  6. When i bought my R33 the Nissan Boot Lock Cover had either broken off or been stolen. I didn't like the look of it not being there so i hunted around and found replacement ones, but the original's are quite expensive and where out of my price range, Just Jap Auto Imports sell them here as an OEM item. As i didn't want to spend that much for an original, i had a look for a secondhand one, i managed to find someone on here, who was wrecking there R33. I sent him a PM, he told me he was selling it on ebay, so i bought it off ebay. Now i have a replacement lock, but no key. I was told by some people i could take this lock to a locksmith and have a keymade up to it, and some others said to have the barrels swapped. I didnt exactly like the ideas of having extras keys just so i can open the boot, so i decided to go along the path of having the barrels swapped. I took my original one out of the car to take to a locksmith and have the barrel swapped into the replacement. Of course being me i had to put the key in and see how it worked, i then thought it look rather easy to do myself, and decided to give it a crack. I did go looking on the net a bit for some help doing this, but nothing popped up. So here is a guide on how to swap the R33 Boot Lock Barrels. Boot Beforehand Inside Boot Panel, you need to remove the blackclip for the lock to come out, a bit of twisting and pulling will get it. Once the black clip is removed, it should pop out easily. Now that it is out, this is what the back looks like. See that clip at the very top, remove that with a flathead screwdriver, carefully so you dont hurt yourself. Now remove the arm, this just pulls straight off once that clip is removed. You can also remove the black seal at anytime you like, i did mine at this step. Now, see that spring. That needs to come off, comes off rather easy with a small screwdriver. Ok, now you need to release the actual barrel now. See those 4 holes, if you look in you can see plastic taps. What you need to do is puch them towards the centre and down so it pops out the black circle on the front. (Sorry about the bad images from now on, i put my camera on charge while i went out, and forgot to put the macro setting back on, but you can still get the idea) Now, push the barrel out from the back, fowards. If you are worried about it falling apart, it might be a good idea to put the key in. It may or may not make a difference, i am not sure. Now this is what you should be left with. Now do the exact same to the other one. Then swap the barrels from yours into the new one, and do everything in reverse. The black circle will only go in one way as it is tapered, and the spring will also only go in one way. As you are reassembling, it maybe a nice idea to add some grease onto the barrel. Now for the finished product.
  7. +1 for RB Motorsport, but i do also like SAUSA. Woo track days, etc etc sounds good...too bad i can hardly get time off work to go to these things
  8. A 040 would be good for say 250-300rwkw at all?
  9. Was a good day out, very long though. I entered my car into the sound comp to for giggles, jvc dvd head unit, some sort of split system, some sort of amp in the boot, and a small sub (i don't know what they are, came with the car), i managed to do 119.3db with the supplied cd. The cruise to Aldinga and Sellicks was good, hopefully the northerners get back safely. Thanks Cara for organizing it.
  10. Do i need to say i spotted them too?...well i did, then i spotted a few of them again on the drive to aldinga and sellicks.
  11. I didn't go tonight as i didn't finish cleaning my car till 8:30 at troys place....plus i dont want to get it dirty, next week for sure
  12. I am having my car fixed up in the next few weeks...well the bodykit anyway....may see if he wants to fix anything else at the same time. Just finished washing the car too, gonna whack some black gloss paint on them now, leave it in the sun a bit and see how she goes, then ill be round.
  13. You implying something here?
  14. Congratulations, glad you and the baby are fine after all that.
  15. I should clean my car too, gonna spray paint my windscreen arms black again if i get a chance today....ill be round your place about 1pm Troy...ill bring beer, wont be cold though
  16. It will make this guys life easier yes i know he is an actor
  17. If anyone here uses steam, just be careful of someone with the username Mor.B.Z.Wojtaz // zagram mixa // and if you get sent a link to here http://newsteams.tk/ - DO NOT LOG IN, its a scam website to steal your steam details. A mate received a message from him saying he had won a free copy of left4dead and GTA4, and to claim log into that site, but hopefully everyone here is smart enough. Also on a side note, Pete, how are those hard drives?
  18. I have a Cert III in Electrotechnology Computer Engineering and Component Assembly. I find that by doing things myself, i learn quicker then reading or listening about it....but still sometimes have to go to the instructions. Its surprising how easy a pc is to put together, but we still get people coming into work wanting us to fix there mistakes...all the hardware comes with instructions, if it doesn't fit read them and don't force it....enough of my uneducated ramblings
  19. The 040 is not a direct replacement, you need to modify the pump cradle, here is guide how to do it, if you want a direct replacement then go with a nismo but be prepared to spend about $300-500.
  20. Maths, geez, i failed that in year 12....and tourism, only because i hardly went to the classes....so i didn't get my sace 18 months at tafe doing Electrotechnology was interesting, maths was also a pain in the ass, but at least it was fun making circuits and making stuff blow up
  21. First car was a 1982 Mitsubishi Colt, had that while on my L's, hardly drove it on the road as mum didn't like it, so i used as a paddock basher...still got it with a half tank of leaded petrol, hasn't moved in 2-3 years Was then driving my mums magna wagon, and dads vr commodore to my job at coles at tafe at regency park. Was still driving them for a bit till i got a decent job, i then bought myself a VS Commodore a few months before my 21st birthday, which i then sold to my parents a few weeks before my 22nd birthday so i could buy my current car...a 1997 R33 Skyline, gotta love it as a 22nd Birthday present to myself , pictures are in the link in my sig.
  22. Shell works fine in my R33, i put BP in the other week...car ran like it had diarrhea.
  23. How about Maccas car park? That way people can have breakfast or something to eat if need be, but BP is good too.
  24. Ok, i have just received my letter and entrant sticker for the big day. Didn't Cara say at vilis that she was going to have a meeting with use before the day? And as we are going in as a group display, we should all rock up at the same time...so any details at all? As for cleaning, i have Friday off so I'm washing my car and then going to Troy's place to use his stuff , thanks Troy.
