What are you working towards? Strength, hypertrophy (size) or muscular endurance?

It hurts, my cheek is stitched to the gums on both sides. If I can fond my xray ill post pics but thyley were essentially growing into my jaw bone not my mouth.

I've just had 4 wisdoms removed, one root canal and 6 fillings... Why? Because I left it 5.5 yrs after I was told my wisdoms needed to come out and they caused that much pressure in my mouth that they moved all my teeth, 7 of my teeth cracked and needed to be repaired, they took my top 2 out in the chair 2 weeks ago and they roots were hooked, my bottom 2 came out Tuesday in day surgery and they had to drill back into my jaw as my mouth isn't big enough and that's how far back my teeth were. They also had to cut through part of my cheek. My root canal gets the final cap next week and I now have to wear a plate because of the damage to my jaw from the pressure on my teeth. And to think, I've always looked after them perfectly and its because of how expensive wisdom tooth removal is that I didn't get them done earlier

You can get them, I have one for a lower back injury. You need to be really carful. Did they say if it is the left side of transverse abdominus or if it is internal or external obliques?? Depending which muscle it is also depends on what you can do.
-
Night terrors... Homer had them on the simpsons yesterday :-) But seriously, do you have an electric blanket? Heating on? Stress? Change is what you eat?
-
Also resistance training is great, I have the ACSM (American college of sports medicine) resistance training guidelines so ill post them up shortly that is what the Australian training guidelines are based on.

Urgh lack of sleep is the worst!! I've been put on pill after pill after pill to fix my sleeping but it doesn't happen, my vit d is low and vit d supplements helped but didn't fix it. Only thing that puts me to sleep is panadine forte or Mersyndol (codine) they are running out of options because anything else they try messes with my medications needless to say having wisdom tooth surgery and root canal work I've been sleeping great lately lol. Hope you get it sorted, possibly look into seeing a nutritionist incase there is something in your diet or look into aromatherapy and some of the theraputic complimentary medicines. You said could be other factors back pain, diet etc.. do you have or have you had a back injury or back pain? Also do you exercise? If so how often for how long and when?
-
Best way to do it is not waste the money on "diet pills" they aren't going to make spot reduction possible, they all say you still need diet and exerise programs if there was a fast simple solution to weight loss (other than don't put it on) than we wouldn't have the issues we do with obesity the thing is you are increasing your metabolism whilst doing the exercise and then trying to "boost" it with the pills which if they actually worked your body would still be used to the increased levels and when you stop them it drops back to a level it isn't used to because of the "boosting". I was involved with a study at the ais on diet pills and the placebo effect, were all given exercise programs, nutritional coaching and a pt and either a placebo supplement or an actual diet pill and none of the pills proved to make any measurable difference in weight loss. If you are after weight loss do mixed programs, eat well (including not over eating), drink plenty of water and make sure you recover properly between session (called super compensation process) so that you can keep improving your performance and pushing your body, warm up and cool down properly (including stretching) to aid with recovery and decrease the chance of DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) and in turn you will feel happier, healthier, your metabolism will increase and you will loose the weight, change your program every 6-8 weeks so your body keeps being challenged. I could go onto the science behind exercise but that gets boring for most people lol

Arguable, some say things like green tea, chilli and those metabolift pills peak the mrtabolism but there isn't enough evidence to definatively say yes and even then it isn't a permanent effect, more like a placebo, people think it works so they train harder. Best is eat well, build lean muscle and increased metabolism will come with it. Plus you don't want to be relying on supliments forever. I'll do some more research and give you more details ill also ask the opinions of some of my lecturers and other trainers.

Hey guys will be launching my new buiness in September starting out as group fitness and personal training and in march expanding to massage therapy and nutrition later next year, slowly adding services eventually adding physiotherapy and stuff when I finish uni :-) www.melhealthandbody.com yippee! -
You're correct nickr33 And in regards to the cardio/resistance training - resistance training helps increase lean muscle mass which in turn increases the metabolism (muscle uses more energy) and also keeps it going after exercise longer as muscles take longer to recover from a session therefore the body keeps working for longer. Cardio is a great way to the the metabolism firing but the body also recovers quicker therefore the metabolism isn't firing for as long. For weight loss it is important to have a combination of both cardio and resistance training in your program as well as the 5 veg, 2 fruit, carbs and protein daily (carbs and protein are important fuels for aerobic training) and remember not to overeat as well as aim for 1l water per 25kg of body weight plus 1l per 1hr of exercise :-) not drinking enough actually increases fluid retention which is a pain in the ass especially when trying to loose weight.

Your Heart Rate At Moderate Workout And At Maximum Effort
Melly replied to Wubzy =)'s topic in Health & Wellbeing
220-age gives max heart rate (MHR), max heart rate - resting heart rate (RHR) gives you heart rate reserve (HRR), to find training heart rate (THR) is (hrr x training percentage/100) plus resting hr eg. Resting hr is 54, age is 23 MHR is 220-23 = 197 HRR is 197-54 = 143 50% THR is (143x.5)+54 = 125.5 Using that is a good way to set training intensity goals for a cardio workout eg. Warmup 40-60%, session intervals of 50-80% cooldown 60-40%. I have the intensity guidelines for muscular endurance, strength and hypertrophy (increase size) if anyone is interested in those. I agree with what emtea said, pay attention to how long it takes to get back down to normal, adequate recovery time will allow you to train at higher intensity for longer :-) Trozzle, let me write you a program :-) lol I need PT Guinnea cops for my last assessment -
Hey Terry thanks! Luna are there even any gumtrees in the city?? Lol I have a Nav man, still a bit nervous about driving in the city and the tolls etc. At least with public transport I have a ROUGH indication or how long it will take lol. Tracks, highways, motorkhanas I am fine, navigating in traffic makes me nervous its taken me almost 3 yrs to get used to Canberra let alone Sydney haha
-
Lol! I'll keep that in mind incase the other hundred volunteers pull out lol...
-
http://www.fitness.edu.au/st-leonards Looking at that it doesn't look too far. Finding somewhere out of that area but close enough to trains might be the way to go I think...
-
Thanks Andrew, like I said I don't know Sydney very well so that is a good tip, I didn't even think of the tolls etc... I usually get to Quakers hill area for Motorkhanas or Texi and eastern creek for superlap, drifting etc. and that is my limit
-
Hey Nick, yeah I am driving up but I don't know Sydney very well so freaking out about having to drive and navigate around at peak hour etc. I was even thinking staying somewhere I can leave my car during the day and train it to St Leonards. Class is 9-4 so would be busy driving times I think... All the hotels etc. that I can book at looked to be around the $600 per week mark Lol... Not to mention the amount of times I am lazy and post under Zane's account
-
Naw thanks Owen I thought about you and Matty but then went hmm they are a tad away from where I need to be lol
-
And ZCR and I will be out of town that weekend... Have a 21st in G-Town (Griffith)... Joy...
-
Naww aren't I part of ACT Duncan? :-(
