actually doing anything, its just their 'engagement fee' so to speak. Still, I think having them pushing all the paper saves enough of my time to make it worth while. Edit: I assume you are referring to where I say: I think you misinterpreted (or I was not clear). I didn't mean that paying $150 makes all the other charges magically disappear LW.
  19. If you want to build it up here, which is what I want to do, so you know exactly what is done to, expect to pay a premium: grade 4 (or equivalent) stock cars tend to cost more than mildly modded cars. I know, because its what I did -- or more correctly, am in the process of doing. You can read about my experiences here (you will need to signup, but its very quick/easy). Lucien.
  20. Definately outside -- space is expensive enough in Japan Same thought had crossed my mind Out of interest, are most people getting their cars degassed prior to shipping or taking advantage of the new exemption scheme? LW.
  21. I still don't see how the photocopy of one's ID can be authorised if its faxed, unless the authorisation is written on the front  Typical government department LW.
  22. Certianly does make sense, thanks SK. Might have to look into the economics of it a bit more. Lucien.
  23. Hmm.. I think if you put on the GT-R front, it would be nice and tough (the GTS-t front is a little plain IMHO). LW.
  24. Well American cars have always had problems with corners.... LW.
