Hey boys, I just bought a new drift car. Used to be into RC cars heaps. Years ago like 15yrs ago had a Kyosho Ultima Pro...was a lot of fun. Then i got a NEO Nitro road car. Stacked it pretty bad and never really fixed it. So i thought i would just buy a cheap electric car and have a bit of fun. Its been nearly 10 yrs since i last had a bit of fun with these. Just running a Trueno shell.

I have wanted to get a daily for a while, as i do approx 20,000km per year, and i am putting a fair few kms on my S14a. But on the other hand i just love driving it. So i thought instead of getting a daily, i will put the money into an engine rebiuld and everyones a winner!

My old man used to have an old magna. That had done just over 40K before it started blowing smoke........lol......POS!!! But seriously.....old nissan/Datsuns just go for ever. My mate had a 180b that had done over 400K. We used to flat change that thing no clutch all the time and just kept taking it. To the point when he bought a new car so we did all we could to kill the 180b to no avail. The gearbox finally gave way after endless 2nd gear limiter launches. Its funny....when you wanna blow an engine ya cant!

Dude....some of the best shot i have seen. Love it. Such a great mix of old school classic and new tech and everything in between. Seeing that Yelllow Pennzoil R33 and the Calsonic R32 brings back so many memories of Gran Turismo 1. That would have been awesome to be at. -
My old R31 Silo had almost 400K on it when i sold it. That thing had a very hard life. I looked after it with oil andfilter changes every 5000kms, but it got an absolute flogging. The weird thing is the old RB30 just seemed to get stronger and stronger. Those things are scary bullet proof with regular oil changes etc.

Well it could be too much fuel or not enough. CAn you hear your fuel pump prime? Leaky injector causing flodding issues? Faulty FPR? My S14a is playing funny buggers on warm start up atm. Bad FPR i reckon.

You will find that you car wont actually be 35mm lower. YOur current springs would have sagged a bit over time. The Kings are 35mm lower from the stock springs when new. SO if your std springs have sagged 20mm then it will only be 15mm lower than it is now. I know it is a fair bit more, but it is well worth waiting a bit longer and saving for some coilovers or some matched springs and struts.

Could be a gasket issue. I would also check your manifold gasket, and also your turbo > dump pipe gasket. -
Great post man....very interesting read. I am running a 2871r 52t in my S14a. Usual bolt ons and making 210rwkw on 15psi. the difference between that and the std t28 was all in the top end obviously. Yes a bit more laggy but nothing too noticable imo. Mind you i have never been in a 518z equipped car. These things have a great rep for sledge hammer torque in the mid range and top end. I am one of those weird people that dont mind a bit of lag. I just love that slam you in the back of your seat feeling once boost comes in.

Knowledge and reputation is a big one. I have had some pretty bad experiences with mechanics in the past. I used to have a 1600 that was pretty modified. The mechanic decided to take it for a "test drive" and wrapped it around a tree! Lets just say i didnt go back. I think find someone you can relate to and talk to, who knows your car, and has experience working with the car you have. YOu hear so many stories of people in thrreads with the old - I bought a new turbo and went to XXXXX for a tune and they told me this and that, and are very dissapointed with results. Then they take it to a reputable business and you usually hear a different story. Walking into a workshop and being made feel welcome and having friendly people working there builds trust. If you find someone good stick with them, as continued business and loyalty goes a long way for both parties.

Go for some nice 18's mate. I put 19' on my S14a when i first got it. I nearly went 20's It didnt take long for me to realise that they make a fast car that is supposed to handle well, handle like crap. They are heavy and look crap. Went to a nice set of 18's and the car just looks and handles sooo much better. -

AEM i think it is is a wide band kit that i have been looking at getting. I think they are around $250-270 mark? Its a bit of coin but if you dont trust ya afr's you have or from a recent tune then a good thing for peice fo mind. I feel the more guages and crap ya have in ya car the more paranoid ya become about everything ya car is saying to you.
