  1. Do a Google search for Bridgestone RE55s and then select a "Translate Web Page" on a Japanese site and it shows all the compounds and tyre sizes IN ENGLISH. Ken
  2. Hi Matt, I find it hard to believe that the RE55s are out of production, give Gordon Levin Tyres at Penrith a ring, last time i was there they had heaps of stock. The equivalent is Dunlop Do2 tyres or Yokahama do a R compound tyre as well. Ken
  3. Sorry i dont know about a 500hp hi flow. 2nd gear boost starts at about 2200rpm and makes a lot of wheel spin at about 3700rpm. 3rd gear boost starts at about 2200rpm and makes full boost (19psi) at around 3800rpm. It ramps up very strong and really fast in between these revs.
  4. Don't sell the Hiflow, get a VG30 turbine housing and get that fitted up by GCG and for a few hundred bucks you will have what your looking for. Ian
  5. I was under the impression tha Nismo, HKS and others (not Sard or PE) were made by Denso in Japan...Am I wrong?
  6. Hi Cubes, I'll do that test tomorrow for you and let you know, otherwise I would be guessing. I've only booted the car when it was at Oran Park last week and I wasn't concentrating on the RPM gauge or the boost gauge, but I'm sure it was less than 4000, just like the normal hiflow, but the power that it was making before it reached maximum boost was enormous and it came as a huge suprise to me. I'd never felt that before. I'll take note of what, where and when tomorrow when I do some testing and report back to you. OK Cubes? Ian
  7. That's what I wanted too Cubes 260-280 rwkw every day of the week, that's why I am so happy with my GCG Hiflow with the VG30 rear end. And it fits on stock as. Ian
  8. Hi Geoff, I've spent more money on suspension than the engine...LOL...Whiteline everything they make for R33 and Bilstein, Strut Braces Front and Rear, Adjustable Caster Rods, Adjustable Upper Rear Camber Rods. And Brakes have been hugely upgraded....Ohh and one of your magnificent Hicas Lock Bars. Ian
  9. Pete, I have HKS Step 1 256 (8.8 lift) IN 264 (9.0 lift) EXH Ian
  10. Yeah, I agree with bass, for around the $2000 you get a turbo that puts you easily over the 250kw realistically and closer to 280. Is a bolt in situation, no modifications required for the fitting which is a big plus..And retains the stock look for any enquiring eyes. I know I was disappointed with my stock Hiflow struggling to get 240kw with the usual mods. I know for sure i was disappointed in my HKS cams, I thought they were a waste of money. But I think now with the VG30 Turbine housing the cams might be getting breathing space. One last thought is that I feel i'm comming to the end of my quest for more power. SK's theory of 280kw max is good for me. Ian
  11. It probably worth trying the "For Sale" section in a Nissan ZX forum as well? I've tried and tried to download the pictures on here of the VF30 Turbine housing, I've even zipped it but it keeps saying that the file is too large. I took the originals on a 6 megapixel camera on the highest quality. Anybody know how i can resize? Ian
  12. I have a receipt for $2100 for my Hiflow which included a new $160 HKS actuator. If you join the Skyline Club you will get 10% discount from GCG. I know that if you improve your fuel supply the GCG Hiflow will make minimum 320 rwhp. If you improve your fuel supply and specify and supply a VG30 turbine housing on a GCG Hiflow you will make around 360 rwhp
  13. Hi Bass...The car is as it was with the original GCG Hiflow, spools up early. Definately have not lost any power down low.. But when boost builds up it is brutal and hits you in the back much much harder...I'm not exagurating, the car is a bit of an animal.. I have a CES split dump, but it fits up as a standard dump to the VG30 Exhaust as Stock as a Rock. No modification necessary. Brett from GCG told me when he rebuilt the turbo with the VG30 turbine housing on it that it would make 30kw@tw more....I emailed him after I got the car re-dynoed at C&V and attatched the dyno chart, and yesterday he emailed me back and said " It looks like we were right on the money eh good result" I could honestly recommend anyone with a RB25 engine contemplating a GCG Hyflow turbo upgrade to add the VG30 turbine housing at the first build. Ian
  14. Gordin Levin Motorsport at Penrith are the Distrubitors for Bridgestone RE55's Tyres. If you are a member of the Skyline's Australia NSW Branch you will be entitled to discount. They are sponsors of the club.
