  1. Thanks guys. Did some research and found that most people can get between 250-350 hp at the wheels but I'm more concerned about how long it will last, i'd like to have it running for more than a week before it decides to spit a piston or something just see what happens I guess!
  2. Thanks everyone! I unplugged each coil pack one by one and found that the last one which sits directly underneath the ignitor pack is the one thats causing me grief! Ran out of time to check exactly what the problem is tho so will have to wait until weekend for that. Will try swapping the coil packs around and will check the spark plugs. Bloody subarus!!
  3. Also thought I would mention as it has happened since this, but it probably not related. Sometimes when I turn the key to start it, everything dies and I have to adjust battery terminals to get it to start.
  4. Hi, About a week ago my RB20DE starting idling really bad and sounded like it was going to die at every set of lights. It sounds like a subaru when driving, a rotary when idling and shakes like hell!!! At first I thought it was just air flow but now i think i've lost a cylinder or two. I don't think it is any of my coil packs either as I had a faulty one which I replaced a while back and all others were fine then and also cos sometimes it runs fine (when cold) for a while before it starts shaking and spluttering its ass off. Has anyone had a similar problem and found an easy fix? I am rebuilding a 20det for it at the moment so want to put all my money towards that instead of having to fix this one!!! Thanks in advance!
  5. My friends building me a RB20det and i am wondering what is needed to get 400hp out of it (if thats even possible!). He reckons he can get at least 400hp with full factory internals and says forged pistons are a waste of time and dont do anything. Specs of motor so far: WIll be running - T3T4 garrett turbo - Chipped computer - Top mount manifold - 32mm wastegate w/ 18 pound spring - Front facing plenum - Front mount Wanting to know if i need forgies or not and also any examples of other high hp 20det builds Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!
  6. Hey I have a 20de and it has been making strange noises lately.. There is a ticking noise coming from inside the engine, I imagine its a stuffed lifter.. Sounds like the fan is hitting somthing (its not). Iv done some research and have found some possible things it might be. Most common one is big end bearing, i hope its not! Some say could be knock sensor (as I also have a slight problem with idle, revs etc) There are also people saying to check for an airleak behind AFM but i dont see how that would be causing a ticking. I did an oil change on it 5 days ago and it was soon after that, that it started. Could it simply be not enough oil?? Please help! Thanks!!!
  7. My car used to idle too high so I had that fixed so it would idle where it is supposed to but know if you are waiting at lights for too long the revs start to drop and then it dies.... The idle sensor has been adjusted a million times and still didnt work so I have a new one in it and thats still not working. Its starting to get really annoying. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on what it could be?
  8. thanks heaps and yes my trans cooler tank is part of my radiator. Found the problem and was in the most stupidest place that i would have never found in a million years... Car has been running perfectly for more than 2 days now, thats a record!!
  9. Recently my radiator decided its going to leak trans fluid so i replaced it, started her up and its leaking from the exact same place as my old one....... I think its a bit strange that the radiator i got to replace it would do the same thing as my other one so im beginning to think its not the radiator that is causing this to happen. Any ideas??
  10. I have a Rb20de auto skyline. Im not sure if it needs to be tuned or if my trans is screwed, as the car can drive but it isnt driving properly. When i accelerate the revs go up slowly to about 3-3.5 then they shoot up to about 5 and then the car starts to move faster. It also doesnt change gears until about 40kmph.

Recently i took of radiator to get to cam belt and the top part of radiator that hose connects to snapped off.....it is all rusted and managed to pull a big chunk out but couldnt get all of it out. I have replaced radiator but now i am worried about the bits of rusted radiator that could be going thru my water system. What can i do to clean this out?? Is there some sort of chemical i can flush thru it?
