Friday 22nd July I get an SMS around 3:30pm saying the Short has been assembled, and everything is good...after I had the crank reground and re-linished earlier that week. Monday 25th July I finally have some spare time to go to the work shop and take some photos, and see the goodness of my engine build.

Anyone else heading into AVCON this weekend? I am thinking of trying to go in on Sunday to see the cosplay...met one of them today at work, she had made a replica portal gun.

I'll be calling in hopefully this week on my way to drop my crank off for machining so I can get a price on getting my Covers coated.

Take your pick, there are plenty of brands out there. You will either want 86.5 or 87mm pistons. I went with CP 86.5 so if I need to rebuild again I can go to 87mm. RB26 Bearings as you are using a RB26 crank. Use ACL Bearings, they are Aussie made Upgrade it, you are spending the money on a rebuild and the oil system is the life of it...it is one thing you don't want to skimp on. If it fails/breaks, the outcome could be catastrophic. If you are aiming for 400kw+ then definitely upgrade the oil pump. Twin turbo RB25...too much hassle to make the manifolds etc, do a search on SAU. I think a few people have done it on here, but its a PITA. And in regards to the thread you started that got locked, look here, I am currently doing this build and documenting it a bit.

Actually you are wrong there. The meat is in a ratio to 1 pound. Cheese burgers, Mc Doubles (Double Beef N' Cheese), Double Beef and Bacon, Hamburger, and Big Macs use 10/1 or 10 patties to 1 pound Quarter Pounders use 4/1 or 4 patties to 1 pound Angus use 3/1 or 3 patties to 1 pound So having 10 cheese burger patties is the same as 4 quarter pounder patties, ie 1 pound.

I had to make one for a customer a few weeks back now....the biggest I have had to make so far is a cheese burger with 18 pieces of meat and cheese...was huge.

I am getting the crank machined up to get this fixed, so the clearances are going to be different, so new bearings are needed and new bearings are going to be needed. 2 of these bearings were placed in the Block and coated with oil, the rest were not used at all. Not as much as the engine my tuner built before. His words "was bent like a banana", center journal was out by 0.06", and 1-2 was out by 0.15"

correct which leads me now to my next item. Yesterday when we checked for runout, it was about 0.01-0.015", being concerned about this we rang a few places and they said it would be fine. Double checked it again to today, and realized it was out by 0.015-0.02" instead So I have ordered new bearings, should be here tomorrow - Friday, and next week we'll assemble it, and take it to a crank machinist to fit the run out...so another $500 to spend on new bearings and machine work and stuck with a set of bearings I cant use, anyone know anything cool I can make out of bearings. The head and sump were sent off to Lewis Engines today for them to extend and baffle the sump, recondition the head with new seals, springs, and a mild port job and install my sexy Tomei cams. So updates and pics next week now...hopefully

So, its been just over 2 months since my last update...why!? you may ask, Well nothing has been happening I let my tuner/engine builder use my engine stand to build 2 RB26's for customer while I saved more money, but things finally got moving yesterday 12-07-2011. Yesterday we gapped the piston rings, which took 30-1hr to do...but took longer as of interruptions, and the occasional side track of conversation. Today, 13th, we washed the block, squeaky clean, the bores are brilliant. Test fitted the front and rear bearings with the crank, with a coat of oil, and that was turning perfectly with no travel. Tomorrow, 14th, we should be cleaning the crank, installing the grub screws and beginning to bolt things together...YAY!!! Progress, shall post photos tomorrow afternoon if I have time
