  1. Well, if I hear nothing from DOTARS before the ship leaves I will harass them to find out why. If it can't be fixed quickly, then the car will leave on a later ship. LW.
  2. That's some fine crack your smoking Mr Munkah LW.
  3. That desperately needs bigger wheels. What's the point of widening the arches but having puny rims? LW.
  4. If this includes me.. Import approval turn around times, according to Geoff (when I spoke to him three days before submitting my application), are reasonably quick at the moment. Hence he provisionally booked the car on a ship. Given that it takes a good two weeks to ship anyway, and the import approval only needs to be available when the car lands, thats a minimum of 6 weeks time for DOTARS to cough up the papers. Given that, its highly unlikely they won't be available by then. LW.
  5. And then the fun really begins My car has provisionally been booked on a ship leaving in what was 4-6 weeks (so I guess 3-5 now). LW.
  6. In the last group buy, items were sent out by Registered Post. Technically you are required to sign for Registered Post items on delivery, or they leave a card and you can collect the item from the Post Office (with appropriate ID). Of course because most delivery is now outsourced to contractors, and they don't give a sh!t, often its just left without a signature. Of course Dave may not have used Registered Post for this lot (I didn't buy anything this time, so I have no idea). LW.
  7. LOL. Duncan: yes, I have heard those dock fees aren't cheap either. LW.
  8. I would imagine that's only if they already have an authorised photocopy of some form of ID, but check the form (I only have the electronic version) and perhaps call DOTARS? LW.
  9. zymotic: How did things pan out? I notice you have the car listed for sale ..? LW.
  10. How are you going to fax through the authorised copy of your ID (eg. license, passport)? For it to be authorised, the signature and details of the person (JP, lawyer, etc) must be on the back of the photocopy... Unless of course you have imported before and they already have an authorised copy of some form of ID? LW.
  11. I haven't come across too many hidden charges yet: I have to say Prestige has been pretty upfont about the costs. The only thing that grates so far is $50 for the DOTARS Import Approval as its an obvious gouge. LW.
  12. If you have deep pockets, also check out the Prodrive GC-07s: http://www.wheelspecs.com/specs/wheelmodels/477 LW.
  13. Interesting. Perhaps the 5000's are just overkill then. LW.
  14. Check. Luckily I am using a customs agent, so hoping most of this hassle is up to them. Check. Bastards. Check: $5k and counting. Check: R34 N1 Turbos, PowerFC, RB30DETT conversion..... *sigh* Check (although I do this anyway ). Purchased my GT-R 4/03/2004. Import approval form sent in last week :headspin: LW.
  15. Does anyone know what the price differential between DBA 4000s and 5000s are? LW.
  16. More like "oh ****, the tires are bald, the clutch is shagged, the battery is flat, all lubricants need replacing, etc, etc, etc". Remind me: why do we go through this pain again? LW.
  17. Apparently opting to pay by Credit Card makes a big difference (1-2 weeks!), so that definately the way to go if you can. It seems that any problem at all basically throws your application to the back of the queue, so make sure you have ticked every (necessary box), dotted your i's and crossed your t's LW.
  18. They look great on the old school C10, 210 and AE86. On the R32 though? Ekk. LW.
  19. Its says his location is Canada, not the US. Assuming that's correct, Canada doesn't have a car industry to protect (unlike the US) so it might have OK import laws. Best bet is to contact your local automotive authority and ask for advice about importing a car. LW.
  20. Try and think of it in a more positive light: at least with your application lodged, if DOTARS suddenly changes the rules, you will only be subject to the rules as they currently stand LW.
  21. Just to add to that, you can check out their respective available stock at: http://www.powerplayimports.com/index.php?page=cars http://www.nismo.com.au/ I would avoid most of the dealers on Parramatta Road... Lucien.
  22. Viagra can help. (Sorry, all this talk of knobs..) LW.
  23. Does anyone have photos of Cefiros with other fronts? In my opinion, the front of the Cefiro is ugly (but I also hate the S13s front too)... LW.
  24. According to Geoff, they have only started asking in the last 2-3 months. LW
  25. Sent mine in on August 31st, arrived September 1: Fingers crossed it gets processed quickly. Thankfully I contacted my agent (Prestige) a few days before sending and he advised me that DOTARS had started asking for de-registration papers (or similar proof) and quickly gave me a copy of them to include LW.
