Just took it for a quick boot on low setting. Runs around 9psi till 4.5k and increases to 10.8 or thereabouts after. Its like what it used to do with the factory setup? Is this possible with an EBC? I think these installers are smoking crack...

Yeah ive left it on the low setting which is 9psi. im over it. Ill get a pfc this week. expensive little bastard but this whole episode shits me royally. I hope it sorts in out...

I didnt notice the engine light. I generally notice and hear every noise and rattle. i dont think ive ever revved it to the limiter. it revved to nearly 7 on the dyno but i didnt hear a limiter. The rattle noise also appeared a little lower in the revs around 4-5 k... It shows on dyno sheet AFR running down to mid 10's which is apparently rich as hell. my piss weak understanding tells me it shouldnt knock if thats the case? One thing is certain on high mode last night it spikes up to atleast 13 or more. On the low setting it doesnt spike at all. After reading the EBC manual i think i can adjust this with gate pressure etc so it doesnt come on boost as quick etc?? Ill pay anyone who is genuinly capable in there trade and has a good knowledge of skylines. Im tired of pretenders, as this EBC wasnt cheap including the dyno run/tune which was useless as tits on a bull.... what good is 200 ATW if you cant use it safely

ive never heard pinging before. it was an obvious metallic rattling at revs under load. But the AFR's showed at high revs around 10.5 : 1. Its got me f**ked i just dont understand it enough to get my head around whats happening.

dead set spewing about it. Anyone in sydney i could take it to who are reliable and trustworthy, I just want it back the way it was and the CAS or whatever readjusted etc etc.

Standard ecu. I wouldnt have a clue as to what you would do if you were adjusting timing (im mechanically impaired). I heard him mumble it, open the bonnet and adjust something at the front of the motor?

Finally results are in. She punched out 200.2 ATW on 12 psi (although spiking to 12.8) Not bad. But useless. As soon as i took it out on the street off the dyno and gave it some... Rattling noise. Ping im sure. The 'tuner' was with me at the time, and looked concerned when i stated hey its f**king pinging hard.. he wound back the boost a little and f**ked with the timing. Still did it at around 11.8psi. He stated you need a decent intercooler... Drove it tonight briefly on the high setting and it didnt ping (very cold out tonight), but it comes on boost in an unstable manner. the dyno readout is pretty wobbly and has a dip higher in the revs. Ill post this when i can. Looks like shit to me. With the standard solenoid grounded permanently it pulled 182kW ATF 9psi and a nice flat curve.. With the Eboost on 12psi its wobbly and looks like shit. The boost controller is a new Turbosmart EBoost Street. Ive been reading the manuals and its states various options regarding gate pressure and sensitivity. Im sure these could be improved as it spikes considerably. I thought these f**king electronic things didnt spike once set properly. Seems i now have little to no faith in his abilities or advise so im forced to have it retuned by someone who is trustworthy because i cannot comfortably drive it again without freaking out. Its now set back to setting one with runs around 9psi. Can anyone please a reputable tuner in Sydney??? I dont care what it costs as long as they know skylines!!! Desperately need some decent advise i dunno who to listen to now This sucks as this car was absolutely perfect prior and its disappointing to be honest. Its impressed everyone whose worked on it... Im now contemplating ripping it all out and replacing it with the factory setup as before running high mode constantly... Atleast i could rev it and not worry about destroying the motor.... Surely i could run 10-11 psi with a r34 SMIC without troubles?? Current mods R34 SMIC 3 inch Nismo exhaust JJR Split Dump/Front K&N High Flow Panel Turbosmart EBoost Street.... Cheers, Matt

once the intercooler is heatseaked, this simply JUST reduces its output? No ill affects to components beyond that? Ill be running 12psi (switchable) by the end of today new eboost being installed and dynoed this arvo ), hopefully she'll hold up...

r34 SMIC is a straight fit so its a piece of piss to do. Good for 200KW ATW but constant runs see a drop in power. Heatsoak. I havent installed a FMIC for the same reason. That and id rather not hack the shit out of my car to make it fit...

HAha Yep though of that. they will be around for the dyno itself though and probably expect some sort of foul play.. so he'd have to sneaky about it.

