  1. ok, wouldn't suprise me if the motec's still in there as I know how little time Mark has to work on his own car and the motec does an excellent job. I'm sure there will be a vipec in it's place when he gets time in the future though, I'll ask him next week when I place my next order.
  2. The last time I spoke to Mark he was getting prepared to change the motec out in his race car, that was a while ago and not sure if he's had time to actually change it yet... the Vipec supports the Motec dash too.
  3. my only advise is to get something with onsite warranty. If something goes wrong then they come out to you to fix it instead of you having to take the machine back to a service center etc for repair.
  4. I run a knock-link with my vipec to display knock in the cabin. If you're going to use a knock-block for your knock input on the V44 plugin, you can use a knock-link display for the visual display. I plan to change to one of the LCD type displays in the future for additional outputs.
  5. Yep, but you must have a LOT of time on your hands if you intend to try and tune all of those cells... The interpolation works very well on both ECU's so you dont need anywhere near that amount of cells in reality if you're only using a revlimit around the 8000rpm region. I own both an Autronic SM4 and a Vipec V88 and I'm not using the full resolution on either ECU.
  6. from what I've experienced, the main reason for the firmware updates is addition of new features. I would have stayed with v4.2.0 firmware if it wasn't for the new addition of closed loop fueling via the wideband o2 signal. The narrowband in my car is dead and I CBF replacing it... I've been extremely impressed with the closed loop functioning straight off the wideband input though. It uses the AFR Target table for the corrections.
  7. I agree, although I did have a bit of a laugh when I noticed the math tuning function in 4.3.4, Autronic must be annoyed
  8. It's a pitty Ray couldn't have the V88 PCB's screened with TF Electronics or Vipec if the links are a re-badged vipec... Mine is screened as a G4 Xtreme Can you take the end plate off your V88 and have a look at the PCB? My V88 is older than your ECU so maybe the later units got a board revision and Ray convinced them to screen with his logo. On the link website there's also a section to register your Vipec ECU's in the support area. I much prefer Ray's support over Link's though. Funnily enough the firmware versions and change lists are identical between the G4 and Vipec too. I'll be buying more Vipec's and have to place an order with Godzilla for a couple of V44's shortly.
  9. I was lucky enough to score a Dell Travel Adapter from a mate for my tuning notebook, works great with the Latitude D620
  10. My very first cold start the morning after a couple of hours dyno tuning required some very slight adjustment to the acceleration enrichment in the warmup section of the map, mostly due to the 800cc injectors. After that it's been fine. Has been in my daily driver for 2 months and about 4000km of mixed city/highway driving now.
  11. go through the vipec software help files, look at the screenshots and the titles used in each. All are PClink. The suppport from Ray for the Vipec in my experience is very good, I rate that highly on my "needs" list. Similar queries that went to Link in NZ weren't as quick. I'm happy to pay the extra for the local and fast support.
  12. When I took the end plate off my Vi-PEC V88, the PCB is screened with G4 Extreme. I love my V88, will be grabbing a V44 shortly for my other car and I'll bet if I tried to update it with the Link G4 storm firmware it would have a good chance of working. On Link's website you can also associate Vipec ECU's with your user account there too.
