  1. Thought you guys might find this interesting. I literally stumbled upon this while googling and I subsequently did a little more investigative googling to find out more. Turns out that a little known Australian Engineering design house is responsible for the design of several key components in the GR6 transmission. How much they had to do with the overall packaging of the GR6 I can only guess but clearly they were responsible for Clutch design, Valvebody design, ElectroHdraulics and Software development. I know that Aichi in Japan co-operated with BW in the design of the GR6 and that this company seems to be a BW subsidiary. Regardless, Their resume is quite impressive. What is really interesting is that these guys apparently do "Warranty Investigation" and "Failure analysis" for Borg Warner solenoids, which they also design. A number of these have carked it in U.S. cars. Check out their website.
  2. Yeah, it sucks because 7 uses pace car periods to cash up on sponsorship funds. But if you keep watching they come back just before the pace car period ends. You'll notice that for the last 1/4 of a lap before peeling off, the GT-R driver gives it the berries and fair vanishes into the distance before driving into pit lane. He's meant to bring the race cars up to race speed when the pace car period ends. On more than one occasion it caught the race cars sleeping.
  3. What was the condition of the bore liner? I know Nissan made a point of highlighting it's new fangled Thermal Sprayed bore liners when the car was released. Many people were worried about the ultimate strength of the liner and there were even suggestions that the liner wears out fast enough to require a tear down service at 100k, which i still find hard to believe. Is is possible that the Pistons may have separated due to bore liner collapse and subsequent gouging? From what I understand, the VR38 shares the same bore centres as the VQ35HR but finds it's additional capacity from the lack of sleeves. Wouldn't this mean that the Dartons would lessen the bore diameter, if only slightly? So you would probably end up with a 3.6 liter engine, albeit a much stronger 3.6 liter. That's assuming there is not much room to move in terms of boring outwards.
