Saw a black r33 park out the front of work today (noarlunga)...had almost solid steel rims - didn't like them.

To answer your question, no it is not a direct replacement. You need to modify the cradle, here is a guide for a R33 install. Just follow the steps out of the 2 guides and you should be alright.
