thats cool. obviously AIR has been shut for a while now but i wasnt sure exactly how long its been, so i just guessed. i have read 4-6-8 years and even read on AdelaideNow that its still open lol. i'll change my post. thanks for the comment about my signature.
-
imo until AIR changes hands i think its dead and buried it has been closed for over 8 years now. how many times have we been told its due to be opened? no point in even talking about it anymore. its either a new motorsport complex (fingers crossed) or its nothing.

havent been on here for a while but i see nothing has changed...sapol still has the tunnel vision goggles on. bad luck people hope you pass first time. LEAVE OBVIOUSLY WELL MAINTAINTED CARS ON THE ROAD WHERE THEY BELONG.

spotted a stock looking r33 gtr waiting to turn at the regency and main north road intersection just after 2pm. from memory i think it was purple? driver tool of the day award goes to...*drum roll* a shitbox white xf falcoon. first spotted on torrens road and then addison road heading towards the port. zipping through traffic, without using the indicator, speeding and getting real close to the cars in front. had the real cool one hand on the steering wheel driving style. loser.

spotted... sky blue r33 with a black bonnet and another silver r33 with black rims. both on victoria rd. just after 3pm anyone from here?
-
spotted 3 skylines today on my way home from work... silver r32 with a body kit and a front mount on regency rd. black r32 gtr on torrens rd. black r33 on addison rd.
-
spotted a black r32 gts-4 with the front number plate to the side turning onto south rd from regency rd around 12.30 midday. (thursday)

-
hrmm your skyline wouldnt have happened to be parked in a shopping centre car park on main north road on friday?? i saw a skyline exactly how you describe yours but this r33 wasnt defected...
-
havent had time to post this earlier but during my travels on tuesday arvo... black r32 on regency rd not far from arndale shopping centre, it looked like the driver quickly turned down a side street when he saw the fun police?? sad. wine red? r32 on victoria rd with a big front mount. looked clean as. late 80's early 90's camry on the port river express way with masssssssssssive amounts of blue smoke coming from the exhaust. think the rings are gone dude!! at first we thought someone was doing a burnout until we got closer. unbelievable. hope a cop spotted him and defected that thing.

spotted a white r33 with a black bonnet and white rims stopped at the torrens and regency rd traffic lights.

BAHAHAHA you cant be serious?? no stats are needed, just look at the amount of 'quality' cars on the road. i usually think i am at u pull it but then i realise i am driving on the road. hence the reason i don't 'believe' in defects anymore.

spotted a white r33 gtr with black rims at around 1.30pm as it got off the port river express way and turned onto st vincent street

as others have said its a step in the right direction but if we want to be serious and get a positive result out of this, then push for SA or all states to be inline with one another and have a mod plate system similar to Qld. chatting to one cop isn't going to stop SAPOLs negative tactics towards car enthusiasts. asking neil on SAPOLs view on a drag strip is pointless, he cant speak for SAPOL but only give his opinion. a few things I would like to see but i am not holding my breath...is for SAPOL to be pro-active and create an area where car enthusiasts can go and just hang out with out causing an inconvenience on a friday and/or saturday night. something like this- http://forum.roadsmart.com.au/index.php?showtopic=83 i thought to create a better public perception of car enthusiasts, every so often a charity can be nominated and supported through donations? that means SAPOL will have to turn a blind eye to illegal mods and just view and admire our pride and joys that we have poured so much money into also i would like to know why the cops hardly ever pull over those pieces of junk, that have smoke poring out the back of them, bald tyres, no brakes, lights not working etc and then they go after the immaculately modified car? yes we all know about ADR's, but some of the cars ive seen on the roads is a f**king disgrace. to be honest I cannot remember the last time I saw a GENUINELY un-road worthy death trap defected? sorry but i cannot comprehend it x10 its uncertain what the outcome with neil will be, but one thing is for certain. i am fast losing any respect i had for SAPOL with their negative tactics. ban low performance drivers NOT high performance cars.

i don't see how i was being a idiot, when i was merely voicing my opinion. i am not the only person crying out for a drag strip in SA, so don't just point the finger at me please. im not going to get uptight about it but i think being called names was unwarranted and is a bit childish don't you agree? never once did i say that other people haven't tried or are trying to get AIR up and running, so i am not sure why people are saying i think nothing is being done? what hope do we have trying to sell the idea to the SA government if they continue to stick their heads in the sand? how many petitions do we need to have until the SA government listens? im getting told that i, myself has to sell the idea to the SA government, but i cant be a one man band. if the SA government had half a brain it would see the spin-off benefits a legal race track will have. how many years has the Clipsal 500 been in adelaide? surely some of the profits from hosting the event can go towards a long awaited drag strip or put back into grass root motor sport activities? i am not blaming the SA government but do you agree with me that AIR doesn't have the facilities to hold international events? therefore if the facilities were upgraded it would gain recognition from visiting international drivers and riders? big blob janes fault here lets not forget about the proposed motor sport complex in the port area, anyone heard anymore about that? was the petition just a waste of time? I totally agree that health, education and our roads are more important than a drag strip, but what is rann doing about it? our roads have more patches and variations than a patch work quilt. all talk and not much action. anyway ruby at least we agree on one thing, that media mike is a tosser! just my 2c from the unedukated person. cheers.

i disagree on a few points. can we first compare apples with apples, we are car enthusiasts not criminals. i dont see how government funding of a motor sport complex is going to contradict their stance on hoons if it gets hoons off the streets of course a motor sport venue isnt going to get all the dickheads off the streets, people have been spinning wheels, dragging, etc for years. nothing has changed and nothing is going to completely stop it. though i remember reading many many months ago in the paper that when a drag strip (WSID from memory) was opened a police sargeant said hooning became 'non existent' in the area. wow it didnt involve knee jerk reactions (hoon laws) which have not worked, just common sense and initiative...funny that hey? sadly what SAPOL and the SA government is lacking in. from the stories ive been told what my friends and family members got up to 20+ years ago, well imho i seriously doubt there was ever a 'hoon epidemic'. to me the media has just painted a false picture to the general public who have believed this utter bullshit. unfortunately its just another case of the minority ruining it for the majority and look what we have now...SAPOL handing out defects like lollies. which does nothing at all to stop hooning apart from raking in the $$$ to the government. well maybe its time to f**k rann off and give someone else a go to get this state out of neutral and into first gear. SA is a back water compared to other states. ps. i read some of what was written before it was deleted. im not having a go at ruby, i dont care less how many posts i have and how long i have been on this forum. being a car enthusiast i am just putting my point across.

so just because the government doesnt own AIR that makes ALL the difference and so that means it cant give a cent to AIR or for another motorsport venue in SA? pfft. are you sure your not one of ranns spin doctors? lol did you not read page 6 in this thread that other state governments have supported motor sport. the WA government supported and funded the perth motorplex, a purpose built world class motor sport complex. so why cant the SA government do the same? so you might want to tell us how many millions the SA government has given to aami staduim??...time and time again

spotted a silver r33 gtr in the pickles auctions car park yesterday (friday) morning.

-
spotted a white r34 gtr with aftermarket rims on victoria rd just under an hour ago.
-
spotted a nice clean orange r33 with a different colour bonnet on grand junction rd around 2.30ish...it was also defected.

so drivers suddenly pick up lost reserves of skill driving with two less cylinders, do they? the government should improve the driving/licensing system rather than continuously jerking their knee in the direction of lowering limits.