I got a bet goin for what my r33 GTST will pull tomorrow on the dyno. 4 blokes in $100 bucks each. All shit box commodore heads who have no idea im hoping to take there money. and yes we bet on anything. Whoever comes in closest. R33 GTST Series 2 (65k on clock) 34SMIC K&N Hiflow Panel Nismo 3 inch & JJR Flow Split/Dump. There putting in a new Turbosmart E Boost controller at the time and gonna give it a run on 12PSI. It dynoed before any mods at all (stock exhaust the lot) 158kW ATW. Although this time its on a different dyno so im thinking i shouldnt judge from that?... Anyone care to give it a shot. Those in the know, what would ya go? (coz i got no real idea...) was thinkin around 175?

yeah i know and its a bloody good hack i must say. Certainly made a noticeable difference especially around town. Considering you have to be virtually full throttle passed 5k to even seen/feel the second stage, i rarely ever did. Simply concept too. I wired up a switch but ive left it on permanently. perhaps i shouldnt worry to much about the car holding up then. Ive got 70k and its seen no abuse from me or previous owner in Japan. Serviced every 5k or less etc etc. good to hear anyway.

You have had to PowerFC running things including boost since the beginning. maybe thats why its lasted?

Lads, Gonna grab a EBC this weekend. No idea what to buy to be honest. Happy to spend $500-700 bucks i guess but have no need for fancy f**kin screens and gizmos. I hear the dual solenoid EBC are the way to go. Why is that exactly? What is the advantage technically speaking over a single solenoid? Or a boost tee for that matter. Im not going to buy a Boost Tee thing as i hear they can spike fairly dramatically and i dont plan on replacing the turbo, thus ive disregarded the idea. Going to run 10psi as apparently its fairly safe. Ive heard i can run 12 max, its tempting, but im not game. Already told my wife ill do no mods to the car .... i managed to do the below on the sneak.. Mods: R34 SMIC 3 INCH NISMO EXHAUST HIFLOW CAT JJR SPLIT FRONT/DUMP PIPE K&N HIGHFLOW PANEL STOCK BOOST (although im running the high mode constantly..) 168 KW ATW so far. Cheers

Lads, Had a search no info i could find.. Looking at Nengun and various others places for a possible replacement of my r34 SMIC on my r33. Question is are ARC SMIC a good options as opposed to going front mount. This i wont be doing as i do not wish to cut holes etc required for installation and the aim is to keep to the car looking factory. Anyone used these before? They are expensive by the looks of it but im not fussed if it is a decent performing product. Ive decided to not go berserk with upgrades not sure how long ill have the car. Also searching for a decent Electronic Boost Controller to run around 10psi (rather not be replacing turbos either) and a tuning option without going powerfc etc. Around 200kW or so is the aim. Current got 169.8 kw atw with a r34 smic, 3inch nismo exhaust and front split dump pipe, K&N Highflow Panel. Stock boost.

Hi, Ive wired up the constant ground which is now successfully running the high boost mode permanently. I also wired into this a switch under the bonnet. Sure makes a difference to the feel of the car around town. Definately more usable poke. Anyone had any issues running it this way for long periods (solenoid burning out etc), or anything else of interest? Just curious. Cheers, Matt

Yeah it did can see it on the dyno sheet they gave me. 157 KW ATW. This was before a few mods though..no major mods. r34 SMIC 3" Turbo Back (split dump/front pipe) K&N High Flow Filter f**k all really... Runs real good now though, wouldnt want to stir up problems. Ill be getting a mechanic to do it for me.

Hi, About to have this mod done. Seems like a good idea as i rarely ever feel full boost. I dont often floor it past 4500rpm... Question is would i need it to be dynoed again and check mixtures etc due to increased boost down low or am i being paranoid? My car is currently running pretty rich though (down to around 10.5 at high revs) Cheers, Matt

Lads, Im am about to buy a nismo short shift kit for my r33 gts25t. Couple of people have told me to not do it as they often cause gearbox damage and grinding etc. Can anyone clarify this? Had such problems? My skyline is in mint condition i dont want to cause myself headaches over a shifter. My brother has on 07 WRX with (factory option however) STI Short Shift. Its really good compared to the stock setup, i was hoping for something similar. They are not massively short either which i prefer, just gives a more solid feel... Any input much appreciated Matt
