hey guys i recently put in a manual boost controller in my rb20 32, and looking at my boost tacho boosting to 12psi is good, happy with response etc, but as i turn up the boost to say 14-16psi the car feels like it doesnt move and has trouble boosting, no G force whatso eva..... btw. its got turbo back 3" exhaust, FMIC, pod filter, using motul 4100 oil and standard ngk plugs any ideas?

its normal for after market BOV's to spit abit of oil but how much oil are you talking about?....

trust me there will be no difference unless u want to pay big buks on the ARC stuff, but if u want a nicer looking engine bay go for the stainless steel, i got a Fmic kit on my r32 recently and the pipes are at same temprature as the initial piping.... personally if i were u id leave it as it is so yout wont get hastles by the PO-PO

all hoses were check and re tightened, it peformed much better dont know if it was due to the weather because it was a cool night....still a little lag but not as much, and the turbo still makes the eeking sound.... thanks for all the help

ok sweet il double check all the silicone joiners and clamps and re tighten them up, hopefully all is well and the lag may not be as much as it is now and the turbo will not make a squeling sound... i will post up the result of that as soon as i do it.... BTW. the turbo squels at about 5500rpm till the end of the rev range.

no the IC was purchased from another forum member but not sure what brand it is, the IC piping kit was purchased from just jap so i assume that the pipes and joiners would be tip top..... the car starts boosting at 2800rpm till 5500rpm there after has lag and no power til redline....and just today i have noticed that the turbo is making a fairly loud squeeling sound??? mind you a spark plug change and oil change is due?? any ideas...

hey guys i just recently got a FMIC kit fitted on my rb20 r32, the car had turbo back exhaust and knn podfilter, and was running fine, but after the FMIC went on the car felt asif it had alot of lag and the power delivery was very poor, could this be due to running standard boost and not enough pressure in the intake pipes to spool up faster? and is it normal for the intercooler pipes to be very very hot? cheers

hey guys just after a FMIC piping kit for my r32 rb20det, must include the FM mounting brackets and all clamps and hoses, and piping obviously..... the condition does not bother me, im not tryna make my car into a show pony, just after performance so aslong as the pipes dont have any saught of leak itl do.... IE. just jap has brand new kits going for $250, so if you want any more than that there would be no point in PMing... cheers

no it hasnt. i think i may stick with the rb20det motor and, boost it upto 15psi after the FMIC goes in....thats probably what i would end up doing, since you guys say the 20s are "tough buggers" would 15psi be a safe level to boost a standard rb20 turbo, considering that its got steel turbines.....from what iv heard the r33 turboes are ceramic and cannot handle high levels of boost. thanks guys

i did want to do some further mods such as, FMIC, r33 turbo, aftermarket manifold, and boost upto 15psi....but i thought that the amount of pressure on the high k'd engine would not support it and would soon after breakdown, as i cannot afford for something like that to happen... so you guys suggest that if i do buy the rb25det, i get it complete with turbo, ecu and wiring harness?

hey guys just a little confussed with my situation at the moment, i have a 89 model r32 gts-t with a rb20det engine and has about 189k on the clock.....obviously pretty normal for a 20 year old car. the mods i have so far consist of a free breathing pod filter and a turbo back 3' exhaust system, on standard boost (never been boosted before). i was thinking on a rebuild but the price on rebuild start at 3-4gz and thats alot of money to be throwing around to recondition a 20 year old motor. so i thought id do a rb25det engine swap with lower ks, something along the lines of 100k to 120k. but id like to find out if the rb20det ecu and wiring harness will support that, and/or will the rb20det manifold and turbo bolt straight on the the rb25det due to alreadyy having a trubo back exhaust and will save abit of money on the engine buying it less turbo, less manifold etc. i would like to know what i can keep to use on the rb25det form my rb20det and what i may need ontop to complete this project.... will appreciate all ideas!