  15. I've said it before...The Skyline...We rock up to anywhere, 3 people in the car, 4 wheels and tyres in the car, 20litre drum of fuel with Toluene mixed, tool box and pump and god knows. Having driven for 4 hours to get there, the car is absolutely loaded to the gunnels. Air Conditioner going Stereo going change the tyres when were there. Opposition turn up with car on trailer, gutted with engines and stuff from all sorts of different origin, and there are only a few cars that are quicker on the track. We always finish in the top 10 overall and I just think that says something for Nissan.....and the Skyline. Ian
  16. I never thought of that issue before. I guess that is why Nissan designed them in the first place. You never stop learning when you start racing. I stuck my hand in down by that area after 3 laps and jessusss it was hot. It's a neverending story, need to get the lip on the rear guards rolled to as the tyres are just touching, more money. Ian
  17. Hi guys. Yesterday I competed in Round 5 of the NSW Supersprint Chps on the Short Circuit at Oran Park. I only did 9 laps and had a fastest time of 50.86. Car was running fantastic since i got a new turbo from Brett at GCG. Stupidly I didn't replace the Heat Shields off the manifold and the turbo and started melting piping. I'm certain that with a bit more familiarsation of both OP and the car I coul'd have gotten into the 48s. 18. Hi guys, I bought some new ajustable sliders through Nissan, they are ex Japan and cost roughtly $25-$30 each and their are two per window. I think if you can glue some leather or some veleur (spelling) onto the white plastic it would help. After all new ones are only some furry kind of materiel that wears out over time.
  19. Hi guys, I had a dissapointing day yesterday at Oran Park. I retired the car after only 9 laps. The car was unbelievable. Heaps of power everywhere, more than i was used to and it was the first time I have "booted" the thing since it was installed. I have never raced on the OP short circuit before and I needed more time to work it out. I was getting faster and faster the more familiar i was becoming with the newfound power and the track. Seriously, the boost comes on much much stronger than the normal GCG Hiflow. I ran a best time of 50.68.00. I honestly believe given a few more laps i could have gotten down to 48's. Even the 50.68 sec lap I was sidways comming onto the straight and I would have lost time correcting it.Biggest lesson I learnt is to ALWAYS reinstall the manifold heat shield and the turbo heat shield. I ran without and melted some plumbing. Not melted right through but rubber blistering nearest the stock manifold and even a silicon joiner melting where it was in contact with a SS clamp. DUMB MISTAKE. I'm going to replace some pipes with silicon and reinstall the heat shields. Ian
  20. Opps, these files are too large, I'll have to try and compress the pictures.
  21. Hi Bob, I'll try and download the pics now mate
  22. Yes jazza08, I've had the GCG Hiflow for 12 months and was always around the 220-240kw@tw. I always wanted to be at 260-280kw because reading different owners threads and comparing mods, I felt that thats where most guys were aiming. Now with the VG30 rear end 270kw is a breeze and i'm extremely happy with that for a few hundred bucks outlay. If I had have known about the VG30 rear end 12 months ago I would have bought that straight away. Ian
  23. Hi Cubes, I'm using Power FC addon Boost Controller. Ian
  24. Hi bretto, I got the VG30 from SSS Automotive for $150 ( some places wanted $500 for the VG30 and JustJap didn't have any) and your only going to use the turbine housing so one with shonky bearing or whatever is OK. I'm not 100% positive but I think GCG charge between $150-$200 to machine and rebuild your existing Hiflow, but please check with Brett at GCG Turbo's. They are sponsors of Skylines Australia. Make sure you get the VG30 of a 300 ZX single turbo. It took SSS two attempts to give me the correct housing. Ian
  25. Hi A, thanks for that bit of info you gave me originally. When i mentioned it to Brett, he knew exactly what i was talking about and had done them sucessfully before. He told me to get a turbine housing off a 300 ZX Nissan single turbo. LuckiyI eventually got one from SSS at Girraween for $150. My Hiflow was off the car as i had just broken a manifold stud so I gave Brett my Hiflow and the VG30 turbine housing and a few days later the Hybrid was ready. I'm not sure of what the cost was as I bought a few other things at the same time, silicon tubing and clamps and stuff but I don't think it was over $200 for machining and rebuild. If anyone is interested ring Brett at GCG (sponsors of Skyline Australia). Driving home yesterday in torrential rain, spoolup appears to be very similar to the normal GCG Hiflow, which is what i want for circuit racing, no lag and response is immediate I'll know exactly whenI race it on Sunday at Oran Park and im going to love the extra 30kw. Ian
